Texas Beats Ole Miss, Still Needs Four Good Quarters

Hi, and welcome to another edition of Right

on Rangers Live.

Coming at you, fourth quarter.

Longhorns trying to give this one away once

again.

They finally answer, thanks to the run game.

No thanks to Arch Manning, who was great

in the first half, but second half has

been a bit of a different story, and

that is putting it nicely.

58-yard attempt coming from Ole Miss right

now.

We will see what unfolds here.

Six minutes and 46 seconds left on the

clock.

Good to be hanging out with you guys.

Of course, here at Right on Rangers, we

cover everything Texas sports, but we put a

huge emphasis on the Longhorns during the college

football season, and we thank you for choosing

Right on Rangers for all of your Longhorns

content.

Kick is up, and it is going to

be blocked.

Somebody got a hand on that one, and

we have a 31-24 lead maintained.

Longhorns are going to get excellent field position

to try and put this game on ice

as well.

That was huge, absolutely huge.

You are going to have the ball close

to, if not right at midfield.

Let's see who got that block, man.

Great job.

Excellent job.

Texas got to put this one to bed.

It should have been 31-3 at halftime.

It really should have, 31-3.

Instead, you kind of go into the half

a little ho-hum, and you promptly allow

a 21-point comeback to ensue.

Texas always got to make it interesting.

42, their own 42-yard line here.

They're working from Wingo, a little swing pass.

He's going to get a two- or

three-yard gain here.

No updates on Coleman at this point.

Ka-chow, what's good?

Question from YouTube there.

No updates on Coleman.

We will see what happens after the game.

Looked like a shoulder issue.

I would say he's probably going to be

down a game or two.

If you're not coming back at all, I

mean, look, it might be precautionary, but it

looked great.

Coleman hadn't really been having a great game.

I mean, look, he dropped that one where

he was injured.

He dropped the wide-open touchdown pass.

Coleman was not having a great game before

he came out.

Holy crap.

Raleek Brown, baby.

Brown has just come to life in this

fourth quarter, man.

He is on one.

Thank goodness for Raleek Brown.

Without Raleek Brown, where would Texas be right

now, man?

Probably trailing.

Dead serious.

Probably trailing.

Raleek Brown has just rattled off some key

runs here in this fourth quarter as we

approach five minutes and counting to go.

Nate, what's good, man?

It has been a busy, busy week here

right on Rangers, man, but I agree with

you.

The sports equinox, baby.

You got to love it.

You got to love it.

Hockey, basketball.

You got hoops starting up.

You got college football.

You got NFL.

It's a great time of year to be

a sports fan.

Hey, appreciate all you guys hanging out on

TikTok.

Shane, what's good, my guy?

Thanks for liking the live, brother.

Appreciate you.

Thank you so much.

Hey, if you haven't hit that thumbs-up

button yet, might not seem like a big

deal, but it is, helps get the show

out to as many people as possible.

Easy, easy way to support the channel.

Double tap that screen if you're on TikTok.

Hit that thumbs-up button if you're on

Facebook or on YouTube.

Appreciate it, guys.

Thank you so much.

Look, feels like I'm watching the same game

from two weeks ago and a week ago,

looking good in the first half, and then

you fall apart in the third quarter.

Here's Raleek Brown.

He's off.

He's going down the sideline.

He's at the 20, 15.

He stopped at the 15.

Raleek Brown taking over this ballgame in Austin.

Raleek saving Texas at the hour in which

they most needed him.

Great vision.

Man, that's like prime Le'Veon Bell right

there, man.

That is just patience, waiting for your lanes,

and then just shiftiness and explosiveness.

That was beautiful.

Texas in business, 16-yard line of Ole

Miss.

Eric, what's good, man?

Thanks for hanging out.

Another handoff, and Ole Miss finally sniffs it

out.

They're going to put him down in the

backfield, three- or four-yard loss here.

It is 31 to 24, Texas, if you're

just joining us.

Texas, after allowing 21 straight points, finally on

the back of Raleek Brown, puts together a

touchdown drive to go up 31-24 with

about six minutes left.

Ole Miss field goal attempt, a 58-yarder

blocked, and Texas goes right back to the

ground game and now is looking to make

this a two-score ballgame.

You're going to have second and long.

Arch Manning, of course, with the touchdown run

to put Texas up 31-24.

Arch has not had a good second half,

man.

I'm not sure, unfortunately.

Arch had a great first half, but I'm

not sure that the second half is going

to be forgotten by a lot of Longhorns

fans.

I'd love to sit here and say to

you, you know, what he did in the

first half erases what happened here in clutch

time, but it just doesn't.

I mean, it looked good for about two

quarters, and the wheels fell off pretty quickly.

Arch just does not look confident throwing the

football, and it's a big reason why they've

gone exclusively to the ground game here.

They have almost exclusively gone to the run

game.

I mean, it's odd.

It's just almost just mind-boggling how Arch

in these moments crumbles, and that is what

happened in the third quarter and in the

fourth quarter.

He just looked shaken.

You don't even have to be a football

genius to figure that out.

The dude just looked shook.

There's no other way to put it.

It's just that lack of confidence that was

exuding from him in the third and fourth

quarter when it wasn't going his way.

I'm glad that they figured it out with

the run game.

I don't want to think about what might

have happened had they had to rely on

Arch's arm there at the end of this

ballgame.

It's fortunate that they were able to get

the chunk plays that they did with Brown

and then with Terry as well.

I don't think a lot of Longhorns fans

are going to walk away from this game

feeling a whole lot better about Arch.

Texas, by the way, outgaining Ole Miss by

double here, 140 to 70 in the fourth

quarter.

A lot of those yards on the ground.

Here's Arch on the ground again.

He's going to get maybe two yards.

They have not thrown the ball with Arch

in a while, man.

It has been a while since they let

him throw.

Rightfully so.

Rightfully so.

I can't say that I would be dialing

up a lot of pass plays for Arch

Manning at this point.

Would you?

I cannot blame Steve Sarkisian.

Look, as I have thought about this week

as the field goal unit runs on here,

Gianni Spetic trying to make this a ten

-point ball game.

We'll pause on that thought.

Let's see if the field goal can go

through true.

Kick is up, and it is good.

