Rangers Waste 3-1 Lead as Four-Hit Offense Stalls

Hi and welcome to another edition of Right

on Rangers Live coming at you top of

the ninth inning.

Not the game that we wanted to be

watching at this point.

What happened to 3-1 baby?

What happened to Tied for the division lead

once again after the Astros won earlier today?

One swing of the bat and this game

is flipped.

Both teams really for the most part looked

pretty dead offensively for most of the night.

Rangers I know had a little fun there

in the second inning.

Beyond that there's three Rangers that have hits

tonight.

I mean Jacob Latz is going to get

a lot of crap for this one but

the Rangers have three hits tonight man.

I even felt myself not really paying that

close attention to the offense tonight just because

you had the lead and you were up

and it looked like you were going to

hand it off to your reliable arms, Jacob

Latz especially.

Feel like the offense for most of this

game got off pretty much free of charge

but now that the game is what it

is how can you ignore it?

This offense man going three hits in one

of the bigger games of the season if

not the biggest.

I don't know how you don't start with

the offense and the little that they were

able to do.

I think we can nitpick the skip Schumacher

bullpen decisions and we're going to.

Of course we're going to but can we

talk about this offense man?

Again the Rangers tonight have a grand total

of four hits.

Three players have base hits tonight.

Come on man.

Come on.

We at least got to give it a

little bit to the bats.

The bullpen I will definitely go with y

'all on the bullpen.

It's been an issue for the past month

in a month and a half maybe even

two months you could argue but so is

this offense continuing to do this in really

big games.

You just didn't have to leave it up

to the bullpen tonight.

You didn't.

Ben it is it's not hard to pitch.

What are we doing here dude?

Why do why do people tell me when

you criticize the offense why do people bring

up that it's hard to hit as a

as a legitimate excuse.

Dude please stop.

Just stop.

It's hard to hit is the excuse that

we're going with tonight for the for the

offense.

It's not hard to pitch.

What are we doing here?

We got to apply logic evenly across multiple

scenarios here.

I have had so many people trying to

it's hard to hit Austin.

Don't be so critical.

It's really hard to hit a baseball.

Just just listen to how that sounds.

It doesn't sound like any kind of valid

excuse.

This is the major leagues man.

We're giving these guys the it's hard to

hit excuse.

What are we doing?

Like it's hard to pitch.

It's hard to pitch in this league.

It's hard to hit in this league.

It's hard to do everything.

It's the major leagues.

But you know what the offense has a

grand total of four hits tonight.

The bullpen has to do this every night.

Why does the bullpen have to do this

every night?

Because the offense can't blow anybody out.

Let's just piece this together.

We can whine about skip all freaking day.

This offense most nights gives you no margin.

It is rare.

And we are not letting them off the

hook by saying it's hard to hit.

Come on.

She's we have three guys with hits.

We have offers throughout the entire one through

nine.

Yes.

Jacob Latz gave up the home run.

Yes.

Junis and Ahlstrom were not great tonight.

They have to do this every single night.

Junis.

How many times in a row is he

pitched?

This is third night in a row pitching.

And why is he pitching for a third

night in a row?

Because the offense can't create margin.

I'm sorry.

I'm not going all in on the bullpen

and leaving the bats totally untouched.

I'd recommend you do the same.

Otherwise, what are we doing here?

Bottom of the ninth inning.

Can the bats make me eat a little

crow here?

Let's go, Nimmo.

I know he had the big knock last

night.

He's going golden sombrero tonight if he strikes

out here.

Let's go, baby.

Nemo right down the pipe, little hanger from

Whitlock, and he's not able to do anything

with it.

Wasn't expecting it.

We're going to bring you the rest of

this ninth inning, and we are going to

pray for a miracle.

Lord Tubbington, good to see you.

I can't even touch Latz tonight.

He's been so good.

We literally just got done saying yesterday, where

would we be without him?

10 games under 500.

I mean, that might be generous.

I think we might be 10 games under

500 without Jacob Latz Nimmo ground ball.

And that is going to be an unassisted

for so guard Rangers.

One out quick.

Funny how comment from YouTube here.

Funny how the only offensive bat we acquired

at the deadline is rotting in triple a.

And look, Suki, I think you and I

are on the same page.

Logan O'Hoppy is not going to be

a savior here, but the point remains might've

been nice to get a little offensive help

at that deadline.

Now here's a dude right here.

Here's a guy.

I feel like Chris Collinsworth right now.

Here's a guy that really could do something

special.

Wyatt Langford, baby.

Can we get a clutch bomb from Wyatt?

What a moment that would be for the

young kid.

He's been going through it a little bit

this last month, month and a half, man.

Could he turn it all around with one

swing?

He's a one-on-one count right now.

Duck deuce comment from TikTok.

I didn't expect a sweet Boston duck.

The only rebuttal I would give, I would

agree with that comment.

By the way, I don't think I expected

to sweep one of the best teams in

baseball and the red socks are one of

the best teams in baseball.

I mean, top, probably top seven at minimum,

if not better, just off the top of

my head.

I mean, this is one of the better

teams in baseball.

I didn't really expect to sweep them, but

at the same time, what hurts about this

and my rebuttal to, hey, we didn't expect

to sweep them anyways, you had this game.

That's what hurts, is you had this game.

You were winning.

You were winning late.

And so I do think that that solace

to me would have worked better had we

gotten the brakes beat off us tonight.

Wyatt Langford, nice walk, by the way.

We have life, y'all.

We've got life.

Like to see that.

Now, can we get Wyatt Langford in motion?

No excuse not to steal Wyatt Langford right

now.

Gotta just say that before another pitch is

even thrown.

If you don't send Wyatt Langford here, you

are off your freaking rocker and it would

be a worse decision than anything that Skip

has done with the bullpen tonight.

You gotta get Langford to second base here.

Have to.

Burger takes a pitch pretty much down the

pipe, a little slider.

You gotta get him going, man.

You can't.

You cannot let Burger put the ball in

play here.

You gotta get Wyatt Langford to second base.

No.

No.

No.

What are we doing?

That is the worst decision that Skip made

tonight right there.

That is the worst.

Don't give me any of the bullpen crap.

We just saw the worst decision.

And it's happened so many times.

It like felt like it kind of had

changed a little bit and Skip had turned

over a new leap.

Why would you not put Langford in motion

there?

Why are you letting Burger swing away?

It's righty righty.

This isn't lefty masher Burger up to bat.

You've got to give an opportunity there for

Langford to get to second base.

Have to.

Come on, man.

That was brutal.

Again, worse than any bullpen decision is not

getting Wyatt Langford to second base there.

Worse than any other decision.

Burger to me, you go to the bench

there.

Who do we have on the bench available

at this point?

You've got Díaz, Foscue, Freeman, Osuna, Pederson.

And I don't think Joc's available.

Joc would have probably had an AB there

had he been available.

You definitely understand where Joc is at right

now.

It's a no brainer.

