We are going to bring you the rest

of this embarrassing ball game.

Not much of another way to explain it.

Houston open the door.

Astros lose earlier today.

The world is your oyster, Rangers.

And instead you have this.

This is a bad night to be a

Texas Rangers fan.

You don't have much positives to take away

from this game.

I mean, I'll try, but there's not much.

Joc Pederson gonna ground into a game-ending

double play.

My goodness, Jacques.

That is it.

Putting us out of our misery.

The Rangers are gonna drop this one nine

to one.

And you now have dropped three in a

row after winning game one on Tuesday in

Seattle against the Mariners.

Now drop three straight.

One of the most crucial points of the

season.

Rangers had a chance to cut the division

from three-game deficit to a two-game

deficit.

And instead, Texas gets smoked.

After actually leading the game one to nothing,

remember that?

Remember way back when this game was one

nothing, Rangers?

Arizona scoring four in the fifth immediately after

the Rangers take the lead.

MacKenzie Gore had been pitching a bunch of

zeros and suddenly Texas decides to score a

run and we forget how to shut down

the opponent.

It's just the Rangers for you in 2026.

There's no other way to explain it.

You went from having the game in your

hands to getting buried in two innings.

And that's what makes tonight brutal, right?

There's 15 games.

There were 15 games left coming into this

one.

14 now.

The team you're chasing, the Astros, they lose.

The door cracks open and you respond by

wasting one of the best standings breaks that

you could have asked for.

We were talking about a couple of days

earlier.

I think it was on Tuesday.

You had the Astros and you had the

Guardians playing in the early slate and the

Rangers were playing in the late slate and

I said, and it's nice to be able

to have that opportunity to know what you're

chasing.

Are you chasing an opportunity to gain a

game in the division or are you chasing

an opportunity to stay right where you're at

and not lose ground?

I always said I like the idea of

that, the prospect of that, and today, what

more motivation do you need?

You've got the Astros dropping a game right

in front of you.

You have a chance to come out and

really make a statement and instead the offense

comes out black and the bullpen, I think

you can throw MacKenzie Gore there a little

bit as well, melts.

Really bad meltdown from some arms that honestly

the Rangers have trusted a lot at different

points this year.

Jacob Junis probably number one and I know

I was hard on Junis the other day

and I do feel like since the all

-star break, since he's returned from his injury,

Junis has not quite been the same, but

for me, Junis kind of pales in comparison

to the up and down and more down

than up season that MacKenzie Gore has given

us.

I mean, once again, you have an opportunity

MacKenzie Gore on the bump to really be

that dude that we traded for in the

offseason, spent five prospects on and you come

out and right after your team puts you

up one nothing, you decide to have a

meltdown in.

It's totally the story of Gore's season and

I just can't underscore enough how disappointing Mackenzie

Gorin has been.

There's no denying it.

I don't know how much is really redeemable

at this point, barring the Rangers going on

some kind of miraculous 10-0 run over

the next 10 days.

And even that, it's kind of crazy.

I was looking around just X and Facebook,

different posts and some people are doing the

math on it and the Rangers could have

a really good stretch of 10 games and

still not gain a lot of ground depending

on what Houston and what other teams do.

You're just in a place right now where

you have dug yourself a hole that you

don't have control of getting out of because

you've got teams in front of you.

You don't have that many games left.

It is what it is.

I hope the Rangers don't go down without

a fight.

That was the mantra all year.

Good fight.

Good fight.

Not much of that tonight, but that has

kind of been the mantra all year long.

And I would love to see the Rangers

do something, something over the next 19 days

or so to show us that they got

a little backbone, man.

They've got a little pride.

Not going to totally go out in the

2026 season with a complete whimper.

the Rocker game.

you my take, giving you my analysis here.

Did not feel very confident in winning the

series if you didn't get tonight.

And I just said in so many words,

well, what's more embarrassing 2025, September or September,

2026.

What's more embarrassing.

I mean, I think some of us have

tried to put the memory of September, 2025

out of our minds, right?

You had the Rangers going on the little

rascals run and it came crashing to an

end right around this time.