Texas now extends their lead 34 to 24

over Ole Miss.

That one was dangerously close to being blocked.

Thank goodness.

Dangerously close.

225 remaining in the ballgame.

Ole Miss has exhausted their timeout, so no

timeouts for Ole Miss.

They do have the two-minute warning.

Probably not going to be able to score

before that.

That was nearly blocked, man.

They're showing the replay right now.

Incredible.

Incredible, man.

Look, as I've had time to reflect, we

were getting to this point before the field

goal.

I do think that the more time goes

on, I think people are starting to see

maybe it wasn't as much Sark as it

is Arch Manning.

And the only pushback I can give for

that, if you don't think that me and

you don't think that the others are right

there, Sark has had three or four years,

what, four years now with Arch Manning.

The fact that Arch is still doing this

is definitely an indictment on Sark.

That being said, the execution is, I think,

you know, just uncharacteristically poor.

I don't remember Arch really even last year

being this level.

I don't.

I mean, last year, I know he did

not dominate games.

It feels like he regressed this year.

I don't even know how you explain that.

I do think that's the biggest criticism on

Sark.

It's not necessarily what's happening this season right

now.

It's the development over the last three or

four years.

I think at this point, you have to

question, what's been happening?

What has been happening with this guy over

the last four years in this Longhorns program?

If you're just putting 2026 right now in

a vacuum, the execution is much, much poorer

than the play calling.

There are open receivers.

Hunter, a comment from Facebook here, believe it's

both of them.

I do think that that is valid.

I do think both of them deserve some

blame.

But I think if you're putting 2026 in

a vacuum, it's much more Arch than Sark.

If you're considering all four years that Arch

has been in the program, I don't know

how this is not an indictment on Sark

that the quarterback that you have had in

your system, the top prospect quarterback, number one

recruit that you've had in your system for

four years now looks like this in year

four.

Appreciate the follows, by the way.

As a Jet fan, I do not want

Arch Manning.

I want the LSU quarterback.

I don't think you're gonna have to worry

about that.

I don't think Arch Manning is gonna be

going high in the draft at this point.

I think Arch is probably a second or

third, maybe even fourth rounder at this point.

I mean, that's how he's playing.

I'm not saying that's where he ends up.

That's not a prediction, but he's playing like

a mid-rounder at best right now.

Edward, what's good?

Absolutely, having Overshown back will be huge.

Talking about the Cowboys game on Monday.

Is he confirmed back?

I have not done injury reports.

I'm gonna take your word for it, brother.

That'll be huge.

I don't know if it's gonna make a

big-time difference, but look, as an Overshown

fan, literally Overshown University of Texas guy, it'll

be nice seeing him fly around the field

again.

Vito, what's good?

TikTok comment here is, interceptions definitely confuse me,

but I'll take a win versus number seven

any day.

I mean, this is the perspective.

This is the ultimate perspective.

Great comment, my guy.

Ultimate perspective here is, you're playing the number

seven team in the country.

What's sad is you know in the media

that this win is gonna be downplayed.

It's ridiculous, but it's just the nature of

being the University of Texas.

You know this win is gonna get downplayed

in the media.

Ole Miss wasn't that good.

It's gonna be more about the meltdown in

the second half from Texas.

You know that's gonna be the media narrative,

and that is disappointing to me because any

other team, it would definitely be a big

-time win, but for Texas, guarantee the media

is gonna view this win as more of

a negative than a positive.

And like it or not, I do believe

media influences the committee.

I think that that is pretty inarguable at

this point.

It is disappointing, but I can already see

it now.

Monday, Tuesday, all the talking heads, look, I'm

one of them, but on a much smaller

scale, all the talking heads, man, that you

know it's gonna be more about the meltdown.

It's not gonna be quality wins, solid win

against Ole Miss, number seven, top-10 team,

solid win.

It's gonna be about how Texas melted down.

It's too bad.

It really is.

It's disappointing, but that is the way that

it goes when you're the University of Texas.

Eric, what's good, man?

Comment from Facebook here.

He had number one, Arch Manning, talking about

Arch, had number one pretty much locked down,

but he's falling off the map.

Yeah, I think he's gonna be coming back

to college next year.

I don't think there's any way around it.

Arch is definitely gonna be back in college

next year.

I don't even think a five-game, six

-game heater here to end the year is

gonna do a whole lot for him.

Maybe, maybe if he finishes out the last

five or six games regular season, Texas makes

the playoff.

He goes on a little run there and

looks really good.

I mean, it is crazy how much this

sport is, and y'all know this, this

isn't rocket science.

This is such a what-have-you-done

-for-me-lately sport.

Arch could have a really strong finish to

the season, and the stock could look a

lot differently at the end of the year.

That being said, I wouldn't be betting on

that.

Arch just has yet to dominate a football

game against a big-time opponent.

He has definitely had some good moments along

the way.

I think we can all remember the bowl

game last year.

We can all remember the A&M game.

He's had some strong moments.

But dominating a game from cover to cover

against a really good opponent, that to me

is not something that Arch can do or

has done consistently.

So I think Arch transfer is a great

question from TikTok there.

I don't see it happening.

Could it happen?

Yes, I don't see it happening.

I just feel like at this point, the

Manning family, the Arch, just everything that went

along with his recruitment, I would just find

it really shocking if they part ways.

Sark wants to move on.

The Manning family wants to move on.

I don't think it does anything for Arch

positively.

Maybe in terms of the football play, possibly

getting a new coach, maybe.

Just a different voice in his head, who

knows.

But I just don't think either side is

gonna be interested in that.

It would have to get, I think, a

lot more ugly for Arch to potentially move

on, whether it's Texas asking him in a

kind of behind-the-scenes, closed-door scenario.

Hey, we're gonna go a different direction at

the quarterback position.

We wanna give you a chance to transfer

somewhere else.

I don't know if Sark and Del Conte

and all of them are gonna be able

to pull the trigger on that.

It doesn't look good if Arch transfers.

It doesn't look good for Texas.

It just doesn't.

Now, sometimes you gotta get over that.

You gotta take it on the chin and

you have to move on.

I'm not saying that is a reason to

keep Arch around, but I think ultimately when

Arch Manning transfers away, it's not a good

look for Texas.

It's not a good look for Sark.