If Joc can swing a bat, you could

have 100% seen him there.

Could have played first base easy.

How do you not let Wyatt Langford even

attempt to steal a bag there?

That needs to be the number one question.

Everybody tweet at the Beats right now and

prime the pump, man.

How do you not even attempt to get

Wyatt Langford to second base?

He wasn't trying to steal on pitch two.

He wasn't trying to steal on pitch two

either.

You watch the replay.

He's standing there.

He took the secondary.

He's not even trying to get there on

pitch two.

I'm being dead serious.

Tweet at the Beats right now.

Plant the seed.

Why don't you try and get one of

your fastest runners, one of the fastest runners

in the league?

No hyperbole.

Wyatt Langford is one of the fastest dudes

in baseball.

How are you not getting him at least

an attempt to steal second base?

Bear Sports, you don't have to convince me

on getting Osuna into the game.

If it's me, you are subbing Burger and

you are probably going to go Joc Pederson

if he was healthy.

But Burger has been really on a run

against lefties mainly.

He hasn't hit that well against righties this

year.

I know that the optics on benching Burger

right there are probably not great because the

numbers look so good, but we have to

contextualize.

Burger has been great against lefties.

He has not been that great against righties.

That is true over the last month.

Even as we watch Burger hit home runs

left and right, it's mostly against lefties.

I don't know if he has a homer

against a righty in this last three or

four weeks.

The first mistake is you got to get

Wyatt to second.

I think that the Burger substitution is somewhat

debatable.

If it's me, if Joc's healthy, that's an

easy sub.

Osuna is a tough one because what you

like about Burger is you know Burger can

get you that two-run bomb to win

the game.

I would guess that Skip's reasoning is going

to be he wanted the power.

He wanted the opportunity to win the game

with one swing of the bat there with

Burger.

You still cannot at all have no attempts

Wyatt Langford getting down to second base.

I understand to an extent letting Burger swing

the bat because Burger gives you a much

better chance at a home run than Osuna,

but I don't understand why you would prioritize

the win there.

I know this is going to sound odd,

but hang with me.

Why are you prioritizing a home run swing

there to win the game when you just

need one run to tie?

Let's not overcomplicate this.

The reality of Jake Burger hitting a home

run there, it's not 50-50.

It's probably not 25-75.

We're talking about maybe like a 15%

max chance that Burger goes yard there.

Burger singling and driving home Wyatt Langford from

second base is much more likely than Burger

hitting a walk-off homer against a righty

like Whitlock.

Burger against righties is not Burger against lefties.

The fact that you didn't even put Wyatt

in motion, if you put Wyatt in motion

and you have the rollover, it's very likely

that Wyatt's safe at second and Burger is

out at first nevertheless.

If you get Wyatt in motion there on

that second pitch, he's probably safe.

It would have been a close play, but

I think he might be safe at second

base.

I'd have to go back and look at

the replay.

That to me is worse than any bullpen

decision that was made by skip tonight.

And I know that some of y'all

have already been going in on some of

the bullpen moves.

I'll admit Robby Ahlstrom was a head scratcher

to me.

That was a freaking head scratcher, man.

Why put in Robbie?

I would have gone additional inning with Silseth.

I probably would have been more comfortable with

Trevor Williams coming in there instead of Robbie

Ahlstrom.

And I love Robby Ahlstrom.

I'm happy for him that he's been up

in the major leagues this year and he's

gotten a taste of the show.

But the way that Robbie's been pitching, you're

not trying to get him in this kind

of spot.

The game is not close enough.

It's not.

It's close enough.

It's not even far away enough, excuse me,

a long day at the office.

It's not a big enough margin to bring

Ahlstrom in there.

The walks were ridiculous.

Ka-chow, I'm with you on that YouTube

comment.

The walks are ridiculous.

And that's the point.

And we've talked about this so much.

The one thing that you can't do in

tight games in October is walk, guys.

And that's why we talked about Cody Bradford

being a dude that you could really count

on out in the pen.

I mean, Cody tonight, four and a third.

He pitched so well, didn't he?

Four and a third, one walk.

This is why Cody Bradford out in the

bullpen, I think, would really play.

If the Rangers were a little bit more

healthy, you might have Cody in that kind

of role.

They're not healthy right now, lighter down.

Evo, obviously, still making his way back.

Ahlstrom coming in the ball game was a

definite mystery.

Very much an enigma to me why he's

coming in the game there.

No clue.

Look, all is not lost.

I think we need to say that immediately

here before we go any further with the

breakdowns.

All is not lost.

The Rangers do drop a game to the

Astros.

They effectively now are two games behind Houston.

Yeah, it's only one game, but it's the

tiebreaker, right?

And we've talked about that a number of

times on the show.

You did have the wildcard teams.

A couple of the wildcard teams were off.

You had Cleveland off today, unfortunately gaining a

game, gaining a half game, excuse me, on

Texas.

Toronto, I believe Toronto was off today as

well.

And so you have Toronto and you have

Cleveland gaining a game on Texas in the

wildcard.

And now you welcome the Blue Jays to

town for a three-game set tomorrow.

We're going to preview that at the end

of the show.

All is not lost, but this is a

gut-wrenching L, mainly because you had this

game, not in the bag, but you had

this game firmly in your grasp.

I mean, it's a 3-0 ball game

at one point.

It's a 3-1 ball game.

You had this game.

And I understand that the mentality coming into

the series is, hey, really good team, win

two out of three.

When you have an opportunity like this late

in games to win, you throw that out

the window.

The Rangers should have swept this series.

We can't play Monday morning armchair quarterback here.

Well, you know, we did say just win

two out of three.

It's a little disingenuous to me.

You had a chance to sweep tonight, a

very good chance and you blew it.

And to me, that is the reasoning why

this one hurts a lot more.

It happens.

Games like this happen.

It just really can't happen at this point.

The good news, you still have games left.

It's not much, but you've got nine games

left and a lot can happen in a

nine game stretch.

We win two in a row.

Astros lose two in a row.

Not improbable.

And now we're talking about the Rangers being

on top in the AL West.

Very much a plausible scenario, is it not?

Houston loses a couple.

We win a couple.

And everybody's happy two days later.

Everybody's not happy tonight, though.

A winnable game slips through your hands.

Houston, by the way, play in Atlanta.

So this is a good opportunity.

This is the really pivotal weekend for the

Rangers because Houston is actually playing a good

opponent.

That's not true.

As you go into some of the other

games you look at next week, Houston is

going to be after the Brave series.

Looks like playing.

They play like somebody like the A's or

the Mariners or something like that.

I'll have to look and see.

I'm trying to go through.

They play Seattle.

That's right.

They go to Seattle.

And Seattle's an interesting opponent right now.

I think this weekend, just to keep it

focused here, this weekend is the big weekend.

If you can win two out of three

and the Astros can lose two out of

three to a good Braves team, makes a

big, big impact.

John, oh, by the way, we were going

off on the Langford no steal.

