I mean,

your chances are becoming more and more

numbered.

They really are.

Texas coming out with this kind of

as I was setting up for the show,

I was trying to remember the last time

I got on a live and the Rangers

were comfortably ahead.

Maybe it's more recent than I think,

but I think here's a better point.

It isn't often that you get to enjoy

a five-plus run lead.

It's definitely not frequent in twenty

twenty six as a fan of Texas that

you have gotten to enjoy a game almost.

I don't want to say no sweat because

that's what happened when you say that it

automatically jump starts a rally.

But I mean, this one,

a six run league going into the seventh

can't ask for much more.

You guys know I'm a big Cody Freeman

fan.

It's great to see him back around the

but it's great to see him in the

lineup doing work.

albeit in a very small sample size, but...

Look, I'll take this right here.

You've got an opportunity with Corey

Seager up.

Now he's getting intentionally walked,

but you've got an opportunity with

Langford up here who's been on base a

couple of times to do some damage.

You definitely open up the door for the

intentional walk by tagging there.

Cody Freeman advancing from first to

second on the fly ball,

but I like it.

If you know you can get it,

go for it.

I definitely was not anticipating a tag.

That is one hundred percent for sure

there.

Had no thought that he was gonna break

towards second on that one.

Wyatt's gonna pop up here, man.

He is definitely trying, I think,

to still find a comfortable rhythm.

He's had a couple of nice extra base

hits, a little bit of fortunate contact,

I would say,

on some of the doubles that he hit

over the weekend.

Today, you roll it back and yeah,

he does have a walk.

He does have a hit.

You're just waiting to see him go on

that crazy tear where it's one Oh five

off the bat every single time he's capable

of it.

And the Rangers would love to see it.

Although tonight don't even need it.

It's a beautiful thing.

all of you guys after a couple of

days on vacation with the fam,

feeling refreshed, feeling ready to go.

This last thirty game stretch is going to

be curious.

That is for sure.

Nothing is going to surprise me.

I've told you guys very consistently over

the past couple of weeks.

I am taking it one game at a

time with this club.

headed to the bottom of the seventh

It was three-two at one point.

Rangers turned a three-two game into a

six-run cushion.

Seager three for four with two doubles,

three RBI.

Burger hit home run number twenty-two

against his former team a few innings ago.

And Kumar Rocker, look,

not Rocker's best start by any means,

but he gave Texas some work tonight.

He gave them some length,

five and two-thirds, two earned runs,

three walks, eight strikeouts.

He was getting some swing and miss.

I mean, look,

if you are really trying to be glass

half empty on Rock,

he probably deserves a couple more runs on

the total.

I mean,

Brandon Nimmo absolutely saving him with

one of the best catchers you'll see this

year.

I definitely am not going to sit here

and pretend like Rocker had a great night.

I really don't think he did.

But he did well to settle and just

give Texas an opportunity.

You have only two runs on the board

from Chicago, a first place team.

I think at the end of the day,

you have to sit there and at least

say he gave you a shot.

Are there still concerns with the

consistency?

Are there still questions about the long

term?

Yes, definitely.

Definitely, yes.

But for tonight, you could have easily,

and I think in the past,

made an argument for a Kumar Rocker

meltdown after things kind of started

going sideways.

That bases loaded situation was huge.

When did they have those bases loaded on

him, man?

Was that the fourth inning,

third or fourth inning?

They had the bases juiced.

Must have been the fifth inning, huh?

Maybe not.

I'm still scrolling.

That bases loaded moment was probably the

game right there.

Bottom of the third.

That's right.

He got back-to-back strikeouts after

getting the Benintendi ground out.

That was the game.

I mean,

he gives up an extra base hit there.

He gives up a bomb there.

I mean,

this is a totally different ballgame.

Good for Rock.

He found a way tonight.

Bottom line.

The comment from YouTube almost two years

ago today when Jankowski robbed the

walk-off home run.

Yeah, I mean, Jankowski...

robbing that home run is legendary.

I still get the chills thinking about that

one.

And I know it didn't end up being

anything crazy in terms of the greater

season as a whole,

but that was one of the best catches

I've ever seen.

And the stakes of that Jankowski catch,

which he made in Chicago a couple of

years ago,

I mean,

you lose that game if he doesn't catch

that ball.

