hitters park in baseball with this offense?

You gotta be kidding me.

I mean, I'm not complaining, don't get me

wrong, but some things just don't make sense.

Some things in this sport just don't make

sense.

Okay, I'm enjoying every second of it.

Give me more tomorrow.

I totally agree with some of the sentiments

that have already been uttered in the comments.

Save some runs for tomorrow, please.

But tonight is one to enjoy for sure.

You've got so many things you could talk

about.

So many angles here.

Cal Quantrill pitching yet another quality start tonight.

Obviously, he gives up the big bomb to

Baby Yordan, but beyond that, seven straight to

end his night.

Seven straight retired.

Pretty impressive.

Cal continues to be a major force for

this Rangers rotation.

And let's be real.

I tweeted this out probably several minutes before

I got on the live, but if you

take the name off the back of the

jerseys, take those names right off.

There's no one that deserves a game one

start.

There's no one that deserves to be the

number one ace of this rotation more than

Cal Quantrill.

Nobody.

DeGrom, Gore, Eovaldi, it's Cal Quantrill.

And that's pretty incredible considering where he started.

I know we say this every time the

man takes the mound, every fifth day, but

it's one of those seasons that you have

to appreciate as often as you possibly can.

And that's what you see me doing.

And I see a lot of Rangers fans

following suit.

I think about weird stuff like this is

going to be something we look back on

several years from now.

Remember that Cal Quantrill season where he was

like one of the best pitchers in baseball

for us just randomly on a $1.25

million contract?

Crazy.

Absolutely crazy.

Cal Quantrill was incredible tonight.

I know he didn't necessarily have his best

game, but six innings, three earned runs, four

strikeouts.

I mean, one bad pitch.

Otherwise he's looking at potentially another shutout frame.

Another one.

That is huge.

Cody Freeman, a nifty little play here.

Did he at least get the out at

third?

That was interesting.

I hope he stepped on the base.

I hope he got the out at third.

It looked for a second just in real

time, like maybe he got rid of the

ball before he actually stepped on the base.

Are they going to review that?

They're going to review this.

It really did look like Cody did not

step on the base.

Looked like he got rid of that ball

a little too quick.

I feel like I jinxed Cody a little

bit.

He was playing a really good third base.

I feel like at this point he has

had a rough week, week and a half

at the hot corner.

Rangers just can't quite get a break down

there.

When Zeke Duran's playing, it's all sunshine and

roses.

That is a weird play from Cody, man.

I think that's a little uncharacteristic, man.

He's not necessarily going to make a million

flashy plays for you, but he's at least

going to do the little things.

He got to step on the bag there

first, man.

That is a brain cramp for sure from

Cody, no doubt.

Biggest part of this game was when the

4-0 lead suddenly became 4-3.

Lazaro Montes, Baby Yordan, as they call him,

hit the three-run homer.

He kind of had an interesting route by

Wyatt Langford to begin that inning, right?

It was just a very odd sequence.

Wyatt was all turned around, and it just

was not meant to be in that frame.

Randy, by the way, is going to drive

in another.

It's going to be 10-5 here.

Well hit, 99 off the bat, but right

at Brandon Nimmo, and the Rangers are now

one out away.

Runners on first and third for the Mariners

Macko trying to bring this one home.

He is definitely having a bit of an

interesting outing.

He's given up four hits.

Does have a couple of strikeouts.

Robert Garcia, we're going to talk about RG

in a second.

RG, first time he's pitched since mid-April.

I think it was April 16th or 17th.

First time he's pitched since mid-April.

Goes one, two, three.

Lefty Heavy, I've always been a champion with

Robert Garcia, man.

Throw him in the mix.

Lefty Heavy, he's going to be all right.

No need to make him this catch-all

guy that can face righties and lefties.

It doesn't matter.

Give Robert Garcia a lefty lane.

I think he's going to be a really

effective pitcher, and not just in mop-up

duty.