Actually, when a Dulles Garcia came back from

injury, you went down to Houston, Merrill Kelly,

DeGrom maybe of all the, I'm not sure.

I know it was Merrill Kelly and DeGrom

kind of melted down in Houston.

And that was kind of the beginning of

the end.

Then the Rangers came back home and they

lost series to the twins and to the

Marlins.

And it just got ugly.

You remember that last year?

I know, again, I know some of you

tried to put it out of your mind.

I can't blame you, but I do remember

last year got quite embarrassing.

You did have just that total unraveling after

a Dulles Garcia came back from injury and

the Rangers really disrupted that little rascals rhythm

that they had.

I, in some ways I understand why they

did it, why they put Dolly back in

and other ways.

I think that they needed to pivot and

they probably should have wrote out what they

had going for them this year.

I don't think there's any similar situation to

really compare it to, but I did comment

before the game.

It doesn't make a lot of sense to

me tonight that Josh Jung was not in

the lineup today.

I talked about this on the show and

I know he got hit by a pitch,

but my understanding is he was okay.

He ran the bases afterwards.

And so I wasn't really under the impression

that the hit by pitch was anything that

was preventing him or going to prevent him

from playing today.

I just don't understand why you don't have

Josh Jung in Arizona right now.

That doesn't make any sense to me.

I understand that you had a plan when

he went on the rehab assignment.

You're going to have him do five games

or six games, two series.

At some point you got to pivot.

And I'm not saying Josh Jung wins you

the game today, but that is just one

decision to me of many that just makes

me totally bang my head against the wall

when it comes to this front office and

when it comes to the coaching staff.

You had to pivot today.

You lost two brutal games in Seattle.

Your star third baseman is raking down on

his rehab assignment.

Well, right now they're in Salt Lake, right?

I mean, they're just a few hours away,

stayed away up in Utah.

Get his butt in the lineup, man.

What are we waiting for?

What does it matter if he plays games

for Round Rock, if he plays games in

a Round Rock jersey, or he plays games

in a Texas Rangers jersey?

What does it matter?

That's just one decision.

Some people were getting on me today like,

dude, I mean, come on.

It's not just about Young.

Of course it's not.

I'm not going to be able to fit

everything into one post, man.

I can't give the wide frame perspective every

time I hit send on a post.

Sometimes you got to break things down one

thing at a time.

It's just one decision of many I just

shake my head at.

And Merrill Kelly is not that great, man.

He's a good pitcher.

He's not terrible.

Dude's not dog water, but man, he's got

one of the highest walk rates in the

game.

He was walking people tonight and you just

don't see the Rangers do anything with it.

It was the most boring four innings of

baseball I've ever seen in my life.

I'm not even holding back on that.

I know maybe there's been worse, but maybe

this is a little prisoner of the moment.

baseball I've ever watched.

Every time I see Merrill Kelly pitch, whether

it's against us or on a highlight reel,

it's painful, man.

You think about the prospects we gave up

for Merrill Kelly.

You think about the fact that everybody really

knew he was coming back to Arizona.

And you think about the fact that he

didn't perform.

He did not perform at the level we

needed him to.

And in fact, he soiled the bed in

Houston in his biggest start of the season

last year in September.

Hmm.

With the trajectory machines, no need for Young

to be in AAA.

Look at the Yankees bringing back Judge.

Yeah.

I mean, for me, patience appreciates you as

always, my guy.

DH tonight.

You could have put Joc Pederson at first

base, and you could have given Jake Burger

the night off.

He is a different hitter when he's not

did not feel good coming out of that

Seattle series into today.

I did not feel great.

I didn't feel a lot of hope coming

into this series.

Look, those of us that have been around

the game for a while, those of us

that played the game, it's a quick reset

when you're a baseball player.

And when you're a next day, here we

I've learned how to do that over the

years, but I can't say I came out

of that Seattle series feeling like there was

a lot to look forward to in this

Diamondback series.

Of course, anything can happen, but just my

gut feeling, which is not always right, but

my gut feeling coming out of the Seattle

series was this isn't good.