So even though it didn't have a real

deep meaning in terms of the result,

the end result of the Rangers season,

still going to be a moment I think

that sticks out in a lot of Rangers

fans' minds.

First thing I thought of, man,

Travis Jankowski would be proud of that

Brandon Nimmo catch.

be so proud of that Nimmo catch I'm

sure he was uh how could you not

think about that Jankowski catch two down

here Robbie Ahlstrom making quick work but

he's got Murakami to deal with here with

two outs I'll tell you what I'd much

rather face this guy with nobody on the

bases

We have a number of other things to

We'll talk a little bit about Joc

Peterson getting ejected.

taking the words right out of my mouth.

I'm not a big fan of the jock

ejection.

A lot of people online,

some people real fired up by it.

I didn't see it that way at all.

I really didn't.

You know, jock to me, frustrated,

in a slump,

and you kind of let the emotions get

the better of you.

This isn't really a game you want to

get thrown out of.

And at that point it was a close

game.

Not a big fan of the Joc Pederson

ejection.

And, you know,

probably an even not a bigger fan of

people pretending like it was some

galvanizing moment.

Nobody in the dugout cared at all.

In fact,

it looked like most people were a little

turned off by the antics.

You know, you didn't have Skip going out.

In fact, Skip looked disgusted.

And you have really nobody else fired up

in the dugout when he exits.

Yeah.

big strikeout here of Murakami.

Great four outs from him, by the way.

I'm just not at all moved by it.

If you are,

it's not really a hill I'm here to

die on.

But I'll tell you this.

You always look at the reaction of the

teammates when it comes to an ejection.

You always look and see what's the team

doing?

How's the team reacting?

You didn't see a lot of emotion when

Joc got ejected.

I mean,

you just go back and rewind it.

You didn't have a lot of people real

hacked off that Joc was out of the

ballgame.

If anything,

I thought the vibe was kind of the

opposite.

You had some people hacked off that Joc

couldn't shut up and stop running his

mouth.

I mean, dude, we need you.

Stay in the game.

We're in a playoff race.

I don't think anyone was fired up by

the ejection.

I do think the entire team got fired

up by Elias Díaz getting hit by Jose

Urquidy.

I think that was one thousand percent what

lit the fuse here in this game.

To me,

I think Joc was justified in being upset.

By no means am I saying that home

plate umpire had a great game tonight.

I just don't think that's the time or

the place to get ejected.

Right now,

you're playing a first place team.

You're trying to string together wins.

You have a very thin margin for error.

You just can't tell me that this was

the right moment for Joc to get ejected.

And again,

you look at the reaction of the team,

of the coach, the manager,

people around him.

Nobody really cared.

And Joc, look, anyone that's, again,

gassing this up like Joc's some kind of

dog,

the dude ran right down into the tunnel.

I mean, look,

if you're going to hype him up like,

Joc is a dog, man.

We need a dog on this team.

Dude, go out and get your money's worth.

Go out and get your money's worth.

I mean,

I don't understand anyone hyping it up

like that was some kind of Adrian Beltre

moving the on-deck circle, you know,

passionate back and forth.

It wasn't.

Like, it was...

very blase to me i'm sure jock was

hacked off at the call looked like he

he did have a gripe at the call

itself and probably at the fact that he

didn't get the challenge but i'm not a

big fan of the ejection in fact i

think you're fortunate to be in this spot

the fact that he didn't

didn't have a bigger impact,

didn't have a bigger negative impact being

out of this game.

I know some people rebuttaled,

I don't mind that he's out of the

lineup.

He's been bad.

I mean,

I guess that is one way to look

at it.

Joc has not been great.

What is the O for at,

or did he finally break it while I

was, oh no, he didn't break it.

Last seven games, he's O for thirteenth.

By the way,

Nimmo going to strike out here.

When's the last time he got a hit?

Let's check this out.

So last time Joc got a hit was

August twelfth.

Wow.

Yeah,

that that's a little bit of a slump.

I think that's even more why I just

don't like the antics tonight.

is cooking.

a guy the Rangers have got to see

get going.

you're only going to play against

right-handed starters.

These prolonged slumps are killers.