You had this number one recruit out of

high school and you weren't able to really

do anything with him.

You weren't able to make him better.

You weren't able to take his game to

the next level.

It's a negative.

It's a knock on Sark, 1,000%.

All right, we got a field goal attempt

coming in hot here.

39-yarder Ole Miss has kind of moved

it methodically down.

Kick is up.

And it is true.

Seven-point ball game.

Minute 22 left, so gonna see an onside

kick here.

Hands team, gotta be ready to go.

Shane, isn't that weird?

Appreciate the comment here, my guy.

Comment from TikTok, no other college would let

Arch start that couldn't afford him.

Yeah, I think if this is a different

name on the back of the jersey and

a different university in general, I do think

this plays out a lot differently.

Arch is about the only one that could

play this shaky.

He's about the only quarterback in the country

that can play this shaky and still maintain

his spot.

Arch has really not done a whole lot

to really earn the quarterback position, in my

opinion.

At least no competition.

Let me rephrase slightly.

I don't think he has done anything this

year above and beyond to solidify his position

as the starting quarterback.

That being said, you don't have really a

whole lot of evidence from Lacey at this

point to back up either.

That's because he hasn't really gotten an opportunity.

Now, K.J. Lacey did take more first

-team reps.

That was reported by a lot of the

Beats in Austin.

He did take more first-team reps.

But nevertheless, he hasn't gotten in the game

today, save one play when Arch Manning had

to be removed from the game for an

injury-related reason.

He came back in immediately the next series.

But for the third down play, I think

it was earlier in the third quarter, maybe,

had to come out temporarily.

All right, we got onside kick coming here.

This better not get interesting, man.

Come on now.

Come on.

We got the watermelon kick in coming here.

Ball laying flat on its belly right now.

Little spinner.

It's off!

Oh, thank, oh no.

Oh.

Oh, the special teams unit is so terrible.

Oh my goodness.

Oh my goodness.

The special teams unit is so terrible.

He had two chances to get that football.

And you know what's sad is you're trying

to catch that ball, but if you're Littleton,

all you have to do is smack that

out of bounds.

I mean, if you're Littleton, all you have

to do is get that one out of

bounds.

You're an athlete in the moment.

You're not thinking to do that, but there's

not a whole lot to it, man.

Don't be, I won't be shocked at all

if they go for two to try and

win this one, if they do get all

the way down to the end zone.

They got a ways to go, 37-yard

line, but it just didn't have to be

this way.

First play, Chambliss drops back.

Chambliss, sorry.

Tip ball.

Second down.

Nervy times at Austin.

I mean, look, the diehards, y'all know,

it's just, it never could be easy, could

it?

It never can be easy with this team.

Ridiculous.

The special teams unit is such a boon

for this team.

Like, I mean the opposite of that, it's

just terrible.

Can't even get the thoughts out straight, just

what I'm watching right now, y'all.

Ridiculous.

I hope the defense does step up and

get a stop.

Chambliss, man, third and 10 here.

It is gonna be up to the defense.

See what they can do.

Caught, 15-yard gain, 50-yard line, 104

left in the ballgame.

Of course, the third and long.

Of course, it's executed.

Chambliss, all day.

And a drop, wow.

Man, I'm shocked, and it's not because I

want it to be called, I'm shocked that

there wasn't a flag on that.

With how they call some of these hits

over the middle with the safeties coming down,

bearing down on the receivers, I was fully

expecting them to throw the flag on that.

It is, by the way, 34-27, Texas,

if you're just joining us.

We have got ball at midfield, 52 seconds

left.

Ole Miss with the football.

We're gonna have another third and 10 upcoming

here.

48 ticks left on the clock.

Rich, I know, this is a great comment,

man.

I think everybody at the beginning of the

year, there was so much hype, so much

excitement around this team and what Arch Manning

did at the end of the 2025 season,

and now it's like every week, what are

you gonna get?

What are you gonna get week to week,

man?

Third and 10, Chambliss gonna run the football.

He has stopped, great open field tackle.

Great open field tackle, baby.

What a play.

What a play.

Fourth and eight, 30 seconds left.

This one is getting down to the wire.

Play of the game right here.

Chambliss all day again.

He fires and converts it.

No pressure, just no pressure from the horns

right now.

20 seconds left.

No pressure, man, no pressure.

Chambliss just all day to throw on this

drive, all day.

20 seconds.

Here's the snap.

Here's the pressure.

Oh, they can't get to it.

Oh my gosh, tell me he dropped it.

Thank goodness.

Almost a wildly on point play for how

this game has gone.

Ball was tipped, almost went right into the

hands of an Ole Miss player.

Oh, he had it.

Oh my goodness, he had it too.

That was right in his hands.

No.

14 seconds left.

Put some pressure on this guy, come on.

We're rushing three every time.

He's got all day.

Now we rush five, thank you.

Nine seconds.

Ball is at about the 20 yard line.

Look, I'll take the pressure there.

Stop letting him just sit back there, comfortable.

I do it again, bring the pressure.

Don't let him sit back and pick you

apart.

Don't let those receivers run around, get the

ball out of his hand.

They beat you, they beat you.

Rushing five once again.

Ball's out.

And there's gonna be six seconds left.

What you gotta do, you cannot allow him

to sit back and pick you apart.

Just can't do it.

Six seconds.

Maybe two plays left, depends on how quick

they throw the football.

Any kind of in-between the white line,

sack, completion, and down ends the game.

Call a time, they look confused.

Time out if you need it, man.

Herbie says a legal shift.

One second left, most likely.

Texas doesn't deserve this win.

At this point, survive in advance.

Appreciate the comment, man.

At this point, survive in advance.

But I'm telling you right now, it doesn't

matter if they win this game.

It's not gonna be about Texas beating a

number seven team.

It's gonna be about Texas blowing the game.

It's not gonna be construed positively at all.

Any other team, I guarantee you, it's a

positive that you beat the number seven team.

Everybody is going to be negative on Texas

after this game.

Just prepare for it.

The reality is you just gotta find a

way to win.

I mean, it wasn't a good second half.

You just gotta find a way to win.

All right.

Two seconds left on the clock.

Play of the game right here.

Texas with one time out if they don't

like what they see.

They got a trips formation.

Texas rushing about six.