I'm not saying he's going to be perfect,

but I think he has a role as

a bit of a lefty specialist for us.

More on that in a little bit.

Wyatt Langford, he hits the two-run homer.

Danny freaking Jansen.

Danny Dingers follows up that three-run shot,

or follows up that two-run homer with

a three-run shot of his own.

He has four RBI tonight, and then you

have Corey Seager, Justin Foscue, bringing this offense

to life.

Offense coming from all over the place.

You get an RBI, and you get an

RBI.

That's where we're at tonight with this Rangers

offense.

It's incredible.

So fun when this team really achieves and

accomplishes the vision that was painted, that was

pictured for us before the season began.

You're going to have Corey Seager bouncing back,

looking like Corey Seager.

You're going to have Brandon Nimmo doing his

thing.

And Brandon Nimmo, I know, is O for

tonight.

Golden sombrero for Nims.

But look, had some definite good ABs in

the mix.

Hit the ball hard a couple of times.

The Rangers take game one in Seattle.

A big win considering some of the results

around the league.

You had Cleveland winning today.

You had Houston winning today.

We talked about this on the pod that

I posted this morning, recorded it last night.

And I said, it's going to be an

interesting situation with the Astros and also with

the Guardians playing the early window.

I mean, they both played at 540 Texas

time, right?

This game didn't start till like 840 Texas

time.

So you automatically knew what you needed to

do today.

A little bit maybe of added pressure on

this game with wins from Houston and wins

from Cleveland.

I don't know what the Blue Jays did

today.

We'll have to scroll through and see what

we got going on with the rest of

the scoreboard.

But you had the pressure already kind of

mounting.

You had the teams ahead of you already

having won baseball games.

Toronto won today too.

Everybody won today.

That really mattered for Texas.

And to me, the win is even more

necessary when that happens, you know, you drop

this game and look, it was four to

three at one point.

You're feeling like, man, are these guys going

to blow it?

Are we about to have an epic meltdown

here?

Are the wheels finally falling off the Cal

Quantrill train?

Sure enough, you go ahead and you have

an offensive barrage.

You have a great offensive outburst and Texas

is able to secure a 10-5 victory

on 11 hits.

10 runs on 11 hits, geez.

That's when you know the ball was leaving

the yard.

That is for sure.

If, look, if Texas is going to get

back into a firm place, a firm footing

in the wild card or in the division,

you're going to have to start stacking some

wins.

You won tonight.

You have a great opportunity to take the

series.

You've got Cody Bradford on the mound tomorrow.

Cody's been a little up and down, especially

against better competition.

We're going to preview that matchup for you

guys a little bit later on in the

show.

But you need to start stacking these wins

and you need to do it on the

road trip.

Doesn't matter that the Rangers haven't been very

good on the road this year.

All you got to do is be good

this week.

I mean, seriously, that's the beauty of this

sport.

You've been terrible on the road this year.

trip when they play away from Globe Life

It's Cal Q by a mile.

DeGrom is going to get a little bit

of preferential treatment because he's DeGrom.

He's got the pedigree.

He's done it in October at a pretty

good level, at a pretty high level.

But if you're just going full meritocracy here,

just merit alone what you've actually done on

the field, it's Cal Quantrill by a country

mile.

Cal Quantrill has dominated this season, and especially

as a starting pitcher, especially in the rotation.

I know he gives up the big bomb

to Baby Yordan tonight, but man, if not

for that one swing, it's pretty much another

shutout for him.

And you could maybe even make the argument

if Wyatt Langford doesn't get put into the

spin cycle out there in left field trying

to track down the fly ball that opened

up that inning where the home run was

hit, you might have gotten out of that

inning totally unscathed.

And look, it would have been a great

catch, but I think that probably is a

catchable baseball for Wyatt.

Again, we're talking about the beginning of the

fourth inning, the leadoff double, where Wyatt took

about two different spins, made up for it

with the home run.