Last time he got a hit was at

L.A.

on August.

Last I heard, yeah,

I think they did end up sending him

back to AAA because Burger ended up being

okay.

I think if Burger would have needed time

or would have needed an IL stint,

I think they would have brought up Osuna.

So Osuna was with the team,

but they ultimately did not end up

activating him.

He was kind of on taxi squad.

So, man, when I saw,

I think it was, what, Saturday morning?

When I saw Saturday morning,

all the Rangers beat writers tweet out

that O'Hoppe and Osuna had lockers.

I'm like, oh my goodness.

They just did both things I've been

begging for in one day.

Getting Osuna back up with the club and

bringing up O'Hoppe.

Look,

Osuna is going to be back up eventually.

I do think that when rosters expand,

he'll be up.

I don't really know of anybody else worthy

of getting a call up at this point

from AAA in terms of the position side

of things.

I think Osuna will definitely be one of

the two.

And then I think they'll probably bring up

another pitcher.

I don't think they'll do two position

players,

probably bring up another pitcher.

But bringing up Osuna,

I think that will be helpful.

You've got another opportunity for him to

continue to be a spark for this team,

whether it's coming off the bench,

whether it's getting some spot starts here

and there.

You guys already know.

He had a home run against the lefty.

I've been pumping up Burger against

lefties, man.

It is a beautiful thing to watch.

He did have a double against a

I don't think that their farm is terrible.

but you definitely know the Astros are

getting a little older.

he is going to be a big name.

I think I have some respect in terms

of feels like they're going to put a

competitive team out there.

I can't say that I sit in fear

of Houston.

I think that the Rangers can match up

with them.

I feel like the Rangers can match up

with a lot of teams.

It honestly is just going to be dependent

on the bats.

I think you have to definitely think

through,

what's this lineup going to do in October?

And that's been a big concern.

But really,

a lot of the teams that the Rangers

could go up against,

I think they have a shot.

But the margin for error for this team,

we've talked about it all year long,

it's very thin.

You've got to have everything clicking.

And that's not an every night thing for

Texas.

I definitely...

feel like the Astros making the moves that

they did today, the GM and the coach,

right?

Didn't they announce that the coach is not

coming back either?

Espada?

Kind of weird timing.

There's clearly some strife going on

behind closed doors.

I definitely am not upset about it by

any means,

but I do think that the one...

I don't want to say compliment...

But the one thing that I do appreciate

is you've got the Astros clearly willing

to do uncomfortable things.

And it's definitely something that I have

criticized the Rangers for.

Rangers a lot of the times want to

keep it real nice and cozy.

Don't want to rock the boat too much.

Clearly,

the Astros being where they're at right

now in a playoff spot,

if the season ended today,

I think that they would... Let's see.

Yeah, they would be.

They'd be in the wild card.

Even with this Rangers win,

we'll knock on wood.

You guys have heard me talk about

Philadelphia.

You've heard me talk about Boston.

You have some teams that even if they

are in first place, even if they are...

a team that's had success over the past

several years,

not unwilling to do things that are risky,

not unwilling to do things that are

uncomfortable.

And look,

I think Texas is going to have to

get a little uncomfortable at some point.

You've kind of been able to keep a

lot of the

Marcus Simeon being a big one, right?

Even though he really,

really declined over the past two seasons.

But you've still got Corey Seager.

You've still got Nathan Eovaldi, right?

You've still got a lot of the figureheads

of that twenty twenty three.

And I'm not going to sit here and

list off every single player that's a

carryover.

We'd be here a little while.

There are players coming and going.

But nevertheless, I think when you have.

An opportunity.

You see something in front of you.

You're not particularly thinking that,

hey,

we have a legitimate shot at winning a

World Series based on the effort that

we're getting from the front office,

from the roster.

You sometimes have to make these kind of

moves.

We'll see what happens with Houston.

I'm curious.

I think the Rangers are going to find

themselves in a similar spot.

I think the Rangers are going to have

to make some uncomfortable decisions at

some point.

Yeah.

Brian, I kind of, I always say it.

I kind of equate it to what the

Warriors did.

I know some of you guys are NBA

fans.

Some of you not so much.