This isn't good.

The way that they lost on Wednesday and

on Thursday was painful.

You have two back-to-back one-run

losses where the offense really didn't show up

at all.

You score five runs in the last two

games.

You're facing Merrill Kelly tonight.

You have MacKenzie Gore going, who's been so

up and down.

I was just not feeling tonight's ballgame.

I thought tonight you had to have if

you wanted to win the series.

Didn't feel great about getting a win tonight,

but nevertheless, anything can happen in baseball.

It's a beautiful sport for that reason.

Gore was looking great.

Honestly, he was looking great.

When we scored a run, he suddenly decided

to totally implode.

No idea what the correlation was there, but

that's what it was.

That being said, baseball is a crazy, beautiful,

weird sport.

And sometimes it just doesn't make sense.

And with 11, 12 games before the Rangers

are technically eliminated, I'm not willing to totally

can the season at this point.

I'm not.

And so you'll see me here every night,

even on tough nights like tonight, you'll see

me, but it's getting depressing watching some of

these games.

I'm not going to lie to you guys.

This was a depressing game to watch.

Embarrassing, embarrassing, you know, and there's a couple

of things that just rubbed me the wrong

way about this game too.

I know I posted about this a couple

of times, like the, the backseat segment about

Corey Seager, just not being able to dive.

Did anybody else catch that?

We got like a one or two minute

explanation on, you know, how some players just

can't dive.

They just can't dive headfirst to stop ground

balls.

You know, you go through Corey Seager highlight

reels, man.

And look, dude's a walking world series legend,

man.

I mean, he's got some highlight reels out

there.

Corey Seager can dive to get a baseball.

There's plenty of highlights.

There's one in Arizona.

We all remember the Corey Seager double play

that got turned with a roll, the Chapman

on the mound.

Don't we?

Yeah.

That play happened on the field that the

Rangers played on tonight.

Corey Seager diving to his left, flipping the

ball, the semi, they turned the double play.

That was a huge moment in the game.

Corey Seager can dive, man.

He just, for whatever reason, didn't do it

on that one play.

It wouldn't have mattered, but I just don't

like don't, don't rub salt in the wound

by patting me on the head and telling

me that it's okay.

Some guys just can't dive.

Come on.

Why are we making up excuses?

That's just insulting to me.

I look, I know Mike and Dave are

nice guys.

I just don't appreciate stuff like that in

the slightest.

It makes me feel worse about what I'm

watching on the field.

It really does.

I don't need to be told or patted

on the head.

And you know, some guys, some major league

baseball players just can't dive for the baseball

in the infield.

Come on.

What are we doing?

What are we doing, man?

Oh, Seager's a good player.

There's no Seager slander here, man.

Like I don't know what was going on

today.

It felt like he wasn't really that willing

to leave the feet today on a couple

of different plays.

I love Corey Seager.

I'm definitely not in the camp that some

Rangers fans found themselves in this year.

Like man, we got to get him out

of town.

He sucks.

I definitely said you pick up the phone

on a Corey Seager trade.

If you can get a massive overpay, but

by no means was I leading the charge

on getting Corey Seager out of town.

Corey Seager doesn't seem like a leader.

Well, I think that that is pretty well

documented.

I don't think Corey Seager seeks to be

a vocal leader.

Corey Seager is most certainly not trying to

be an Adrian Beltre out there and make

no mistake, Beltre, that dude would let you

know.

I remember posting what probably about three or

four weeks ago, a Rougned Odor Adrian Beltre

history moment, you know, Beltre was chewing out

Rougned Odor for getting thrown out, trying to

stretch a single into a double when the

Rangers were down one run.

This was like a game 10 years ago,

I think in 2016, I think it was

against the Mariners.

Actually, Ruggie got thrown out, trying to stretch

a single into a double Beltre, choose him

out.

And then extra innings or ninth inning or

extra innings, Ruggie hits a walk off homer.

And of course, Beltre is one of the

first ones hyping him up.

That to me is leadership.

The Rangers just don't have that style of

leader.