I definitely will, I'm sure, at some point,

get back into it.

But I'm with you, brother.

Comment from Facebook, doesn't Langford have the go

ahead to attempt to steal second on his

own?

I would think yes, but I want to

choose my words carefully.

I just don't know if Wyatt Langford, even

if he does, does he have that confidence?

I don't know.

I don't know where Wyatt Langford's mental is

at right now.

Does Wyatt have the confidence to go ahead

and do that with the game on the

line?

I don't know if he does.

And I don't want to play psychiatrist, psychologist,

whatever.

Psychologist, we're not talking medication quite yet.

Although after tonight, I'm sure some of y

'all, I don't know, I feel the headache

coming on.

There's so many things in this ballgame.

Psychology, man, it's tough to get into when

you're analyzing sports.

I don't know if Wyatt Langford's getting the

green light there and really wanting to use

it.

There are some guys that, yeah, if I'm

on, I'm going.

I think that move probably comes from Skip,

if I had to guess.

I don't think Wyatt's going just own volition

there.

Who knows what they've told him or what

they haven't told him, but I'd be a

little surprised if that's on Wyatt to go

just on his own.

It's just my opinion.

I don't have the insider information there by

any means.

It's just my opinion.

We'll keep, I'm going to do this for

anybody watching on phone just so I don't

get blocked with the comments.

I'm going to put the comments in the

bottom.

What is it for you guys?

Bottom right.

That way you guys can see it.

And I'll just read off the comments here

and there instead of featuring them just so

that way I don't block myself on the

live show.

It's probably going to mess me up for

the videos that I do later.

Anyways, unfortunately we'll figure it out.

Let's see what else we got.

Nikki Lopez ball could have gone either way.

J rock says, yeah, it could have.

It's very possible that, you know, that, that

makes a big difference.

But at the same time, the Rangers to

me just did not have a good enough

game offensively.

You can complain about the bullpen all you

want.

The Rangers did not have a good offensive

game and it's a big reason why they

lost today.

You only score three runs and you only

do so really at the beginning of the

ball game.

It's just a tough pill to swallow.

You scored in the first two innings and

you didn't score again.

This has been an issue for the Rangers

for the past multiple seasons.

And tonight it really did make all the

difference in the game.

Even if you had put up one run

in the last seven innings, you'd have a

tie ball game and they just didn't do

that.

Offense was horrible.

I'm with you on that.

My guy comment from tick tock there.

Offense was terrible.

Absolutely terrible.

This is good.

Now, now all y'all can see each

other's comments.

I know some of you guys are like,

man, I can't see the tick tock or

the Facebook tick tock.

You won't be able to.

I have not figured out a way to

integrate tick tock into all of the other

streaming.

I use a stream yard and they don't,

they just don't have a good setup with

tick tock.

So you guys are always on the phone.

Hopefully one day I can get y'all

to be able to see all the other

comments that are going on.

Yeah.

I wonder what the reasoning is going to

be.

You guys let me know.

I know for a time I was pausing

the show.

I know for a time I was pausing

the show to do the, to at least

listen in to the skip interviews.

And I just found it's more valuable for

me to just keep on going.

And I'll listen to the, to the skip

coach speak later.

You know what I mean?

You don't get that much insightful stuff and

skips post games, a lot of company lines

and gibberish.

I'm just not really, I'm not here for

it.

I mean, look, skip occasionally gives you a

nugget, but if he says anything, I'll definitely

keep my eye on the RSN feed.

But if he says anything insightful, let me

know.

That should be the number one question.

Why aren't, why aren't you trying to get

Wyatt's second base there?

I guarantee that the answer, if, if asked

JN, you might be right.

Comment from tick tock says beat writers won't

ask if they, if they do ask my

guess is he's going to talk about burger

running into one and not, not wanting to

run into an out, but that's kind of

playing scared.

You know, that, that is playing scared.

I don't even want to be passive here.

It's playing scared, man.

It's absolutely playing afraid to not steal Wyatt

Langford.

One of the fastest runners in the game

there.

Yeah, exactly.

Yeah.

You don't, you don't get very much.

You don't get very much from skip.

You really don't comment from YouTube skips, nuggets,

consistent.

I like the fight really tough pitching.

You're not wrong.

You are not wrong.

My friend, let's keep going.

Appreciate all you guys hanging out Rangers.

You're just joining us.

Drop a tough one tonight.

One time they were up three, one Jacob

blacks gives up a three run bomb and

the top of the eighth inning and the

Rangers ultimately lose this game four to three.

Look, Josh Jung was incredible.

He had a couple of hits.

He had one hit tonight at the home

run.

I had a couple of hard hits as

well.

Josh Jung continues to impress me.

I mean, he has been, and I put

out a video on this.

He's been the best pure hitter for Texas

this season.

I think we can give him that title.

Are there other areas of his game that

we've been very real about need improvement?

Absolutely.

But I don't think there's any denying Josh

Jung is your best pure hitter.

And he set the tone early in this

one, Danny Jansen, two hits, my goodness, who

had that on their bingo card DJ with

two of the four hits tonight.

I mean, honestly, that's when you know, it's

bad.

Two of the four hits belong to Danny

Jansen tonight.

Oh gosh.

Yeah.

Comment from tick tock here.

Uh, Jung, not that incredible and stop trying

to make the ran happen.

I'm a little, little negative there, my guy.

I wouldn't say that Josh Jung is, you

know, the best hitter in baseball, but he

is the best hitter on this team.

And Ezequiel Duran has been incredible this year.

I don't know how you can argue.

Otherwise, all the positions that he's played, nobody's

saying that Zeke Duran and Josh Jung are

the best players in the game, but on

this Rangers team, they are absolutely two of

the better players, probably one, two for MVP,

especially if you're talking from an offensive perspective,

keep going.

Uh, Nate, yeah.

You know, Nate makes a good point here

to add to Sugi's comment, YouTube comment here.

At least we won.

The series is another skip nugget.

Yeah.

Oh yeah.

Oh yeah.

You, you don't need, this is a game

though.

What never makes sense to me with skip

is this is a game where it would

really be okay to say exactly what I

just said.

If I, if I do say so myself,

um, seriously though, what would be the harm

in saying, Hey, this one hurts.

We had a winnable game in front of

us.

There's no need to sugarcoat it, dude.

You're up three.

Oh, in the late frames, you're up three,

one in the late frames with your all

-star closer on the mound.

Like it's okay to say, I should've should've

won this one.

Had it.

You don't, you don't need to backtrack to

at least we, at least we took two

out of three.

Come on, come on now.

Comment here from YouTube.

Caden says every time this team gets to

500, they forget how to play baseball.

Yeah.

Then there's that.

Then there's that the 500 curse, man.

It really does feel like a bit of

a curse at this point.

You have Texas just continuing to just waffle

around this record.

The one game below back to 500, one

game above 500 back to 500.

They do it pretty frequently.

They've done it a lot this year.