I kind of equate it to what the

Warriors did when they had Mark Jackson

coaching and they were in the playoffs and

they were,

they were doing well and they decided to

fire Mark Jackson and they hired Steve

Kerr and the rest is history.

I think sometimes you have organizations

that are okay with making it to the

playoffs and having a little success,

getting a little taste.

And you've got some organizations that,

hey, man, that's the bar.

We're trying to far exceed that.

And I think the Rangers,

I wish the Rangers would take a page

out of that book at times.

I feel like Texas is often a little

too slow to react and then it's too

late.

I think we've seen that a number of

different times with this organization.

I would like to see a little bit

more aggression.

I think at this point,

it is what it is.

We're going to ride with what we got

and it's going to be great.

But I would love to see Texas get

a little radical in the offseason.

And who knows what could happen.

Who knows who's coming, who's going.

But I see this offseason one way or

another being prime.

A prime candidate for change.

We'll see what unfolds right now.

that things work out for houston don't get

this would be awesome if it went well

trust me it's exactly the opposite

But at the same time,

you think about the fact that Houston is

in a spot right now to go to

October and they're making moves like

this, aggressive moves.

You have to be a game clear, which...

Sounds easy, but we know how this goes.

It is wild how close it can get

at the end of the year.

So I will say much rather would win

the division.

of teams versus six.

I think having to do the scoreboard

watching for like five or six different

teams, that's tough, man.

A lot easier to just look at what

What did the Mariners do?

the one thing that you got to keep

the White Sox record,

It is not totally out of sight that

the Rangers could finish,

if they did win the division,

is you've got the top two division winners

I know there were some people that were,

very small minority of Rangers fans in my

perusing of social media.

Like, you know, he actually came through.

he had a couple RBI late in ballgames.

It's like they're bringing – they brought

him up to hit –

Deep shots, deep flies.

They brought him up for the extra base

hit.

They didn't bring him up to be Alejandro

Osuna.

And that's no knock on Osuna.

But look,

they already have a lefty outfielder that

can give you some singles.

And God bless him, Osuna,

one of my favorite players.

You know this,

but they brought up Jared Kelenic to hit

homers and extra base hits, man.

And that's just not what you got.

It's not a very long runway for him,

but it doesn't have to be for a

guy who signs in the middle of the

year like he did.

Kumar Rocker,

it's just kind of another start where you

see the potential,

but you still kind of walk away,

at least for me.

Maybe we agree to disagree on this one.

it's still kind of one of those starts

for him where you find yourself still

unsure.

That's kind of where I'm at with Kumar.

I appreciate that he came back,

really bared down,

and was able to shut down this White

Sox offense largely over the last several

innings.

You had that big third inning,

bases loaded, putting out the fire.

And from there,

he really didn't have a whole lot

He did get a little busy there in

the sixth inning again,

ultimately was pulled before recording the

final out.

But with Rock,

I think you walk away from this seeing

the flashes, seeing the future,

but still just feeling unsure and like he

has a little bit too much volatility for

your liking.

That's where I'm at.

I applaud him for being able to come

back,

bounce back from some of the big hits.

He was getting hit hard there.

The Nimmo home run robbery, I mean,

that was a hard hit ball.

If not for an incredible play by the

Rangers right fielder, Brandon Nimmo,

this might have been a very different ball

game.

I'm just still kind of in jury's out

mode on Kumar Rocker.

I am hoping that he can find that

consistency eventually.

Just feels like he is just a bit

of a Jekyll and Hyde pitcher at this

point.

You see the dominance,

but you also see the susceptibility to

melts.

And at this point,

I think he is just going to have

to continue to work towards that.

Even Kiel is giving you a reliable start

where you're not having to put Robbie

Ahlstrom out in the bullpen, warming up,

getting loose in the third or fourth

inning.

You want to feel like Kumar is going

to give you five or six solid and

hopefully give you a little bit more than

that.

Tonight, he was able to get through.

Applaud him for that.

Not hating on him too much tonight in

a win.

He only gives up a couple of earned

runs.

Absolutely, it could have been more.

Brandon Nimmo makes a great catch.

Rocker gave us a shot,

kept us in the game,

and I think that's the most important

thing to accentuate.

If you want to talk long-term on Kumar,

I think there's still a lot of questions.