Do they have a lot of, you know,

maybe lead by example guys?

Sure.

But I don't think they have that strong

vocal leader at this point.

Is Skip leading?

Well, I don't think that any of us

are totally going to be able to answer

that question.

The reality is we're not in the clubhouse,

but here are the facts.

And I've tried to spell this out in

so many ways over the last several weeks,

really over the course of the whole season.

When you're a losing team, this is the

kind of criticism that you're going to get.

When you're a losing ball club, everything's on

the table for criticism, including the manager and

how well the manager is actually managing or

leading the team.

Everything's under the microscope when you lose consistently.

And when you lose badly, you're in a

playoff race and you just got embarrassed, right?

This was an embarrassing game.

I know that, you know, some people don't

like when that terminology is used, but it

is embarrassing.

I'm sure that the players would tell you

it's embarrassing.

It's an embarrassing game.

You lose 9-1, you're in a playoff

race, you're supposed to be competing for a

spot in October, and this is what you

come out and do on a Friday night

after getting spanked against Seattle.

And I know it was one-run games,

but look, you got beat two out of

three, and those games were ugly.

You had some good pitching.

DeGrom was masterful, but the offense was terrible

in those two games.

Zach from TikTok says, Wyatt going down on

three pitches consistently is a huge issue.

Yeah, Wyatt's in trouble.

I mean, Wyatt and Evan Carter to me

are in trouble.

I'm not loving what I'm seeing from those

two.

Doesn't take a rocket scientist to make that

observation.

I mean, look, you had Wyatt Langford today,

one for four, did have a single, struck

out twice.

Evan Carter, 0 for three with a walk.

I put out an Evan Carter video today.

I think you guys understand how I feel

about Evan in a nutshell.

I just think the Rangers have to figure

out a way to get him right, and

it's not going to be by continuing to

start him.

There's not much minor league season left.

I feel like Evan probably needed a minor

league reset.

You just had the injury to Josh Jung,

and you really didn't have a great opportunity

to send him down.

I think had Young stayed healthy, you maybe

could have got Carter down to AAA in

August.

Josh Jung went down in late July.

I definitely would have done a Carter reset

at some point this year.

Felt like just because of injuries, they weren't

really able to do it.

But Evan Carter needs a hard reset, and

I'm hoping it can come in the offseason.

We've got to get this guy back to

at least within the zip code of 2023.

I don't know if he's going to get

back to 2023 mode, but we got to

get him back to the zip code, at

least within a couple of states.

Right now, I feel like it's East Coast,

West Coast with 2023 mode and 2026 mode

right now for Evan Carter.

We have discussed on the show how good

the team looks when Wyatt Langford and Evan

Carter are playing well, and we've also looked

at what are the numbers when those guys

start.

I mean, coming into this season, the Rangers

were a winning ball club when Evan Carter

and Wyatt Langford started.

I don't know what the record is now.

I can't imagine it's a very good record

at this point, but the fact that those

two guys are struggling is a big reason

why the Rangers are where they are.

Nate, frustration here.

YouTube comment, how thrilled Mike and Dave seem

to sound about the immaculate inning.

And Sugi follows it up and says, YouTube

comment here, at least the radio guys were

mildly peeved that it happened.

Yeah, I don't really love at all getting

hyped up for another team's accomplishment when you're

in the middle of a really bad spell

of games like this, and the season is

kind of crumbling before your eyes.

I'm not appreciating anything that's getting accomplished by

Merrill Kelly or by the Diamondbacks, whoever threw

the immaculate inning, man.

It's been a long day, I think, for

all of us, especially after having to watch

that ball game.

But when you're losing games and the season

is slipping away from you, yeah, I'm not

trying to hype up anybody on the other

team at all.

needs a reset too.

Wyatt hasn't lived up to his potential.

I keep telling you guys, I should have

stuck to my guns back in May.

Remember, some of you guys might remember how

much crap I was getting online for my

Wyatt Langford take.

And my comment, I don't even feel like

was that bad, but in May, when Wyatt

was really struggling, I commented something to the

effect of Wyatt Langford is playing like a

bottom-of-the-order hitter right now, or

he is hitting like a bottom-of-the

-order dude right now in the Rangers lineup.