A lot.

A question from Tik TOK here is Houston

clinching.

No, like I said, there's, there's nine games

left.

It is absolutely going to take a solid

effort from Texas down the stretch.

I said eight and two.

Now you would have to go eight and

one, the rest of the nine games to

make that happen.

That doesn't feel super likely, but it could

happen eight and one over your next nine.

If you wanted to be eight and two

over your last 10 kind of feels like

seven and three might be what you need

to, or excuse me, uh, kind of feels

like, you know, seven and two is probably

what you need to shoot for.

It's just hurts because the game was winnable

tonight, man.

That's all we're saying.

It just hurts.

Let's keep rolling.

Appreciate all the comments tonight.

You know, here's a couple of things just

as I start out and skip, I know

is, is on the podium right now.

Let me know if he says anything insightful.

If you got RSN up on the TV

or laptop, however you watch, look the pitching

plan for the most part until the late

innings worked really well today.

I think we do start there and you

had Alexander opening up clean.

You had Cody Bradford going forward in a

third scoreless, by the way, tonight, if Texas

is blessed to get to October, I love

the role that Cody Bradford was in tonight.

Not like a starting role per se, but

just like a very solid bulk role going

through a lineup.

Maybe a couple of times, max.

I think he faced a few hitters a

second time, but not the entire lineup that

to me is the ideal for Cody Bradford.

You do not want Cody Bradford going through

a third time.

The stuff to me is just not quite

good enough for that.

I like the role that Cody Bradford was

in tonight and he really shined.

He had four in the third scoreless, three

hits, three strikeouts, only one walk.

You're talking about four base runners allowed and

four in a third.

You're going to take that nine times out

of 10, if not 10 out of 10

times.

Cody to me, he is a guy that

the Rangers have spent and invested a lot

of time in.

He's come up through the system.

He's had a couple of years with the

injuries.

It's a great comeback story.

Maybe off season, we can revisit what the

role is, but I think moving forward, keep

him in this bulk role.

That makes the most sense to me.

Keep him in this bulk role.

That would be ideal.

I'll keep checking comments and questions along the

way.

Justin, thanks for all the likes man.

Austin says last time the Rangers were above

500 was 60 and 59 in the series

against the angels on the road where they

lost four straight after.

That's the big worry for me here.

I'm not saying that this is going to

happen, or I think this is going to

happen, but I'll say a worry for me

is you don't want to slide right now.

You don't want to slide and make this

a situation where you drop three in a

row, you drop four in a row.

You just won four in a row.

You lose tonight, great.

You take it on the chin, but don't

make it into a streak.

Don't let it become something that knocks you

out of the season, of the playoffs, of

the playoff race.

I think at this point, that to me

is one of the big things I'm watching

for.

Can we make this a one-off and

not make it a downward spiral like it's

been sometimes?

You've seen Texas get on a really good

run, they lose one game, and maybe it's

a bit of a heartbreaker, and then you

get a three or four game slide.

That is concerning for me.

I'm not saying I'm predicting it's going to

happen, but that's a little bit concerning for

me.

Here we go.

We'll keep rolling.

My wife giving me a hard time here.

You got to be used to these losses

by now.

Yeah, we are.

We're well-seasoned as Rangers fans, trust me.

It can't get much worse than 2011.

I mean, I don't want to bring up

too much more.

It can't get much worse than 2011.

And then we've watched plenty of just straight

up losing seasons.

We're well-seasoned in the loss department as

Rangers fans.

Let's have a little fun with it.

I mean, God bless the 2023 team for

putting us out of our misery, but we

are well-seasoned as Rangers fans when it

comes to heartbreak.

There's no other way around it.

No other way.

Natalie YouTube says, pathetic at bat from Burger

to end the game.

Absolutely inexcusable.

For me, Natalie, I definitely wish that Burger

would have been able to do something different

there.

I mean, you can't completely control what you're

going to do in a moment like that.

Burger did not hit the ball hard.

It was 85 off the bat, got jammed.

Actually, the ball's over the heart of the

plate.

I don't know if he got jammed a

little bit.

I don't know if he just mishit it,

but didn't hit it really all that hard.

And for me, you're swinging at a slider.

It's in the zone, but Burger sliders away,

just not his best friend against righties, especially

in that spot.

I would have loved to have seen Wyatt

Langford steal.

I think that is the bigger mistake is

Wyatt Langford stays planted at first base.

What are we doing?

Get Wyatt's butt to second, man.

It's like, I don't know what's worse when

camp, he didn't steal cam Cawley or when

he didn't steal Wyatt Langford tonight.

I'm not even sure what's worse.

Probably cam Cawley because cam Cawley is literally

one of the top five fastest players in

the game.

I think the cam Cawley one is probably

worse, but Wyatt Langford, he's up there as

well.

One of the fastest guys in baseball.

There's no excuse not to steal Wyatt Langford

and give Burger at least an opportunity to

do something with an RBI.

You never know the Rangers easily could have

changed the dynamic with the pitching burger.

Maybe see some different pitches with Wyatt Langford

at second.

The whole feel of the game can change

when you put pressure on the defense like

that.

Did they, by the way, I think skips

done, right?

Did they ask him at all?

Did anybody ask the question?

Probably no.

And I think you guys would have lit

it up in the comment section.

If that was the case, I'm guessing no.

Unless one of the beats asked it and

it just didn't get on camera.

Cody says YouTube comment here.

Seven pictures in a nine inning game is

laughable.

Well, let's actually go to the pitching breakdown

and let's see where we could have gone

a little bit differently here.

So you have Bradford and you have Alexander

getting you through almost six innings, right?

You had Bradford exiting in the fifth inning

with one out or excuse me in the

sixth inning with one out.

Silseth comes on, allows a hit, but

gets out of it.

For me, one of the mistakes is you

should have let Silseth continue on.

I don't think Silseth has pitched all that

much in the last week.

I think he's thrown twice in the last

week.

You could have let Silseth go another frame.

That to me is what I would have

done instead of going to Ahlstrom.

Jacob Junis, he has pitched a lot over

the last several days.

He pitched, look, on the 16th, just yesterday

he pitched.

I thought actually this was three in a

row for him, but it wasn't.

So he has pitched only a couple of

times as well.

So putting Junis in isn't like a no

-no for me personally.

I know some people were just kind of

pissed off that he wasn't super sharp, but

for me, Junis coming into the game makes

sense.

It's the Ahlstrom move that I don't really

understand.

And then Jordan Montgomery coming in there, he's

not going to come in if Jacob Latz

doesn't give up a three-run bomb.

I'm not in the mindset, I'm not in

the mode that Jacob Junis is the guy

pre-All-Star.

In fact, I've said a couple of different

times, Junis has not really looked the same

since post-All-Star when he came back

from his injury.

To me, he hasn't felt as locked down,

regardless of what the numbers say.

I know that the eye test can be

dangerous, but to me, eye test with Junis

is he doesn't look quite as dominant as

he did to begin the season.