And we'll see what they decide to do

when Jack Leiter comes back,

when Nathan Eovaldi comes back.

I don't know how you move Cal Quantrill

out of the rotation.

And maybe they decide to go a different

direction with Leiter.

You know,

we're talking a lot about Rocker being a

guy that might find his way out of

the rotation into the bullpen.

I mean, look,

I told you guys I'm not a big,

not a big proponent of Leiter or Rocker

in the pen.

I don't think they throw enough strikes.

I know they get some swing and miss,

but I don't think they have enough command

to really be successful in high leverage

moments.

But hopefully,

regardless of what we've seen from them,

if they do get tasked with going out

to the pen, they thrive.

That would be the best case scenario.

I feel that you have to ride, though,

with Cal Q. He's been so consistent.

If you qualified him,

he doesn't have enough qualified innings,

but he has the second best starter ERA

in the American League behind Cam

Schlittler.

It is ridiculous what Cal is doing right

now.

I am very interested to see how the

Rangers handle some of these starting

pitchers coming back from injury.

We'll keep on going.

Yeah, look, I did see that too, Sugi.

I saw Rocker still not getting over on

a ball hit to the right side.

I mean,

these are the things that I think stack

up towards, man,

maybe this dude needs to be refining the

game a little bit at the minor league

level.

The last thing you want in October or

feel a bit susceptible to the free pass,

especially when that pressure cooker is

turned up like crazy.

I feel like Cody Bradford would be an

arm that you one hundred percent trust to

at least throw strikes.

Maybe the ball gets put in play,

but I think I feel a ton better

about him moving out there than I would

rocker or lighter at this point.

Cam Cauley is going to make the postseason

roster.

That one's going to be interesting.

You feel like it'd be nice to have

him for his defense.

It'd be nice to have him for his

speed.

The way that they use the bench, though,

Lord Tubbington,

it's kind of like my only thing with

Cam Cauley is the Rangers love using all

the bench guys.

It's not like they hold on to a

player to pinch run him to get a

steal late in the game.

They burn through that bench, man.

And I just wonder,

does that take a little bit away from

what you might normally do with Cam

Cawley?

I just feel like the way that the

Rangers utilize their bench is

it's almost like he's not even going to

have the opportunity to go in and pinch

run in a tight game because they're

probably going to use him in the seventh

or the sixth inning for a matchup.

The way that Skip and the coaching staff

utilizes the bench from game to game,

they definitely are not saving up anything

for tomorrow.

Let's put it that way.

They are of the mindset that you can't

use them tomorrow again two times.

Might as well burn them tonight.

Cam Cauley, I think,

would be really valuable to have on a

postseason roster.

You do want a guy with his speed

that can go first to home on a

ball in the gap without question.

You do want a guy that you feel

like you can throw out there at second

base.

You can throw out there in center field,

and they cover a lot of ground for

you, give you a lot of range.

That would be great.

Rangers badly need Corey Seager down the

stretch run to find a way to power

this team to wins.

One of my biggest complaints has been a

lack of star power,

a lack of stars really showing up to

help the team to really take the team

out of the adversity that they faced a

lot of this year and just be a

consistent driving winning force.

And I really hope that Corey Seager has

flipped that switch as the Rangers have

just thirty games left in the regular

season here.

This is a different lineup when Seags gets

hot, when he gets going.

And you saw that tonight.

Still unsure about the lower half of this

lineup.

If I'm being a little bit nitpicky here.

You had some good performances from the

bottom of the order tonight.

You had Cody Freeman giving you a couple

of hits.

You had Jake Burger giving you a couple

of hits.

Ezekiel Duran I don't really count.

But Evan Carter had a nice double.

If the bottom of this order can be

a little bit more consistent and not be

the black hole that it was for the

last month,

I think you just are gonna feel a

lot better overall about Texas not totally

going dark in October,

Evan Carter especially.

I mean, Jake Burger, I do think,

and I still submit,

I think he's a bit limited,

especially against righties.

I would probably be platooning him.

They are, I think,

intent to play him most days,

but I'd probably still be platooning Jake

Burger.

Get him in against lefties as much as

you can.

If there's a weak righty,

maybe you think about that.

But against tough righties,

I would be giving Jake the day off.