Bringing the pressure.

Ball is up.

And it is intercepted.

Game over.

Texas knocks off number seven Ole Miss.

Never a doubt, absolutely never a doubt, this

game was from start to finish.

Just an absolute up and down roller coaster,

man.

You had the highest of highs in the

first half.

You had the lowest of lows in the

third quarter and the early fourth quarter.

Sark and Arch and this Texas defense find

a way to get this win.

Had to have it.

Season over, if you didn't have it, you

had to have it.

We're gonna go ahead and launch into post

-game show fully.

You'll be taking a lot of comments and

questions along the way.

Texas wins 34 to 27 over Ole Miss.

They improve to five and two.

Ole Miss drops to five and two.

Arch Manning did really nothing to help ease

any concerns after a hot start in the

first half.

The reason Texas wins this game is not

Arch Manning.

It is in spite of Arch Manning and

that does need to be clear.

They, in that final sequence, we can go

back and check it play by play, but

in that final sequence, you didn't have Arch

Manning throwing the football a whole lot, did

you?

You did not have Arch doing a whole

lot of throwing.

He threw it once to Wingo on the

field goal drive.

Every other was a rush.

The one time there on the touchdown drive,

Arch didn't throw the football at all.

You threw the football one time on your

last two drives where you got points.

And Arch, I know, walks it in for

the touchdown, but again, the team wins the

football game in spite of Arch Manning tonight.

I don't think there has been any, any

answers given out tonight for Arch and what

his season, what he is going to be

down the stretch.

I don't think there's a whole lot of

Longhorns fans that are feeling good about what

Arch brought to the table this evening.

First half was elite.

It was, he looked great.

A nice scripted first drive.

You definitely had Arch Manning looking crisp, coming

out, firing the football, throwing and hitting the

slants very, very well tonight.

And then just a complete meltdown.

I don't think they had any confidence in

Arch at the end of the game.

And that is precisely why the only pass

that he threw was a swing pass.

A swing pass to Wingo.

He threw one pass in the last two

drives, which scored points.

Great comment from YouTube here.

Raleek Brown saved our season.

Raleek Brown went beast mode tonight.

There's no other way around it.

Raleek Brown is your offensive player of the

game.

They lose this football game without Raleek Brown

doing what he did in that fourth quarter.

23 carries for 157 yards.

Hollywood Smothers out with an injury.

And credit Michael Terry III.

I mean, look, 41 yards on eight carries.

Terry had some bludgeoning runs there.

Coming in for Raleek Brown after some of

the big fourth quarter runs he had.

Without Raleek Brown though, this game is a

loss.

I do not see the Longhorns winning this

game without Raleek Brown taking over in that

fourth quarter on the final two drives.

Texas wins 34-27 in large part to

his effort on the football field tonight.

Ryan Wingo, I would say an honorable mention.

Seven receptions for 111.

Had a tutty as well.

50-yard reception to add to it.

Arch Manning, 18 for 30, 212.

One touchdown, two interceptions.

Did have a fumble as well.

I think you can maybe dish out blame

a little bit differently for that one.

Although, I would say just being picky, Arch

probably holds the football a little too long

on that strip sack.

Again, that's just me being over the top

picky.

I think even on the strip sack, Arch

Manning holds the football a little too long.

Drug Girl Gaming, what's good?

Comment says, dude, the other team always goes

into halftime and makes adjustments, but Texas is

like, nah.

Look, I have no clue what this team

is doing at halftime, but they might want

to consider mixing up the strategy.

They may want to consider it.

You're looking dominant.

You're looking like a national championship winning team

in the first half, and you are looking

like the bottom of the SEC in the

second half.

It is almost inexplicable.

You cannot make this up.

Three weeks in a row, you have come

out looking like the better team by far.

Against Oklahoma, against Florida, against Ole Miss, you

look like a cut above, a tier above,

a class above, and then in the second

half.

There's no clue what happens.

No clue.

I think Texas has a third quarter issue

coming right out of halftime.

They were able to bail themselves out of

that with a great fourth quarter.

Just disgusting in the second half.

Raleek Brown, thank you.

Thank you, thank you, thank you, Raleek Brown.

We made it.

We made it, y'all.

UTLSU, we'll get to that, what, in a

couple weeks here.

And I don't know, I need to see

what this team does against Mississippi State and

Missouri before I even think about LSU.

Man, I'm taking nothing for granted at this

point.

Nothing.

Fire Jeff Banks' comment from TikTok.

Banks, he's not doing a whole lot to

help his cause.

You had the fake punt that was executed

against the Longhorns.

I mean, look, I know that the broadcast

team, the broadcast crew essentially saying that the

punter went rogue there, saw the opening.

Maybe he's been given that permission from Golding,

but either way, it doesn't matter if the

punter called his own shot or not.

You're giving up a fake punt, man, at

a pivotal point in the game where you're

really looking.

And at that point, I believe it was

24 to three, wasn't it?

I think the fake punt was executed when

the score was 24 to three.

And then you promptly had them come down

and score after that.

So you had the fake punt, and then

you also had, at the very end of

the game, some nonsense with the onside kick.

I mean, look, whether that's Jeff Banks or

not, it gets attributed to him.

You got a watermelon kick going right off

of some dude's arm up there.

Littleton can't snag it.

You just had mayhem in that onside kick.

Again, I can't say with that onside kick,

you can blame Banks a whole lot.

It's execution at the end of the day.

He had the players in the right spot

to make the play.

It's not executing.

But he's naturally going to get the attribution

of the blame.

Two 15-yard penalties on special teams.

Getting to that, appreciate that, because that was

going to be the very next point.

Now, yeah, I mean, the penalties, just in

general, the penalties that this team accrued over

the course of 60 minutes is continuing to

be ridiculous.

Tonight, Texas, you have 14 penalties for 134

yards.

14 penalties, baby!

What are we doing?

This is just undisciplined football, and that is

a reflection of coaching.

I'm sorry.

There are a few things that you can

control out there.

There are some judgment calls, but some of

the penalties tonight were 1,000% within

the Longhorns' control.

They didn't have to happen.

It was just undisciplined football.

Yeah, there's some PI calls that are questionable.

Look, they had the weird false start penalty

that was, ah, I think that was in

the first half.