And I mean, that kind of makes sense,

right?

Beginning of the year, the arm is fresh.

End of the year, it definitely looks like

Junis has some miles on the tires right

now.

And I don't mind Junis coming into this

game.

I don't know that you had a lot

of other choices.

The big decision for me, and I'd love

to hear what you guys think about the

moves and what you would have done.

I always love talking through this stuff, especially

after the fact, but if it's me, I'm

going Silseth for another frame.

So Silseth got you out of that sixth

inning.

I'm throwing Silseth back out there for the

seventh inning.

Go get me three more outs.

And then I'm handing it off to Junis

for the eighth inning and then Latz for

the ninth inning.

Junis didn't have it tonight.

Latz had to come in.

It's nice to have that ability.

Latz did not really have a terrible game,

just made one bad pitch.

And that in and of itself does make

sometimes an otherwise pretty good outing look really

bad.

I mean, Jacob Latz again, just you give

up that one big swing and that's all

she wrote.

He made one mistake pitch.

That is how baseball go as the great

Ron Washington would say and probably still does

say that's how baseball go.

You make one bad pitch in an otherwise

pretty clean outing.

And there you are.

Really tough loss tonight.

If you're a Rangers fan, especially with Houston

winning, had Houston lost this one might, I

don't know, maybe it feels worse if Houston

loses.

I'm not really sure.

I think you would still appreciate being even

instead of being one game back, but you

would definitely regret not have been able to

take advantage.

But I think if you're going wide frame

here, you had an opportunity and you blew

it.

You've got nine games left.

It's very possible.

You went to Houston loses too, and you're

in first place that can happen.

I just love when they have the opportunity

though.

I, I love being tied with the Stroh's

because you just have that hope we could

be in first place at the end of

tonight.

That's how I woke up feeling this morning.

Like we could be in first place at

the end of tonight's game.

That was phenomenal.

That hope is not going to be there

necessarily tomorrow, but you have an opportunity to

get back to even with the Astros, which

we all know does mean still a game

back.

But nevertheless, you have a chance Houston playing

a tough Braves team this weekend.

That's good news.

You hope the Braves can lay one on

them for three games straight.

That would sure help out a lot.

That would really help out Rangers.

I think this weekend, I don't know if

I want to say two out of three,

I think two out of three is the

minimum.

I was trying to figure out my mind

on the fly.

Do you have to sweep this series?

Probably not, but you definitely can't lose it.

Definitely can't lose this series.

That would be catastrophic.

Hey, cripple King.

What's good comment from YouTube.

It's just unfortunate.

They put themselves in the position where they

have to be perfect every game.

And this is what we talked about.

I can't really give you a better illustration

for when, at the beginning of the season,

when we're being hard on this team, according

to some Rangers fans, we're being too hard

on the team in April.

You guys might remember my rant that I

went on multiple times in April and May.

April and May games count the same as

games in September.

April and May losses count the same in

the loss column as losses in September.

And now you're looking back at some of

these games that the Rangers really inexplicably lost

like the angel series.

I know that's going to be like the

punching bag the rest of the year.

And rightfully so you got swept by the

angels in May, bro.

I think imagine had you won that series

three out of four, you'd be in first

place right now.

If you would not have gotten swept by

the angels in May, you'd be in first

place or at least tied.

You could do that for a number of

different series this year for Texas.

And all along, this is what we were

saying.

You're going to look back on some of

these games that you punted.

I think about the Rays game in late

July that the Rangers decided to punt as

they were getting ready for the Astros series.

That game would be nice to have right

now, wouldn't it?

There's so many games like that where you

had opportunities early in the year to create

a better margin for yourself later in the

year.

And now you have to do this dance

where you're pretty much going to be needing

perfection in order to make October.

I think the Rangers could still lose a

couple of games and make their way in,

but you don't control your own destiny.

And that is the painful part here.

You don't control it.

You love when you're in a position where,

hey, if I take care of business here,

if we win, we're in.

Right now, you could win the rest of

your games and you might still not get

in.

You got to count on the Astros dropping

them.

It's a tough spot to be in.

Kachow with the comment here.

Look, I was actually going to post this

and then the Latz home run allowed to

happen.

Josh Jung was actually on the MLB front

page right before the Latz home run was

given up.

Josh Jung was on MLB.com front page.

I was shocked.

I took a screenshot.

You never see the Rangers on MLB.com

homepage.

It's always like the Dodgers or the Yankees.

Remember that was our running joke last year.

Who's on MLB.com show.

Hey, Aaron judge, maybe Cody Bellinger or scuba

could be scuba.

It was like one of three guys was

always bound to be on the front page

of MLB.

Josh Jung, right before Jacob Latz gives up

the home run was on MLB.com front

page, baby.

Maybe it's bad luck.

Maybe never let that happen again.

Keep us off the homepage MLB.

We liked it better when we never got

any attention.

Got to laugh sometimes y'all.

This is a frustrating loss.

I know some people don't want to see

any smiles after games like this.

Don't get it twisted like this.

This is gut wrenching.

I was getting ready for the show.

I had to like redo my entire live

stack as you know, to set these up,

I have to type up the descriptions and

the headline.

And I had to like redo everything because

Jacob Latz gives up three run bomb and

the heart just sunk, man.

Felt like the heart went down into the

stomach.

Like seriously, I, it was, it was gut

wrenching the home run.

Just the last possible thing you thought was

going to happen with all-star closer, Jacob

Latz on the mound, one pitch, man, one

bad pitch, a comment here, Matt.

What's good.

Thank you so much for the support.

Appreciate the comment and agree with the comment.

I don't think you have to sweep the

J series.

I do think you have to win it.

And a sweep would clearly be ideal.

If you can go get two out of

three, and then maybe you have Houston lose

two out of three, or you have Houston

get swept.

Oh, that would be heavenly.

That is looking pretty good for you.

If Houston wins all three, you're, you're in

a little bit of trouble.

It is going to be a situation where

you're doing some scoreboard watching.

Look, as we go to the calendar, speaking

of scoreboard watching tomorrow, you're going to have

Houston and Texas basically starting at the same

time.

So they're going to be throughout the game.

You're going to be looking and checking that

score pretty frequently.

I kind of like it, you know, just

like in overtime, like if you're a college

football fan, shoot, even if you're an NFL

fan at this point without they are changing

their overtime rules, right?

You want the other team to go first

so you can see what you need to

do.

It's kind of nice when you have Houston

playing before us, and then you kind of

know one way or the other.

Okay.

We got to win this game.

Okay.

We have to take advantage.

They lost.

It's kind of nice to know, but it

does add to the drama that we're playing

literally at exactly the same time.

A spot problem is we have to win

games coming from TikTok here.

Houston has a tougher opponent.

Yeah, they do have a tougher opponent.

That's for sure.

Oh, Astro spotlight.

What's good, man.

Sorry.

I didn't see this.

Y'all have a good shot on knocking

us out.