So we're not complaining here.

Made up for it in a big way

with the home run, but Cal Quantrill was

phenomenal tonight.

Omar, what's good?

not bad since he was not closing.

Yo Omar, we were talking about Robert Garcia

a little bit earlier as I opened up

the show and my comment is simple.

When you put Robert Garcia in the right

role, I do think he can be an

effective pitcher.

I know we like to joke about RG

a lot and I know we like to

clown on him a little bit.

He definitely has had his moments of full

-on despair as a Texas Rangers pitcher, but

I think if you put Robert Garcia in

lefty leverage situations, lefty heavy leverage, as I

like to call it, I think he can

be successful in that role.

You look at the numbers last year, Robert

Garcia really was an above average pitcher when

faced against left-handers.

He didn't walk lefties.

He struck out a lot of lefties last

year.

It was when you let him face righties

in bulk that he really got in trouble.

Whenever Robert Garcia would have to face righties

in bulk last year, he would start walking

people.

He would instantly kind of lose command, just

wasn't comfortable against righties.

When you have Robert Garcia in a defined

lefty specialist role, I really think that is

going to be the place where he really

shines.

I don't think you need to relegate RG

to mop-up duty, although this was a

perfect landing spot for him.

Can we all agree on that?

You couldn't have painted a better picture for

how Robert Garcia was going to get his

feet wet again after a five-month, a

nearly five-month layoff.

He hasn't pitched since mid-April, y'all.

You could not have pictured this, you could

not have scripted this any better for Robert

Garcia coming in in a seven-run lead

or six-run lead, whatever it was, getting

a one, two, three inning.

Just huge.

Love it for him.

I'm really trying my best, and I really

do this with as many players as I

can.

I think Chris Martin, and I am a

fan of Chris Martin, just for the record,

but I think Chris was the one guy

you kind of felt like, dude, it's time.

Robert Garcia, just giving you my real take

here, I feel a little hopeful with him.

I'm knocking on wood right now, by the

way.

I'm knocking on wood right now.

I'm going to make sure I say that

very clearly for anyone watching this on the

replay, for anyone watching right now on the

live, man.

It wasn't me.

If anything bad happens from this moment on,

but I'm actually feeling kind of hopeful about

Robert Garcia.

Now, look, if they decide to use him

in stupid situations, I'm not responsible.

That's on Skip Schumaker.

I do think, and Chris Young too, as

we know, they pretty much plan these things

out together in tandem.

But if you can just put him in

lefty leverage, I'm good with it.

I'll live and die with that.

If he proves that he can't get it,

he can't cut it, can't hack it, then

of course you move off of him, and

you start using him in much lower leverage

situations.

But at this point, I would like to

see Robert Garcia continue to do a lot

more of what he did tonight.

That would be phenomenal.

I've championed multiple players getting traded.

I don't think I've been hitting the trade

I've seen a lot more of that from

other people.

But look, y'all check me.

Brian, I don't know how much you've been

hanging out, man.

I don't think I've been talking about trading

Seager every other show.

There's a lot of other guys that I

have been a lot more apt to talk

about trading and potentially moving on from.

I think Corey Seager, it's kind of a

foregone conclusion.

He's going to be with the club, especially

since you didn't trade him at the deadline.

I think now he is pretty much set

as a Texas Ranger for life if he

wants to be.

Now, should Seager have been traded?

That's another conversation.

That's another conversation.

Corey Seager was great tonight, though.

Seager won for four, had the home run

that really set the tone.

I know we're talking about Langford and Jansen

because they hit the big bombs tonight.

But Seags with the leadoff, the right away

home run there in the first inning, it

kind of felt like Game 7 in Houston

to me.

I know maybe I'm being a little bit

hyperbolic, a little bit overdramatic here.

But you remember Game 7 in Houston, ALCS

2023, Seags hits the first inning upper deck

blast.