But some of these penalties were avoidable, putting

it lightly.

Texas, you're not going to beat a whole

lot of top 10 teams giving 14 penalties

and 134 yards in penalty yardage.

What's the rank, Brian?

Ask YouTube comment here.

What rank y'all think Texas will be

tomorrow?

They will be knocking on the door of

the top 10.

I think that they will probably be like

12, 13 at worst.

I don't think there's any way you keep

them outside of top 13.

I think they'll probably be right outside the

top 10, right outside the top 10.

But I'm calling it right now.

Monday morning, there will be more negativity about

the Longhorns than positivity despite knocking off a

top 10 team.

Like there will be a lot more criticism

being hurled at Texas.

It's not going to be about how Texas

found a way, beat a really good Ole

Miss team.

It's going to be about how they choked

this one or almost choked this one away.

And in a way, this win is almost

gonna be devalued by the media, I think.

I don't think that this win is going

to really excite a whole lot of people.

And I'm not saying that I'm included in

that.

I think anytime you beat a top 10

team, be proud of it.

Could you have really throttled this Ole Miss

team?

Yes.

This could have been a bloodbath.

I think that is what's most disappointing if

you're a Longhorns fan, because you know this

could have been a bloodbath.

It should have been 31 to three at

halftime.

That's what's so frustrating and so disappointing about

this team, is you know they have the

capability to blow out a top 10 team.

And they just can't put it all together.

Yo, the kill shot is just this team's

kryptonite, man.

They can't do it.

They cannot do it.

They cannot stomp on the throat, man.

They have to figure out a way to

close games.

And it's so odd.

I don't know if it's a Sark thing

or what.

It feels like every year Sark has been

the coach.

They have issues putting games away.

At some point, I think it does come

back on the coaching staff.

I think you do have to really reflect,

what is it about finishing ball games?

I mean, who could forget Arizona State a

couple of years ago?

I mean, you had that game in hand,

and you let Skadaboo and you let the

Arizona State Sun Devils almost make the comeback

of the century.

Oh, Alex, trust me, we're enjoying the game.

YouTube comment here says, chill out, we won.

I think this is about the most balanced

take you're gonna get, my guy.

This team definitely has the potential to be

great, but they have not quite figured it

out yet.

At this point, it's survive in advance.

You won a game, and anytime you win

a game against a top 10 team like

this, it should be celebrated.

What gets frustrating about this team is you

really could have totally controlled this from start

to finish, and made it ugly, and left

no doubt, and instead, you almost lose.

You almost dropped this one.

Halftime adjustments, no row what's good.

I think that that definitely has to be

under the microscope moving forward.

Colt says, TikTok comment here, it's their identity

at this point.

It really is, not being able to close

ball games.

It is becoming a part of the identity,

sadly.

I think the point here is this, for

anyone that thinks I'm going too far on

the negative, I don't get that take at

all.

Maybe if you're coming in for five seconds,

sure, but trust me, I'm more positive than

negative about this game.

You found a way to win.

Raleek Brown, the defense, I know the defense

gives up more points than what they typically

do, but when you have the offense turning

the ball over three times, that is to

be expected.

It's to be expected that you're gonna give

up some points when you turn the ball

over three times.

Renegade Outlaw, what's good?

I agree, I mean, I'm being a realist

here.

This is a really good football team with

really talented players.

Arch Manning is definitely a question mark, but

this team is so talented that they can,

I think, even overcome Arch Manning.

I really do.

But with Arch, he is just not able

to figure out how to put together a

full 60 minutes, and that does concern you

when you're thinking about Texas going up against

the big time opponents.

Look, he did beat Ohio State, gotta give

him credit for that.

But when you're thinking about playoffs, when you're

thinking about facing a Georgia team, potentially down

the stretch, I know that that is not

on the schedule in the regular season, but

I'm talking, hey, maybe in a playoff, possibly

in the SEC Championship, when you have to

face some really good football teams, and I'm

not saying Ole Miss isn't, but you just

cannot afford some of these mistakes.

Dustin, what's good, man?

Thanks for hanging out.

Hey, look, I'll say this, Ole Miss is

a fun team to watch.

They are.

I've enjoyed watching Ole Miss football this year.

I try to keep up with the other

SEC teams as much as I can.

Chambliss, Lacy, what a great combo.

Chambliss almost did it.

I mean, he almost brought them back from

a 21 point deficit.

Dude is good.

Just did not have the gas at the

end to finish it out, but it was

close.

Very, very close.

Appreciate all you guys hanging out.

We are celebrating, celebrating a 34 to 27

win over the Ole Miss Rebels.

It definitely, I think, is a positive sign

that you have the reaction you do from

a lot of the Longhorn faithful.

I mean, and I'm just perusing the online

channels, clearly checking the chat here.

I think there's a consensus here.

You're happy and you're thankful that they found

a way to win tonight, because if you

didn't, the season's over.

And let's be honest, nobody, nobody wants to

be on the outside looking into the playoffs.

It doesn't matter how flawed this team is.

Nobody wants to be watching meaningless football and

looking forward to another bowl game like you

had last year.

Nobody wants that.

This isn't like professional sports, rebuilds and stuff

like that.

I don't see it the same way.

I just don't.

You have to win year in and year

out.

There's not rebuilding years in college football, man.

Not for the University of Texas.

I know some people, hey, get Lacey in

there.

You know, let him develop, let him get

some reps.

No, man, this isn't rebuilding mode.

It's not.

You gotta win football games.

You're the University of Texas.

Look, I'm not saying that Lacey coming into

the game for Arch would have spelled a

loss, but we definitely have to keep the

mentality straight here.

You gotta win games.

You're the University of freaking Texas, man.

With one of the, and let's just call

it like it is, one of the highest

payrolls in college football, if not the highest.

Got the NIL dollars humming, pumping through that

system.

You gotta be winning football games.

Texas nearly coughed up a very winnable football

game, but they didn't.

You survive, you advance to the next round,

to the next week.

Every game basically a playoff game from here

on out.

Hey, Nessie was good.

Definitely a comment here.

Need to check the blood pressure after that

one.

Absolutely.

Absolutely.

Next week, Mississippi State.

We'll talk about Mississippi State here in about

five minutes or so.

Last 10 of the show.