And honestly, as the seasons played out, I

think I was spot on.

I definitely got some traction for that one.

In fact, that went a little viral, man.

Somebody, I forget which MLB creator retweeted me

and was kind of dunking on me, but

it got like, I don't think up to

a million views, but it got into hundreds

of thousands of views.

Somebody commenting basically on one of my ex

posts, basically trying to say like, dude's an

idiot.

He doesn't know what he's talking about.

Should have stuck to my guns.

I kind of had fun with it.

I'm like, yeah, I'm a good sport.

You guys know that.

I can definitely eat some crow with the

best of them when I get it wrong.

I don't shy away from bad takes or

anything like that.

But honestly, my Wyatt Langford take aged pretty

well from May, when you really think about

it.

Wyatt Langford has not been a good hitter

at the plate.

He's called himself terrible.

I believe that was a quote from Kennedy

Landry, or I don't know if Laura got

that one.

Somebody got the quote from him and Wyatt

basically said himself, yeah, I'm playing terrible.

I am playing terrible.

I said I was going to get the

Corey Seager numbers 190 with runners in scoring

position.

What are we doing?

And I've got my detractors online, but I

should have stuck with that.

I should have stood on business when it

came to that tweet on Wyatt.

I shouldn't have backed down.

Would have been right on the money.

Wyatt Langford has been bad, really, since he

came back from his injury.

I think a lot of people are going

to blame it on that.

And when you think about it, the Rangers

were already kind of laying the groundwork.

You know, they've talked about Wyatt Langford fighting

through ailments and stuff like that.

So they're totally laying the groundwork for excuses

to run rampant on why Wyatt Langford has

not been very good.

You know it.

You know it.

A lot of you guys like me can

see through some of that nonsense.

When that Wyatt Langford report came out, he's

dealing with some ailments from previous injuries earlier

in the season.

Most of us are like, yeah, trying to

set up some excuses, trying to lay the

groundwork for why this season didn't go well.

So everybody can say, you know, hey, that's,

I guess, a pretty good excuse.

You know, give him a break.

Let's see how he looks when he's fully

healthy next year.

And like next year when he's still struggling,

people will say, well, this is just like

a first full season for him.

He's never really been healthy.

He's always had to miss time each season.

He's never played a full season.

You guys already know how I feel about

the full season excuse.

You play the Diamondbacks, a playoff team, and

then you've got to go play Boston at

home.

Boston's a really solid ball club.

Not really a team you want waiting for

you when you get back to Arlington.

Let's be real about that.

I just don't feel like at this point

the Rangers are set up super great to

do a little rascal's 16 and four stretch.

I mean, look, mathematically, you got 14 games

left.

And what's wild is I believe even if

they go 10 and four, which would be

a bit unprecedented for Texas, let's say the

Rangers go 10 and four over the next

14.

That might not even be good enough.

And going 10 and four might not even

be good enough to get you over the

hump.

Because even if the Astros played 500 ball,

I think 10 and four would be pretty

much dead even.

And then the Astros have the tiebreaker, right?

If we go 10 and four and the

Astros go seven and seven, I believe we're

tied.

And then the Astros get in by default

because of the tiebreaker.

Isn't that crazy?

I mean, but that's the hole that the

Rangers are in.

You go 10 and four, the Astros can

play 500 ball and they still make it

in over you.

I will just go back to this.

The frustrating thing to me will always be

in March and in April and in May.

I'm taking grenades and some of you are

taking grenades from fans telling us to pipe

down, dude, it's early.

It's early.

It's May, bro.

Dude, simmer down.

It's June.

It's July, dude.

There's still three months left in the season.

How many times did people clap back with

that over the course of 2026 when people

got negative about the Rangers online?

And so many of us, I feel like,

stood pat and said, dude, a win or

a loss in April is the same as

a win or a loss in September.

It counts the same, the exact same.

And so all this season did is reinforced

to me.

There's no need to play the long game

when it comes to judging a major league

season.