We finish off the season against the A's.

A's kill us.

Hey, appreciate you showing up, man.

Seriously.

Let me, I wonder if I can do

this.

Well, there you go.

Let me give a follow.

Respect, man.

Thanks for showing up.

Appreciate the comment.

That's a helpful insight.

Makes me feel slightly better.

The A's for whatever reason give everybody problems.

A's give us problems.

But this weekend, I would say you have

to have have to have a couple of

wins for sure.

If you don't get a couple of wins

this weekend with the Astros play in the

Braves, if it feels fortuitous again, baseball doesn't

always make sense, right?

But it feels fortuitous.

You're playing the J's a team that you've

actually beat the Rangers famously beat the J's

a four game series earlier this year in

Toronto.

That was when Cal Q went out and

just totally shoved.

And the Rangers had that great catch from

Nimmo that sealed one of those games.

I think it was the Saturday game.

You feel like this is the weekend where

you got to gain some ground, but we

know the, the end of the season can

always get crazy.

Astros are going to play the Mariners and

the A's down the stretch.

Rangers do have some lesser opponents.

They play the Mets.

Marcus Semien is coming back to town, by

the way, happy birthday to Marcus.

Look, regardless of how you feel about Semien's

exit, dude's a Rangers legend.

He finished top three in MVP voting in

2023.

A dude went crazy, went beast mode in

game four and game five, Marcus Semien, a

Rangers legend forever.

And my, my humble opinion, I know some

people don't like it when I throw out

the word legend, but anybody on that 2023

team, I'm really not going to hesitate to

put legend in front of their name.

It's the only world series in franchise history.

Anybody on that team legendary, in my opinion,

I'm not going to forget them.

That's for sure.

There'll be a legend in my mind, Marcus

Semien though.

That'll be fun.

I really hope I was going to wait

to do this, but since it naturally came

up, I really hope that the fans give

markets a proper ovation.

I know there was some Corey Seager, Marcus

Semien drama, but I really pray the fans

give him his rightful standing O and like

a big standing ovation, like stand on your

feet for a while.

30 seconds.

It needs to be a really, really good

ovation, man.

No reason why it should just be a

couple of claps and sit down.

I mean, that is a special, special player

to that 2023 team.

If I was there and I would love

to be there in person, I know what

I would be doing, giving the man his

flowers and respect regardless of the exit, huge

part of the Rangers 2023 season.

He sealed game five.

Absolutely.

Where my heart appreciate the comment.

He sealed game five for us.

Who could forget that iconic moment?

And again, in game four, the dude mashed

dude had five RBI in game four.

People forget about game four.

I know it's like, how could you forget?

People forget about game four.

That was the blowout game right before the

series win, right?

The clincher Simi had five RBI in game

four, dude was raking and then went ahead

and sealed the game with that home run.

Dude needs his proper standing.

Oh, come on now.

Come on now.

All right.

We keep rolling.

John says, uh, Astros are missing sale.

Okay.

So that to me is unfortunate for the

Rangers, but nevertheless, the Braves are a solid

team.

I'm not saying the Astros have no shot.

We know this game is wild, but I

feel like this is the weekend to take

advantage.

This is the weekend where you have to

try and gain some ground on Houston.

Then playing the Mariners in the A's down

the stretch.

Yeah.

Those games can get a little bit wonky.

The division games.

Nevertheless, this feels like a good opportunity.

Rangers on the verge be what a quote,

tick tock comment here.

I was having so much fun.

I know some of you guys follow me

on other platforms, tick tock.

I don't do a lot of the posting

that I do.

So by the way, if you're on tick

tock, I'm sure you're on some of the

other social media apps, uh, follow over on

X or I'm on threads.

I'm on Facebook.

I'm on a little bit of everything, honestly,

but I do a lot of other posting.

Like during the game, I do Rangers history

posts, tick tock.

I don't know why I haven't gotten into

it.

I mostly just do my shorts and my

reels on tick tock.

I don't really do a whole lot else,

but, and I do the lives of course,

but I would encourage you follow me on

one of those other things.

There's a lot of good content that I

put out every day, but it was so

much fun making the Semien birthday post that

I had today.

Just relive in some of the Marcus moments.

Uh, I didn't want to go crazy with

the editing, but I tried to do some

of the big moments from the world series

and the play that he made in game

one in little things, man, he had a

beautiful play going to his right across his

body, great throw.

And all those things stacked up to the

game one comeback.

They really did.

I was thinking about that a lot.

That world series game one, I was there

by the way.

I know I've told some of you guys

that, but that's the last Rangers game at

globe life.

I've been to, I like it.

I'm being so serious with you guys.

I know it's dramatic.

I can't bring myself to go back quite

yet because I know nothing is ever going

to top that moment.

I've seen the Rangers on the road since

2023, but I just know, man, nothing is

going to compare to that game one with

a, that was my wife and I were

there.

This is one of the best moments of

my life.

I mean, obviously all the family moments come

first.

I got to say that in case the

wife's watching all the family moments come first

wedding day, birth of my children, all that

good stuff.

Game one is very close behind those.

It is very close behind those.

And I told her, she didn't quite understand.

She doesn't love sports or baseball as much

as I do.

But I said, if they win this game

and go on to win the world series,

this is going to be one of the

best moments of my life.

And I know for some people that just

don't get it.

They're like, dude, really a baseball game is

one of the best moments of your life.

Yes.

Yes.

101,000% it is family baseball.

And of course those of y'all know,

I am a man of faith.

We'll put the man upstairs at the first

top spot family after that baseball.

Oh man, where my heart you would.

That was the same with one of my

best friends, tick-tock comment here.

I went to the only game they lost

in the world series.

That was one of my best friends from

high school after game one, of course, everybody

was going crazy, right?

Oh, they, you know what, what a game

walk off.

I gotta get tickets to game two, the

only game they dropped in the series.

Oh my goodness.

All right.

You gotta be a Rangers Fitz Sarah.

Absolutely.

Tick-tock comment.

You gotta be a Rangers fan to understand

all this.

1000% you do.

Somebody said, somebody asked where I'm from originally.

Those of y'all that don't know a

little bit of my background grew up in

Arlington, went to Arlington high, miss Arlington, miss

some of my friends that I have there

for sure.

Miss Texas, but I live out in Vegas

now been out here for a while, but

grew up going to games at the ballpark,

man.

Some of those late nineties teams were incredible.

Weren't they?

That was like me growing up as a

kid, you know, Juan Gonzalez, Pudge Rodriguez, that

late nineties era, we can never get past

the Yankees.

And then early two thousands watching some of

those young teams, you know, Michael Young, no

pun intended there, you know, Mark to share

a Hank Laylock, some of those dudes I

could go on and on, but yeah, like

I miss miss Arlington, miss Texas, but life

is good out here in Vegas.

And especially now that the A's are making

their home in Vegas, I'm going to get

to watch Rangers baseball in the backyard here.