We always do a preview of the week

ahead.

Eric, what's good, man?

Comment, what's my take on Mizzou?

Hey, Mizzou's surprising, I think, some people this

year.

And look, at home, in Columbia, against the

Longhorns in a couple of weeks, doesn't feel

like a gimme to me.

That's for sure.

That game absolutely does not feel like a

gimme.

Look, beat Florida, 45-17.

Handled A&M.

Now, they did lose 31-3 to Ole

Miss.

It's a bit of a crapshoot right now.

I mean, some of these SEC teams, Texas

included, you're just kind of wondering, what's really

going on here?

What is really true?

What is reality?

What is not?

Here's the reality, though, for Texas.

You've got a really good defense.

You got an elite defense.

You have got a very average quarterback.

And I'm going to say, I think you've

got an above-average running game.

I think Raleek Brown, definitely a bit of

a coming-out party for him tonight.

I think Raleek Brown showed you something, and

they should rely on him and lean on

him a little more heavily.

And get the mesh plays going.

Get the read options going.

I don't think there's a whole lot of

reason to trust Arch's arm right now.

It's going to fail you at some point

in the game, either the decision-making or

just the throws.

I mean, that interception that he threw, the

out-route, I don't know that that's a

great decision, but it's also not a great

throw.

You're going to throw that out-route across

the field, the one that he got picked

off on, man, you got to have some

serious mustard on that football.

Yeah, you got to have some heat on

that, and not nearly enough, we'll say that.

I don't think it's a great decision.

I don't think it's a great throw, but

Arch throwing the football scares you, especially late

in the game.

I know Arch in the hurry-up has

looked better than Arch just at regular tempo.

I don't want to sit here and say

that you feel like you totally have no

shot if you have to count on Arch

to win a game, but you don't feel

great.

You don't feel great.

We keep on rolling.

Do I think Georgia, Coleman, what's good?

Do I think Georgia beats Florida next week?

Yeah, I think Georgia bounces back, man.

I know that they took a loss last

week, but I think they bounced back nicely.

Look, if you're Georgia, if you're Kirby Smart,

the good opportunity to really reignite the flame,

light a fire under your team.

He definitely said as much, right?

Could be just what the doctor ordered.

Georgia, I think they'll get back on track

just fine.

We lose another.

Do I think Sark has the gumption to

bench Arch?

They should.

I mean, if you lose and you are

three losses, is there a small outside shot

that you could make the playoff?

I guess.

And it's only because you beat multiple top

10 teams.

In Texas, you've got the Ohio State win.

Technically, you beat three top 15 teams.

I mean, they've got a good resume.

Okay.

The loss to Oklahoma, the loss to Florida,

not great, but you've lost two games by

a combined six points.

One was a rivalry game.

The Florida loss, I think it's just gonna

be just like last year, hard to explain

away.

It just is.

It's gonna be real hard to explain away.

Three losses, there's an outside shot.

It's not a great shot, but I think

there is an outside shot with three losses.

I'm gonna say it's a non-zero chance,

but if you get to three losses and

Arch continues to look poor, yeah, I don't

necessarily feel like Lacey is going to do

a whole lot worse than what Arch is

right now.

I really don't.

And Lacey, I mean, I know not a

lot of people know about some of these

backup quarterbacks.

They've got some good quarterbacks, but Lacey is

legit.

I think that he definitely has a high

-quality skillset.

Obviously, you're not gonna know until he gets

into the game how he responds, and it's

a bit of a crapshoot in that regard,

but he definitely comes with some accolades.

I think at this point, it is going

to be interesting if Arch continues to have

these uneven performances, what Sark decides to do.

HookahMorning78, we were talking about it earlier.

Comment says, NIL won't let 16 get benched.

I do think there's a lot of politics

with Arch Manning, and that's not rocket science.

That is not rocket science.

There's a lot of politics with Arch.

And you beat Ole Miss.

Arch looks bad in the second half, but

looks really good in the first half.

When you win, it's easy to explain away

some things, or should I say easy to

explain away some things?

I don't wanna say easy.

I'll say it's easier to explain away some

things, but at this point, I don't know

how much the drop-off really is from

Arch to Lacey.

I would be very curious to see it.

I mean, wouldn't you?

How much worse is it really going to

get with Lacey comparatively to Arch Manning?

Texas Vivo, Sark can't make second-half adjustments.

There's plenty of track record.

I mean, that is not a hot take

at this point.

The second half has not been a forte

for Sark and for his staff.

There have just been too many examples across

multiple seasons.

We were talking about the Arizona State playoff

game from a couple years ago that the

Longhorns ended up pulling out thanks to Golden

and Quinn Ewers.

You have a bevy of evidence that it

is a problem.

And I do think at this point, you

do have to look at the coaching.

Definitely have more losses coming.

I hope not, but let's just put it

this way.

I don't think it would shock anybody at

all if Texas lost another game.

I don't think that would be at all

shocking.

I don't see it.

I don't see that being a surprising experience

by any means.

Texas absolutely has the ability to win the

rest of the games on the schedule.

I could see them beating Mississippi State.

I could see them beating Missouri, LSU, Arkansas,

A&M.

They could run the table.

They've got the talent.

They have the talent to run the table.

The problem is, are they going to get

consistent play from the quarterback?

Are they going to have the special teams

not give away points and not commit stupid

penalties?

It's like the defense is the only constant

on this team.

The offense and the special teams, huge variables.

Huge variables at this point.

And I just don't know in a big

game if you trust it to be consistent.

Chris, what's good?

Chris says, agreed.

They should be favored in all five remaining

games.

They should be.

They could easily win the next five games.

Missouri, I think, and LSU are going to

be the two toughest.

I know the A&M game is a

rivalry game, but I think they take care

of A&M.

I don't feel like that game is going

to be an L.

I'll knock on wood, but the games that

worry me the most, Missouri and Columbia, followed

by LSU and Death Valley.

I think if they can get past those

two road games, I feel pretty confident that

they could finish out the year without another

loss.

I think at home next week against Mississippi

State, they find a way.

I'm not saying it's going to be a

blowout.

It should be a blowout.

If they can get past Missouri and LSU,

I think they handle business against Arkansas and

A&M.

I just think they have A&M's number.