You have his wife, Maddie, in the replay.

It was a great moment, awesome moment.

And I just kind of felt like it

had that kind of vibes tonight with the

Seager home run.

It was just a tone setter.

Like, instantly having that offense from him going

up 1-0.

You had Cal Q on the mound.

You just, you felt like a lot was

going your way early on.

Yes, the home run made it a little

bit dicey, the home run from Baby Yordan,

but then you got the offense storming back

after that.

That was so awesome watching them pick up

Cal Q like that because so many times

this year, you have had really good pitching

performances get wasted.

I absolutely love that the offense found a

way to pick up Cal Q after that

home run.

It was an immediate response, right?

He gives up the three-run bomb.

The Rangers put up a five spot in

the next half inning.

That was phenomenal.

Loved to see that.

And going back, bringing it full circle to

Corey Seager, man, that Jeter play, man.

I mean, did he, did he get up?

Did he, was he airborne?

I don't know if he was airborne, but

still all in one motion going to your

right.

That is not easy to do.

This guy, I know that we are ready

to move him to DH or first base.

I probably have not been singing that tune

as much as some people.

I definitely have kicked it around here and

there, but there's a lot more people that

have been loud about this than me.

We do remember Corey Seager was a gold

glove finalist last year, right?

Right.

I have reminded people of that multiple times

this year.

Like this guy, he's definitely had a couple

of moments this year where you've kind of

questioned, man, is this guy still at the

range?

Does he still have what it takes to

play shortstop in this league?

He's getting a little older, you know, the,

the wear and tear on the body.

I'm not saying that Corey Seager needs to

play shortstop in perpetuity for the rest of

the contract, but the guy can still play

some shortstop, man.

And I think he showed that very well

tonight with his defensive play.

And he's had a couple of nice defensive

plays that feel like over the last couple

of weeks, it's a beautiful thing to see.

I am happy to have this version of

Corey Seager back.

I'm not saying that, you know, he he's

unlocked 2023 mode.

Jeez.

I hope so, man.

I hope so.

And I said with Wyatt Langford, you can

only hope that this is going to open

up the floodgates for Wyatt.

You're just going to see a barrage of

home runs just like out of nowhere.

He's just going to go nuclear.

I would love to see that from Wyatt.

He is due for it.

The Rangers need it.

If Wyatt Langford catches fire in tandem with

Corey Seager, then you get Josh Jung back.

Look, you want a full on glass half

full mentality.

How about glass totally full mentality?

If you want that tonight, I can bring

it to you, man.

I'm definitely feeling good after a win.

Am I saying we're winning at all?

Am I saying we're going on a deep

playoff run?

No, but I think when you watch the

team play a game like this, it's so

hard not to start getting your hopes up.

I mean, we know better.

We know this team has issues with consistency.

I'm definitely going to tread lightly, but this

is the vision.

This is what CY and what Skip and

what Fenstermaker and what everyone envisioned this

Rangers offense could potentially be.

Did we really anticipate them scoring double digit

runs every night?

No, but we all thought, Hey man, Seager

is going to be better.

Langford's going to keep on doing his thing.

Evan Carter had a couple of base knocks

tonight.

Look at that.

He's almost over the Mendoza line.

Here you go, buddy.

Let's go.

And then Nicky Lopez, Nicky freaking knocks man.

Three for three RBI.

Good for him.

I mean, he was fading into the sunset

and look, he might still be a DFA

guy.

Nicky Lopez, his days may be numbered.

I really don't know what they are going

to do with Nicky.

Not sure what they are going to ultimately

fall on when Josh Jung comes back.

And that probably is going to be this

weekend.

Maybe I would imagine they want to get

JJ back in uniform for the diamondback series.

I haven't heard anything otherwise, but I would

imagine if all goes well, Josh is going

to be in uniform Friday night.