I am thrilled about that.

Couldn't be happier.

And I keep pumping this up and we're

going to make good on it.

Eventually we are definitely going to have to

do a meetup, get some of you guys

coming out to Vegas.

And we just have a bunch of people

packing that stadium.

I want to set something like that up.

I told, told my wife, I think it

was about a week or two ago, they

were doing an update on the stadium here

in Vegas on the strip.

And just like when it's going to be

done and kind of showing some pictures of

where they're at in the process.

Right.

And I was like, we, we got to

get a big meetup of people out here,

little ride on Rangers meetup, just as many

as we can.

Bunch of y'all make a little trip

out to Vegas.

We have some fun.

I would love to do that.

I hope it can happen one day.

And then of course, eventually I'll make it

to Arlington, make sure all y'all know

about it.

I would love to get a chance to

meet some of y'all who support the

show.

Some of y'all very passionately.

And I just can't thank you enough for

the support.

Look, I know we've kind of gotten off

the rails a little bit, but it feels

appropriate.

We got to sometimes go where the show

is leading us.

This game was a rough one.

It's not one that I want to relive

a ton, but let's summarize.

We know that this game was a winnable

one that slipped through the Rangers fingers.

It slipped through the hands.

And I think the positives tonight, we already

talked about Cody Bradford.

I don't want to at all try and

pretend like these positives make the game and

the result any better.

But I do think that it's appropriate to

talk about who did things well tonight.

And I think we've nitpicked already some of

the things that didn't go so well, but

Cody Bradford, probably a guy that stands out

more than really anybody to me.

Great job taking the ball and giving the

Rangers a prime opportunity to win a game

today.

Josh Jung continues to do his thing.

We've talked about the Jungle Cat.

We discussed some of the arms out in

the bullpen.

You had Tyler Alexander pitching well tonight.

You had Silseth pitching well.

It's unfortunate.

Robbie Ahlstrom just couldn't find it.

And really, after that insane run, remember, Ahlstrom

went on like that 13-game scoreless run

post-All-Star break.

I mean, Robbie Ahlstrom was lights out for

like 13 straight games after the All-Star

break.

Don't think he allowed a run in like

13 appearances.

Dude was on top of the world.

In fact, Robbie Ahlstrom, we're talking about Toronto

coming up next, right?

Robbie Ahlstrom had a pretty big outing in

Toronto in that four-game sweep.

We're at a point where the Rangers really

cannot afford meltdowns like this from certain individuals,

especially with the walks.

By the way, we haven't covered this a

lot on the show.

Did you guys know that Carter Baumler is

rehabbing right now?

Baumler was a guy I hyped up a

ton in spring training.

I did not realize that Carter Baumler is

rehabbing right now.

We haven't seen this guy in forever since

the beginning of the year.

But he's actually had some solid outings.

I looked at the numbers.

I think he gave up a one run

in two innings last night, but he pitched

a couple of scoreless frames before that.

So Baumler, you would think, is maybe going

to be a guy they get back up

to the show, man.

I don't think Robbie Ahlstrom is going to

be hanging out a whole lot longer.

Nothing personal against Robbie.

It feels like you're probably going to see

Carter Baumler come back up.

That would be my inference based on what

he has done so far down in AAA.

Yeah, any call-ups?

I don't think it's going to be like

Walcott.

I do think, like I said, Baumler probably

finds his way back up.

I was going through the pitching in AAA,

so Sporzy is still on the roster.

I know they released him three times, but

Sporzy is on the roster.

Josh Kors, Ranger's legend that he is.

Baumler rehabbing.

You have Gavin Collyer down there.

Luis Curvelo is down there as well.

These are all names that you hopefully recognize

or should recognize.

If not, I understand some of these dudes

have been in the minors most of the

year.

I just don't know with the reemergence of

Robert Garcia how necessary it is to have

Ahlstrom.

Like you have Alexander, you have Garcia, you

have Latz.

Do you really need a fourth lefty?

I mean, for me, I don't think so.

I think you can probably go ahead and

roll it with those three guys.

You've got Montgomery too.

So you have five lefties out in the

bullpen.

Does that sound right to you?

Yeah, Shane, thank you.

I think you beat me to it.

I'm on a little bit of a delay,

I think, but I definitely don't think you

need five lefties.

You don't.

Yeah, Curvelo was a pickup again, Sugi.

We picked him back up.

I mean, we did that with Sporzy.

Sporzy was like down, up, down, up.

We did that with Sporzy.

Feel like Skip, a comment from YouTube here,

feel like Skip called up Osuna just to

quiet us down.

Would have been nice to see Alejandro late

in this game, man.

He's a clutch player.

I will fight people on this.

Some people don't believe me when I say

it.

Alejandro Osuna has a highlight reel of clutch

hits late in ballgames this year.

I definitely am not opposed to what some

of y'all suggested.

Wouldn't have been opposed to seeing Osuna in

the ninth inning.

Not sure what Skip was thinking when maybe

he wanted to use Alejandro.

So I do think today, if I could

just sum up what I saw in that

ninth, Wyatt Langford not stealing is ridiculous.

And I do think that Burger being in

the spot that he was righty, righty, Burger

a little bit too untouchable there.

I don't think you probably see Burger bat

if Joc Pederson is healthy, but I think

Burger should have had a little bit of

a different approach.

You're not the same guy against righties as

you are against lefties.

You're not.

Broadcasters said it themselves, 27-year-old rookie.

Okay.

Carter Baumler season, yep.

Yes, sir.

Think we'll see him back soon.

All right.

Let's land this thing, y'all.

We are almost at about the hour mark.

I know it's getting late in Texas, past

11 o'clock at this point.

Let's finish this thing off.

So Carter Baumler, we discussed rehab progressing through

two innings.

Important next step is multi-inning and back

-to-back availability before activation.

So they're trying to get Carter to go

multiple innings.

They're trying to see if he can hold

up doing multiple back-to-back days in

a row.

Don't know if he ended up pitching tonight.

I'll go to MILB and we'll try and

figure this out.

Walcott went deep again.

Is that what I saw, by the way?

I thought I saw on Twitter that Walcott

went deep.

Let me know if I got that right.

That's a guy that I kind of wish

they would have brought up.

I know a lot of people are really

concerned about what's going to happen next year

with the strike.

Is he going to be able to participate

with the team?

Dude, if he can help you, bring him

up now.

Seriously.

By the way, Express won 9-3.

Cam Cauley was 2-5.

Higgy was 3-5.

Higgy is raking right now.

I'm glad I looked this up.

Kyle Higashioka is raking right now.

Higgy had a home run last night and

Higgy had another home run tonight.

So Kyle Higashioka has now homered in back

-to-back days.

I think Higgy is probably going to be

finding his way back up to the major

leagues.

I think they will probably carry a third

catcher.

I don't think they're getting rid of Díaz.

I don't think Jansen's going anywhere.

I think they're probably going to get Higgy

back up pretty quickly here.