A&M, not a great football team this

year.

Marcel Reed, I mean, look, we're having our

own issues at quarterback.

Marcel Reed is having a complete fall off

from where he was last year and two

years ago.

I think they take care of business at

Kyle Field, I do.

I don't think that's an intimidating place for

Texas to play.

Now, is it a great environment, a great

atmosphere?

Yeah, I do believe it is.

I don't think Texas goes into Kyle Field

intimidated.

I think that they have proven that over

the years.

I really do.

Would it shock me if they drop one

of these games?

Let me just bring this full circle, no.

It shouldn't shock any Longhorns fan if Texas

finds a way to lose one of these

games.

But all we're saying is, they easily have

the capability to win them.

You saw, it could have been a 30

plus point blowout tonight against Ole Miss, who

at one point this year, one point this

season was getting talked about as one of

the best teams in the country, right?

I mean, you won't know that based on

Monday's talk show, TV, all the sports shows

and talking heads.

You won't know that.

They're gonna make Ole Miss seem like much

lesser of an opponent.

You're not gonna hear about how Texas really

took care of business against a quality top

10 opponent.

You're just gonna hear more drama about how

Texas can't finish ballgames, which is sad.

I think they need some shine for this

game.

But at the same time, I get it.

You have an MO.

You choke in the second half, or in

this case, you almost choke.

I appreciate the comments.

Hey, Jacob, what's good?

Hey, look, that is something I always try

to do.

I mean, look, I get into it like

any diehard does when Texas is rolling, when

Texas is doing well, but man, I think

at this point, anyone that feels like this

team is a lock to do the unthinkable

this year, win the national championship after the

last two games that we saw before this

one, I can't say I am believing in

a natty quite yet, but I see glimpses.

I'll just say that.

I see flashes.

I think tonight you saw a flash.

And look, unfortunately, this team just has not

put together against a quality opponent, a full

60 minutes.

Waiting for it.

Texas Bevo comment TikTok here.

Get ready for baseball season.

Schloss has got to, man, look, he's got

to step up his game this year too.

He's got to step up his game too.

Look, I'm excited for basketball.

I'm excited for baseball.

We'll get to that in due time.

Football always comes and goes quickly, man.

I sure hope they've got something special in

store for us over the last six weeks,

eight weeks, hopefully, however long until early January.

It'd be fun.

All you got to do is get hot

at the right moment.

It's like any sport.

You just got to get hot at the

perfect time.

All right.

Hey, let's do full preview of Mississippi State.

And then after that, we are signing off

for the day.

So by the way, go into Austin, and

then you go into Columbia for your next

two games.

We'll see how Texas looks at home once

again against a team that they nearly lost

to last year.

I mean, I don't know who could forget

the Mississippi State finish.

On the road, we needed Ryan Niblett doing

his thing.

We needed a phenomenal pitch and catch, man.

That was the game where Arch goes out,

right?

That was the game where Arch had the

concussion.

And I totally forgot about this for a

second, man.

You had a lot going on to finish

that game.

The Texas looked dead in the water.

They looked dead.

And then Arch goes down with the injury.

And then remember Caldwell?

Caldwell came in and threw the beautiful touchdown

ball.

And remember, at that point we were saying,

is Caldwell the guy?

Do you go with Caldwell after he walks

it off in overtime, wasn't it?

It was.

This is all coming back to me now.

I hadn't thought about this game in so

long.

Matthew Caldwell, God bless him.

I wonder what Matthew Caldwell is doing these

days.

Wonder what he is up to, man.

That was a beautiful touchdown pass.

Was that Mosley?

Was that Caldwell to Mosley?

I'm gonna have to go back and look

at this now.

Thought it was.

Yes, it was.

Caldwell to Mosley in overtime.

What a game.

I'm gonna have to go back and watch

rerun of that.

All right, hopefully it's not that interesting of

a game.

Hopefully it's a little bit less of a

sweat than what it was at Mississippi State

in 2025.

That was literally one year ago today.

That is crazy.

Mississippi State, by the way, lost 23 to

15 to Oklahoma.

Fluff Bothwell rushed for 111 yards against the

Sooners.

They look against that defense.

That's definitely a dude you wanna circle.

Kamario Taylor exited against Oklahoma.

Parker Puckett replaced him.

That's gonna be interesting, monitoring the Mississippi State

quarterback situation, but we know with Bothwell, they

have got a really high quality running attack.

Mississippi State against the Sooners did go one

for 11 on third down.

They gave up four sacks.

Wonder what the prognosis is on Simmons.

Can't say that I saw a lot of

updates on him, so we will have to

continue to look through and see what we

can find in that regard, but that might

be a day-to-day thing if I

had to guess.

Oklahoma, they did throw for 283 yards against

Mississippi State, but you'd like to think Arch

could do something special against them if you've

given up that much, but then again, when

we went up against the worst secondary in

the SEC in Florida, it didn't go very

well.

It did not go very well.

Chris, thank you for this.

I just totally spaced on the prognosis for

Simmons.

Is it Missouri?

I'll take your word for it, man.

I have not seen any updates and have

not followed that injury as closely as I

probably should have, but Missouri actually is bringing

up, ringing a bell right now at this

point.

So one more week without him.

You want him back from Missouri, if at

all possible.

You want Simmons back from Missouri.

Three to four weeks, that was the anticipated

timeline.

Thank you, sir.

Appreciate you.

If you can get Simmons back from Missouri,

that would be huge.

That would be absolutely huge.

All right, beyond that, we'll wrap things up.

So today, let's land this thing.

What a game.

Longhorns looked like they were going to cruise

to a 30 plus point victory.

Instead, they took us on a wild ride,

finishing with a 34 to 27 dub over

the Ole Miss Rebels.

Tonight told me that this Texas offense has

explosive potential.

They do.

They have explosive playmakers, and they should with

the money that they put into this offense.

They should.

The first half against Ole Miss was some

of the best football that we have seen

from Arch in this group, and it's a

shame that the second half is going to

overshadow it.

I'm still unsure about whether Texas can consistently

sustain said offense for four quarters and avoid

giving opponents opportunities to get back into ball

games.