I mean, I don't know if they have

time, if they really want to stretch the

rehab assignment much longer than Thursday.

I saw on X, he had a good

AB, but he struck out and that was

kind of the extent of it.

So let's see if we can figure something

But man, it would be surprising to me

if you don't get Josh back for the

Arizona series.

And I'm glad that he is down in

AAA continuing to play well.

We talk about all the time, just the

mettle that guy has, the character.

And I think that Alejandro is going to

have his moment at some point, but man,

good to see Josh Jung two for five

tonight.

Haven't they got him in in some, like,

remember he scored on that Foscue double the

other day.

I think they've gotten him in in some

really small situations, but I don't know if

he's gotten a start yet.

So I do think, you know, you might

have a point there.

I think he is totally just going to

be bench guy.

I don't know that he's going to get

in the mix a lot.

And look, the AA or the AAA season

is almost over.

There's not a lot left in that.

So I think it's actually okay that he's

up with the big league club.

He's, he spent a lot of time in

the minors this year.

He's gotten plenty of minor league ABs.

I always will go back to the Bruce

Bochy quote.

I know that there's a lot of people,

and I don't even know where this comes

from.

And Sugi, by the way, you got to

know this isn't locked in on you, my

guy, you know, better than that.

But there's a lot of people that I

know have this idea that you're not getting

better.

If you're not down in AAA, if you're

a prospect, you're not getting better.

If you're not getting consistent playing time.

And I always will go back to the

goat Bruce Bochy and what he said, which

is you definitely have an opportunity to develop

down at AAA by playing a lot, but

you also really have an opportunity to develop

by being around major league talent, by being

around some of the best in the business.

And they get opportunities by the way to

face live hitting.

Like think about all the guys that are

doing like SIM games right now.

Evo, I believe is doing some live BP

and SIM games.

So like Cam Cauley, I'm sure is hitting

off Nathan of Aldi.

I'm sure he's hitting off of some of

these guys that are doing the SIM games

in between.

So I feel like it's okay.

The usage of cam right now, they need

to use him as late game defensive replacement.

You know, let's say you got Foscue at

second base, late in the ball game, protecting

a one run lead to run lead.

I'd rather have Cam Cauley.

I think Foscue is a little bit of

a defensive liability watching him right now do

the lasso, but at the plate, exact opposite

man.

Foscue continues to just come through in the

clutch, had a nice little two RBI single

98 miles an hour up the middle.

Justin's on another level right now against lefties.

I mean, he obviously has been watching a

lot of right on Rangers this year, getting

really pissed off, channeling that energy into positive

results on the field.

Whatever I have to do, man.

Now, seriously, Justin clearly has worked his butt

off and you got to give him all

the credit in the world for what he's

been able to accomplish this season.

I posted a couple hours ago when Justin

got the hit immediately after he got the

hit.

It's really wild, really hard to believe that

this is the same guy that went 0

for 44.

Can you believe that Justin Foscue went 0

for 44?

It is just blowing my mind that this

is the same player that went through that

bad of a stretch and now look at

him.

And obviously it's a cautionary tale, like don't

give up on players.

I mean, look, sometimes the writing's on the

wall.

I don't, I don't think that you need

to apply what's happened with Foscue to every

single prospect, man.

Sometimes they don't have it.

They just don't have it.

So look, it's not going to happen with

every prospect.

You give them more runway, you give them

a little more, you give them even more.

And then they finally pop.

This isn't going to happen with everybody.

And it hasn't happened with everybody, but appreciate

that it did happen with Foscue.

They were patient with him.

They gave him a runway.

And now look where he's at.

He's found his role.

He's found his niche.

And that is phenomenal for him and phenomenal

for the Rangers.

They're winning some games, thanks to Justin Foscue.

And you got to give him props.

He has figured out how to help this

ball club win games.

And that's all you could ask for.

Would love to see him become more of

an everyday player.