I'm so tired of hearing the people that

feel like you got to play 90 games

before you can have an opinion on this

team.

I can't tell you how many replies I

would get in my comment section.

Dude, you can't judge this team yet.

It's only been two months, 60 games.

You can't judge this team over the course

of 60 games.

And this is the reason why some of

us were being hard on the team back

in the spring, back in the early summer

months, because we knew that it's going to

come down to a handful of games in

September.

And you're too busy soiling the bed in

March and April and thinking that you've got

all this time and you don't.

And then you're in September with two weeks

left and you're on the outside looking in.

That's where the Rangers are at right now.

It's too bad.

Let's see.

Rangers are terrible.

They have next to zero comebacks this season.

They definitely have a lot of what we

call fake comebacks, the ones where it's like

6-2 in the ninth and they score

a couple and make it 6-4 and

you're feeling a little better about yourself.

same cloth in this regard.

I tell you guys all the time, every

game, I treat every game like a playoff

game.

And I know that you can't manage a

162-game season like that.

You can't burn through your bullpen every single

game like you would in a playoff game.

But that's how I cover this team.

Every game's like a playoff game, man.

You don't want to give away any wins

that are sitting out there in front of

you.

Scariest thing is there's nearly no future in

this team, especially with the pitching staff.

The pitching staff part, I do kind of

agree with.

I'm a little bit worried about the pitching

outlook.

Rangers are really going to have to get

lucky nailing down some good free agents because

right now, I don't think rocker and Leiter

are lost causes, but I'm worried that they're

just not going to turn into the number

ones that you were hoping they would be.

I do feel like the ceiling on Leiter

is maybe like a solid number two, not

like a 1B, but like a solid number

two starter.

I think that's the ceiling.

I don't know if he's going to get

to that ceiling, but I think that is

the ceiling.

And then with Kumar rocker, I'm getting like

at best number three starter vibes.

I'm not getting higher than Jack Leiter in

terms of the ceiling.

I think rock is at best a solid

number three.

I feel like maybe he's going to turn

into a bullpen guy if he can match

up with the command.

I'm bearish on rock, and I know maybe

I'm being a little reactionary to a bad

season from him, but I'm bearish on him.

A little more bullish on Leiter, bearish on

Kumar rocker right now.

Rangers are really going to have to pop

with the free agents that they are hopefully

able to acquire from the position perspective.

Seth, I feel a little bit better like

Dreiling and you also obviously have Walcott

coming up and there are a couple of

other interesting bats down at the triple A

and double A level.

I definitely don't feel like those guys are

sure shots.

Walcott feels like the closest thing, but we

know how this goes.

I mean, you know, Jurickson Profar, excuse me.

He was good for a time.

And obviously the PEDs helped that a couple

of years there, but Profar was, was not

the number one prospect that the Rangers hoped

he would be either.

Jose says Leiter would be great.

Rocker can't stay healthy.

I think that Leiter, like I said, the

ceiling is solid number two.

And I think maybe I would predict he's

going to be like a solid number three,

kind of like he was what 2025, like

kind of a solid number three starter.

I think the ERA was under four in

2025.

We'll see what happens.

A Ranger's chance at 60 for you guys.

I think that that Rohan, I think that's

what it has to be, man.

I don't think there's any way we're catching

the straws.

I mean, there is a way, but it's

not a great chance with how things are

stacked right now, especially with the tiebreaker.

and you guys still have the tiebreaker.

I do think that my biggest fear is

that we pretty much just get this same

team in 2027.

The lockout really discourages CY and Ray Davis

from wanting to send money for wanting to

spend money.

And we kind of get the same exact

product in 2027.

You know, they roll out Nimmo Seager Langford,

Carter, Josh young.

And none of, and none of these guys,

you know, like are, are terrible.

I Evan Carter's not having a great year,

but even he has some redeemable qualities.

I just fear that it's going to be,

let's just run it back again.

Let's hope for bounce backs again.

Like, Oh, that would be the most painful

thing.

You would almost love to just see some

fresh faces.