It happens far too frequently, and it has

happened far too frequently in the Sark era

of Texas Longhorns football, which I will still

say, I said it last week, even after

the loss to Florida, Sark has done more

good than bad, much more good than bad

for Texas football, comparatively to other coaches.

We are in the national conversation nearly every

year under Sark, and we cannot say that

over the last even 15 years.

I'm not saying that Sark is amazing.

I'm not saying that you should lower the

standards.

I am saying a lot of negativity on

Sark last couple of weeks, rightfully so when

you lose two winnable games, especially when you

lose to a rival that you should have

kicked in.

Same thing for Florida.

But Sark is a net positive by far.

Still, you have to figure out a way

to solve these second half issues.

Next thing I'm watching, the injury updates, how's

Cam Coleman?

What's he gonna be out for, if anything?

How's Colin Simmons gonna progress?

And you just hope that they can carry

the positive momentum coming back, winning the game

late after giving up 21 point lead, excuse

me.

How do they come out next week against

Mississippi State?

Let me check comments one more time.

Coleman has definitely, I think, been a disappointment

so far this year.

I think some of that is Arch Manning,

not able to get him the football consistently,

but Coleman has had some key drops, man.

I can remember multiple key drops from him,

tonight included.

Bandwagon fans that keep talking trash.

Look, I definitely have my issues with Sark,

and I think that he has not had

a perfect season by any means, but if

you're really going bird's eye view, pilot mode

view, Sark has done way more good than

bad for this program.

I mean, even under Herman, occasionally you were

sort of in the national conversation, and the

Sugar Bowl win over Georgia with Ehlinger at

the helm was huge, but with Sark, man,

it's perennial.

It's every year you're in the national conversation,

and that is a reflection on the job

that he's done.

It's a reflection on the money that has

been spent, the recruiting, all that, but I

definitely don't think Sark needs to be fired.

I'd be worried about being able to get

somebody better.

Honestly, I'm not sure how they could top

this.

There's only a very, very short list of

names that I would say are gonna be

an upgrade, a clear upgrade from Steve Sarkisian.

Now, the play calling, you know, I know

a lot of talk about, does he need

an OC?

Yeah, I get it, I get it, but

I think over the weeks, I'm starting to

lean more, what would this look like with

a really competent quarterback?

I mean, look, Quinn Ewers, I know some

people say even Quinn Ewers did not develop

as well as he should have under Sark,

and that's an argument maybe for a different

day, but it definitely looked like a much

better offense with Quinn Ewers who I think

we would say at this point is on

a different level than Arch Manning.

I'm curious to see Lacey in the system.

Maybe it'd be absolutely terrible, but I don't

think you're gonna be that much worse under

Lacey than you are right now with Arch

Manning.

I really don't.

I feel like Arch is game managing at

best, and he's not necessarily doing a great

job game managing either.

It is weird, though.

Texas Bebo, I mean, I was just talking

about this.

Got my dad in town this week.

We were watching the game tonight.

So we were just talking about, dude was

a quarterback.

Sark was a quarterback at BYU.

You would think that the quarterbacks under Sark

would be phenomenal coming from a former quarterback.

Sark spent some time in Provo playing for

the Cougars.

You would think that he would be able

to elevate the game of Arch.

That's the biggest indictment on Sark, more so

than the play calling is how have you

not gotten Arch Manning to a new level?

In that argument, this is another argument.

Marco, I've heard this too.

I mean, is this the best system for

Manning?

I think that's debatable if I'm being honest

with you.

Sark loves to run the football.

He loves the short, quick passes.

Now, could Arch be running the ball a

little bit more?

Could they get him involved in simpler ways?

I think yes, but I don't know if

I'm sitting here feeling like Arch is just

a fish out of water in this system.

A lot of it is short passes, and

you saw that with Quinn Ewers.

Yes, occasionally going for the home run ball,

which happens a lot down the sideline, up

the seam.

I don't know if it's a perfect fit.

I mean, I don't know if it's amazing,

but I think that to say it's like

a night and day, just a total mismatch

for his skillset, I don't know if I

would go that far.

All right, y'all.

Appreciate all you guys hanging out.

Hey, if you have not hit that follow

button yet, I would love if you do

so.

We do this every Saturday, by the way,

and I cover a lot of other teams

on the channel from DFW originally, so a

lot of the teams that I cover are

from the Dallas-Fort Worth area, so we

cover the Cowboys.

We cover the Dallas Mavericks, the Dallas Stars.

We cover the Texas Rangers, of course.

It is called Right on Rangers for a

reason.

Rangers are definitely first on the channel, but

I pretty much cover every one of the

teams that I've gone through just through that

list during the seasons as best as I

can.

It has been a busy, busy time of

the year, especially with the Stars and Mavs

finally fired up, so that's all to say.

You'll definitely see some different content from different

teams coming out if you follow tonight from

the Horns.

I will post multiple Longhorns videos over the

course of the week, but you'll see a

lot of Dallas Stars, Dallas Mavs, a little

bit of Texas Rangers mixed in there too,

Cowboys, of course, so just full disclosure, but

appreciate everybody that's followed on the live tonight.

Thank you so much.

Robbie, I'm with you on this.

Too many penalties tonight.

You gotta figure that out.

Have to figure that out.

We will be back next week, though, for

the Mississippi State game.

Hope you'll join us.

Hope you'll come back and hang out.

And hey, look, if you're not a fan

of some of the other teams that I

mentioned, still come hang out anyway.

Talk some friendly trash.

I'm sure we got some Astros fans that

are Longhorns fans, some Texans fans that are

Longhorns fans.

Come hang out, man.

We will be live tomorrow, though.

Actually, no, not tomorrow.

Monday night, Cowboys Eagles.

We will be live Monday night.

I'll also be live on Wednesday for my

Texas Rangers off-season show, so those are

the next two times that you'll catch me

on the live, man.

I appreciate all the comments tonight.

Thank you so much.

Means a lot.

A lot of different ways to support the

channel.

That's a big one.

Thanks for liking the show, following, commenting.

You guys are great.

Help keep the show fresh, and I appreciate

it.

We got it done today.

That was not easy the whole way through,

especially in the second half, but we found

a way to get it done.

Appreciate all you guys.

Hope you have a great rest of the

weekend.

Enjoy your Sunday tomorrow, and as I always

say to end every show, God bless, and

hook them.