I've talked through, you know, he definitely can

really be useful, even more useful if he

can figure out a way to hit righties

just as well.

You don't want to mess with a good

thing.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

So by no means, am I saying start

hitting him against righties?

No, please don't, don't screw up what he's

got going right now.

Do not mess with it, please.

But in the off season, let's get him

in the lab.

Let's try and get him to everyday player

status.

That's what all these guys should be doing.

Like if you're a righty and take righty

BP until the cows come home, man.

If you're Evan Carter, take lefty BP, hire

you a guy with a rubber arm that

can just throw you BP incessantly in the

off season.

Lefty, lefty all the time.

That's what Evan Carter needs to be doing.

Like these, these guys got to get in

the lab.

I would love to not just have these

players that, you know, the Rangers drafted very

high in the early 2020s, right?

Evan Carter, Justin Foscue, be these one trick

ponies.

Definitely something to address in the off season.

Don't, don't you dare mess with it right

now.

Rick, what's good, man?

I don't know if you're still hanging out.

Appreciate your patience, brother.

I agree with you on the lineup, by

the way.

So lineup today, Pederson, Seager, Duran.

Like that one through three a lot.

When JJ comes back though, Rick, I do

think it's going to put, you know, an

interesting little caveat in all this, you know,

where do you hit Jung?

Do you, you know, do you put him

at the five hole?

I think I mentioned that a little bit,

probably a couple of shows ago.

You know, do you move JJ back up

into that two three hole Duran to me?

It's definitely a guy that can be useful

from multiple places.

I do really like Duran against lefties in

the leadoff spot.

I think that is a great place for

him against righties.

I think you can deal with moving Duran

down a little bit.

I think Duran could hit sixth and you're

okay there.

I mean, look, Pederson, Seager, Jung, Nimmo, Langford.

That sounds pretty good to me.

I would probably roll with something like that.

We'll see what they decide to do.

Josh Jung coming back is definitely going to

put an interesting wrinkle in this lineup.

Now, I think there's a few different big

takeaways for me in this game and I'll

just roll through them and I'll continue to

check comments as we go.

I react to everything that goes on in

Just love seeing the team pick up Cal

You put up a five spot right after

he gives up the three run bomb.

That's the response that this team has far

too often failed to produce.

I mean, how many games have we seen

the pitcher have a bit of a down

inning, whoever it is deGrom Evo Gore

Rocker Leiter Cal Q and immediately afterwards the

offense comes up and goes one two three.

Tonight I love that they batted around immediately

after Cal Q gives up the home run.

They sent everybody to the plate in that

next frame, put up five runs, really put

the game out of reach.

That was beautiful.

Danny Jansen, let's talk through DJ, a guy

that I've been hard on, a guy that

a lot of Rangers fans have been hard

on and honestly a guy that I think

people should still continue to be hard on.

This guy has been for a while now

really having a difficult time up at the

dish.

The Rangers signed him to be a guy

that could give you some pop from the

catcher position.

I mean, look, Danny Jansen, big night tonight,

still hitting a buck 78 after a big

night tonight with a six 17 OPS man.

Like not great, but I'd imagine we'll see

him in the lineup tomorrow.

Give Elias Díaz a little three day

breather, right?

Monday, Tuesday, and then Wednesday have some fresh

legs maybe for the diamondback series.

That'll be good.

But I think Danny owes us this at

this point.

I know he's been hurt.

He hasn't been good at the plate.

It's about time he started doing this.

I know I had a few people I

posted when Danny struck out with the bases

loaded.

I'm like Elias Díaz would never, would

never.

And of course Elias Díaz hit the

grand slam several games ago, right?

With the bases loaded.

I look at Lee SDS has not been

automatic as a hitter.

I don't think anybody needs to go there,

but he's been way better than Danny Jansen.

And I already had a couple of people,

uh, man, that, that aged.