Higgy is raking right now at the AAA

level.

Again, Higgy was 3-5 with 3 RBI.

That was again after what he did last

night, hitting a home run.

Back-to-back days now with a big

fly.

Kyle Higashioka.

Now for the pitching side of things, does

not look like Baumler pitched today.

Josh Spors pitched.

625 ERA for Sporsy, by the way.

Not great.

John King, interesting.

You guys might remember John King.

I did just post about him.

John King just had a birthday.

John King was traded in the Montgomery Stratton

trade to the Cardinals in 2023.

He has made his way back to the

organization.

He was released by Miami, I believe.

The Rangers picked him up about two or

three weeks ago.

This is a lefty that is throwing fairly

well so far for Round Rock.

You look at the game log for John

King, talk about a guy that could maybe

replace Robbie Ahlstrom.

He's pitched in three games, and he has

allowed, looks like, one earned run in five

innings.

Strikeout number is not super high, so that's

a little bit concerning.

He has given up a number of hits,

but ERA is looking pretty good.

There's another guy.

All right, I'm glad we went down on

the farm for a second here.

Then Walcott.

Let's figure out what he did tonight.

We got to always do a Walcott watch.

I feel like it needs to be a

part of the show at this point.

Walcott for Frisco, believe he went deep, but

we'll give you the exact stat line here

in just a second.

Walcott this evening looks like he had a

total of four at bats, did go yard

two for four with a bomb.

Two for four with a homer.

Good stuff.

There we go.

Let's go to tomorrow's game a little bit.

By the way, Rangers are going to open

up a three game set with the Toronto

Blue Jays.

Looks like, oh, I totally forgot Michael Helman

is on rehab assignment too.

Wonder what they're going to do with Helman.

He's been gone forever.

The Rangers have Higgy, they have Helman, they

have Baumler all doing rehab work right now.

You wonder if they're going to bring Helman

back.

Let's look at the bench right now.

I mean, what do you do with that?

I'm looking and I just don't know.

That's going to be a tough decision, what

they do with Helman.

All right, back to the Blue Jays.

So a couple of different things.

First of all, as you look at the

series right now, and you look at some

of the matchups that the Rangers may potentially

face, I think there are some things in

flux, but right now, at least on MLB,

tomorrow's matchup is going to be Cease versus

Rocker.

That's not my most favorite matchup, but the

Rangers did get to Dylan Cease in Toronto

the last time they faced him.

It was a good game against Dylan Cease.

So you hope that matchup can continue, but

I do not trust Kumar Rocker, man.

Do not trust him at all.

Colty from TikTok says, send Robby Ahlstrom to

the shadow realm.

Yeah, I think that Robbie is most likely

going to find himself back in AAA.

Bryce says, why are we having a bullpen

game and the most important game since the

World Series?

Well, I think there's a couple of things

you have to consider.

First of all, not healthy.

You just burned him yesterday.

Second, lighter, not healthy.

You just don't have the depth.

I do agree the optics are not good.

I don't really know what else they could

have done that would have made you feel

a whole lot better.

They tried to do the Bradford in bulk

thing, and it worked out pretty well, honestly.

Where it went off the rails was Robbie

Ahlstrom, and I'm not even blaming Robbie.

Skip putting in Robby Ahlstrom is kind of

where it went off the rails, Bryce.

That's kind of how I see it, at

least.

Now, on Saturday, Quantrill is slated to pitch

against Soriano.

Cal Quantrill dealing with some back stuff, I

believe, but he says he's good to go.

And so we'll see the Rangers' best pitcher

in 2026 throw on Saturday, and on Sunday

is deGrom.

So you're trying to win a big series

with deGrom on the mound.

Then after that, Monday, you get the Mets.

Excuse me, that'll be Tuesday.

So deGrom likely not to pitch against his

former team.

You have deGrom pitching on Sunday.

So unless, and I don't think they're going

to do it, I don't think they're throwing

deGrom on three days rest.

So I don't think deGrom is going to

face his former team, unfortunately.

That's always pure cinema when that happens, but

I don't think it's going to happen with

the way that it's lining up right now.

So tomorrow, Rocker, I don't know if he

has a lot of numbers against Toronto.

It seems to me like he had a

pretty good outing against them the last time.

Let's look this up.

Let's look up the game log real quick

as we bring the show to a close

here.

Rocker against Toronto went six innings of shutout

baseball.

So maybe I'm being too harsh right now.

Rocker, two, let's see, three hits allowed, two

strikeouts, six innings of shutout baseball.

My bad, four hits allowed, five strikeouts, six

innings against Toronto on June 28th.

That was a part of the four-game

sweep.

That's right, Colty.

Thank you for bringing up that angle.

Josh Smith facing his former team.

Wouldn't that just make too much sense that

he goes off in that series?

You don't really want to see it right

now, but it's not going to shock me

at all if Smitty has a good series.

In fact, I'm kind of planning on it.

But Josh Smith coming back to Arlington.

Another guy to give a standing ovation to.

I know Smitty, it's not like he panned

out with the expectations, especially this year.

Josh Smith was supposed to be the everyday

second baseman, man.

Just didn't work out, but he was a

part of things in 2023.

He stepped in a number of times when

guys went down.

He should get a standing O as well

when he gets announced.

Bryce, no, you're good, man.

You are good.

Comment says, sorry for criticizing everything Skip does,

but we have no business being in this

spot.

It does feel like tonight some things, some

decisions got away from Skip, and that might

be putting it nicely.

All right, y'all, we are going to

go ahead and sign off here for the

night.

Not the result that we wanted to talk

about, but the Rangers do lose to the

Red Sox four to three.

Fortunately, they did win the series.

Sadly, they had a chance to sweep it,

and it got away from them.

No time to pout about it.

No time to cry about it.

The Rangers turn around, and they have a

very big series against the Blue Jays this

weekend.

And Josh Smith coming back to town.

You got Rocker on the mound tomorrow.

You've got Cal Q going Saturday to Grom

Sunday.

Definitely got to win this series.

Sweep would be phenomenal, but definitely got to

take two out of three here.

Hope you guys have a great rest of

your Thursday night.

The weekend is almost here.

Hope to see you guys, though, at some

point during the Blue Jays series.

If not tomorrow, Saturday or Sunday, we will

be live as well, eighth or ninth inning.

So please, would love to have you come

follow along.

Thank you, by the way, speaking of follow,

for everyone that followed or subscribed to the

show tonight, this is what we do pretty

much every night, talk Rangers baseball.

We hope to be doing it into October.

I also cover a couple of other sports

as well.

We cover the Cowboys.

We cover the Mavericks.

We cover the Longhorns.

So we stay busy here.

You're going to see different content throughout the

next few months, but it's all good stuff.

Rangers first always, but we do cover a

number of other DFW sports as well.

So come join us.

We'd love to have you more often.

Have a great Thursday night.

And as I always say, tend to every

show.

God bless and go Rangers.