And it's not like any of those dudes

are like cancers.

You just got to get them out of

town, but you almost would just feel better

seeing some freshness, seeing some different guys out

there, seeing some different dudes in the one

through nine.

That would make me feel a little bit

better.

And I put out many different content pieces

over the last couple of months.

Like these players are not as irreplaceable as

some Rangers fans think they are.

Like you would swear that, you know, Jake

burger irreplaceable because he's got the RBI total

in the home run total.

You can't replace Jake burger.

I feel the exact same way.

I think Wyatt Langford, the ceiling is there.

I don't think they're going to bail on

Wyatt.

You look at the infield Josh young.

I don't, I don't think Josh young is

irreplaceable.

He's got a good bat this year, but

there's not a lot of other qualities to

his game that are above average right now.

Now the bat is a big thing, but

unfortunately the Rangers have too many of those

kinds of players on the roster.

It'd be one thing.

If Josh was like one of two or

three, Josh is like one of four or

five players on the roster right now that

can really only do one thing.

It's just not going to go well.

So there's not as many irreplaceable players on

this roster as you think.

And I feel like the pulse of Ranger

nation right now is seeing some fresh faces

would make us all feel a little bit

better.

And it's nothing personal.

And I don't think one guy alone is

the problem, but I do think just to

have a new injection of life and energy

via some players from outside of the organization,

free agency, trade, whatever it might be, it

would at least make you feel a little

bit better, a little more positive about this.

in any better of a position, if they

would have probably been wise to sign.

little bit, but you wouldn't have gone over

the luxury tax.

Luis Arraez would have been outstanding.

Uh, let me keep on rolling here.

We've got a few other things that I

wanted to comment on tonight before the show

is over with, look, if you're just joining

us, Rangers lose nine to one Houston did

its part for us.

They lost three, one on a walk-off

Homer from junior common arrow.

That was before the Rangers game even started.

And that left the Rangers with that gift

sitting right in front of them, getting back

into the division race.

They would have been only two games back

tonight with a win because of that Astros

loss.

Instead, they're getting run out of chase field,

getting embarrassed nine to one, man.

It's just a September opportunity that you really

cannot afford to leave on the shelf.

And the Rangers did tonight.

It's wild, but Texas actually had the lead

in this game.

It was one to nothing in the top

of the fifth inning.

And then the Rangers were going for that

shutdown inning.

And it's almost like McKenzie Gore tightened up

a little bit.

Like, oh man, I actually have a lead.

Let me go ahead and promptly make this

interesting.

Instead of getting that one, two, three clean

shutdown inning Arizona scored four in the bottom

of the fifth after Texas scored the one,

you know, Texas came back up to the

plate and the bottom of the, or the

top of the sixth inning and just totally

got shut down on nine pitches.

That was Justin Martinez, by the way, striking

out Langford Carter and burger on nine pitches

for the immaculate inning.

Then after that, Arizona scored five more.

It was just such an embarrassing sequence.

Wasn't it that fifth and sixth frame just

so embarrassing.

You have the lead, then you have the

four runs, and then the five spot, the

immaculate inning, you do nothing to respond in

the top of the sixth.

That was just ugly.

Look, three hits tonight.

Then you had a couple poured on late

five hits total.

You know, the, the pitching got destroyed, obviously.

I think that is the first place you

start, but you know, Texas also had five

hits on the night.

They had three hits through seven innings.

You can't spend the entire night pointing at

the arms when the offense is barely giving

you a pulse out there.

And then that is exactly what the problem

has been over the last three games.

Really the two losses in Seattle.

What was the issue?

You weren't scoring September.

Doesn't care, you know, which of the three

facets of the game are failing first.

And I say, you know, offense, defense, pitching

kind of your three facets, right?

September doesn't care, man.

It's clutch baseball.

You're either clutch or you're not clutch in

this month.

And the Rangers just didn't get enough clutch,

especially from their star players who were hit

list tonight.

Minus shock.

Pederson, Seager, Duran, Nimmo, hit lists.

While Langford did have a hit, he had

a single beyond that two, three, four in

the lineup hit lists.

Arizona definitely tonight, I think showed you what

the Rangers should be playing like Arizona is

right in the thick of a playoff spot.

Texas is too, but there was one team

that, that looked hungry, that looked like they

were playing for something.

And there was one team that looked like

the season's over.

Arizona came into tonight, 78 and 69.

Now they're 10 games over 500 after the

win.

Texas came in just three games behind Houston.

Both clubs have real September stakes.

And you know, only one of them played

with urgency tonight and it wasn't Texas.

And this is where to me, if you're

not already on this page, which I think

a lot of you guys are, but if

you're not on this page, this is where

just one game, it's just one game, right?

It's not healthy.

Of course, it's just one game, but there

are so many times where we've said that

this season that it's finally caught up, man.

The bill is finally due.

You don't need to worry about the math,

the elimination number tonight to understand that this

loss was damaging.

Texas still has hope it's not over until

you're mathematically eliminated, but it's not looking good.

This team has not given us a lot

of hope that they are going to be

able to put together a strong run to

go into October with momentum to even get

to October.

Texas has the opportunity, but they're wasting it

so far.

And the math is getting uglier every time

it happens.

yesterday and was scheduled for another live BP

session in Arizona today.

Don't know if we got an update on

I think any contribution from Nathan Eovaldi at

this point would matter because at least you're

giving your staff some innings eaten up by

Evo, but you're just wondering if it's going

to be too little too late for some

of these guys to come back.

very surprised that the Rangers did not get

Josh young in the lineup tonight.

It's not going well right now.

Your season is slipping away.

Get your best hitter.

And Josh young has been the Rangers best

hitter thing.

Joc Pederson was kind of neck and neck

a little bit there.

I'd probably give it to young, let your

best hitter play and help you.

I don't understand why he can play in

salt lake, but playing in Arizona is just

a huge no, no.

Come on, man.

They could absolutely use another legitimate offensive option.

It wouldn't have mattered tonight.

The pitching was bad, but I don't like

the decision-making and the philosophy in general

there.

I mean, he could get hurt playing in

salt lake, just like he could get hurt

playing in Arizona, man, Jack Leiter, 60 day

IL latest update is that he has not

resumed throwing after the bicep soreness.

So I don't think we can count on

Jack Leiter to be coming back and helping

us.

Maybe he would be in October, uh, in

October piece, if we can pull our heads

out of our butts and somehow go on

a run and make it happen.

But I don't anticipate Leiter being a guy

that's going to help out the Rangers in

the regular season in 2026, from here on

out tomorrow, we have a seven 10 central

time.

starter is to be determined right now.

Schedule is getting shorter and shorter.

Kumar rocker has been up and down, up

and down.

I can't say I carry a lot of

confidence into tomorrow's game.

That being said, we'll roll through the rocker

numbers and see if maybe I'm overreacting here.

Kumar over his last seven games, six 47

ERA, six 47 ERA for Kumar rocker over

his last seven games, six starts one opener.

You know, he had the opener of what

a couple of starts ago, last seven games,

six 47 ERA got shelled against the rays,

got hit around pretty good against Milwaukee, had

an interesting start against Chicago against the white

socks, five and two thirds, two earned runs,

three walks.

It's not a game tomorrow that I'm feeling

super confident about, but hopefully rock and dig

deep and have the best start of his

2026 season.

Look, I'll end on this.

And I've said this already on the show,

but I'll say it again.

One thing I can promise you is we're

going to be here until the bitter end.

And even when the Rangers, if the Rangers,

how about I'll say, if we'll end the

show glass half full, if the Rangers do

get eliminated, we'll still hang out.

We'll still be talking ball.

We'll still be figuring out what things are

going to look like for next year.

Seeing what we can glean from the rest

of the season, who we can feel good

about going into 2027.

So we'll still be here.

Even when that number, that elimination number reaches

zero and they're done.

Hopefully they go on some Epic run for

the ages.

I will cross my fingers for it, but

I can't say I feel super great about

the prospect, but baseball is an awesome game.

It's a crazy game and you never know.