Well, my dude, Danny Jansen's got to do

this about 10 more times for a bad

take on Danny Jansen to be a thing.

I, I'm being dead serious, so serious with

you guys.

And I felt very similar about Joc when

he was in, in his dark days.

And I mean, right now he kind of

is in some dark days for being honest.

He's in a pretty bad stretch, but Danny

Jansen's got to do this about double digit

more times for me to be anywhere close

to having a bad take with a criticism

of Danny Jansen.

He has got to do this a lot

more consistently at this point.

Danny has definitely been a disappointment, but he

was great tonight.

Celebrate the performance tonight.

And let's be hopeful that it is the

start of something really, really good for DJ.

The Rangers would be a much better team

if they could get a consistent pop from

the bottom of the lineup, from the catcher

position, like they got tonight from Danny Jansen.

It's all fun of being a football fan,

That's the beautiful thing.

If you, if you like DFW sports is

a good place to be.

I don't cover the stars.

I like hockey, but I'm a casual hockey

fan.

I've gotten into it a lot more over

the last couple of decades.

Growing up as a kid, I was pretty

much all baseball, football, basketball, really in the

later years, I started getting into hockey a

little bit more.

Uh, and I love the sport now, but

I just, I don't know enough about the

game.

Never played it.

I don't have enough know-how when it

comes to hockey.

I mean, look, I've got a little bit,

don't get me wrong, but not, not enough

to do it at the level that I

do it for right on Rangers lives for

Rangers games and for some of the football

games as well.

So that's the one sport Johnny was good.

Uh, we were actually just talking about this

comment from Johnny on Tik TOK.

Let's go Rangers.

I don't know why, but my hopes get

up every win.

We were just talking about that.

My guy, like this is the vision that

the team scoring runs, having great pitching.

I mean, this is what we all hope

for.

And this team just does this to you

every time.

Don't they, they, they reel you back in

after a disappointing stretch, you know, you lost

a couple in a row against the rays

and they reel you back in on Sunday.

They reel you back in on Tuesday tonight.

And they got you believing again, even though

they didn't gain any ground tonight, any significant

ground, they just got you believing again.

Don't they this Rangers team.

They've got to figure out a way to

get some consistent wins here over the last

17 games.

Uh, I'm not sure if they can do

it.

Uh, I'm not holding my breath.

I'm going to say that I'm not holding

my breath, but nights like tonight, give you

hope.

No doubt that this team can figure it

out and make some noise at minimum, make

some noise in this stretch run to October.

So we talked about Danny Jansen.

We talked about Wyatt Langford getting going, man.

And if he gets going, this offense, it

just has a different feel.

It just does.

That Langford Homer was huge.

If they can get this September production from

him, the league needs to be put on

notice.

And that huge swing was exactly what the

game demanded.

It was exactly what the game needed.

The Rangers teetering on the edge there, four

to three, Seattle getting some momentum at home

in the pink house of horrors.

And then you have Wyatt going deep, pretty

gargantuan bomb, not quite Baby Yordan level, but

Wyatt got all of that one.

It was a beautiful thing to see.

Let's keep rolling.

Now, the Rangers, we talked about coming into

this 31 and 41 on the road, 10

games under 500.

They improved now to 32 and 41, just

nine games back, 10 runs in Seattle on

one night.

Don't magically erase five months of pain on

the road.

But the assignment is do it for one

week, please outrun the road record.

The road was for one freaking week.

And if they can do that, if they

can give you four out of six, they

can win three more games on this road

trip.

I know that's not an easy task, but

if they can just find a way to

win three more games on this road trip,

they will be in such a better position.

Three and three feels like survival four and

two feels like the standard five and one

or six and oh, I don't even want

to get greedy thinking about six and oh,

that would be over the moon.

Amazing.

I'm not counting on it, but man, I

would love to see the Rangers go on

a crazy run here when you least expect

it.

A lot of us have been waiting for

this.

We have, we'll see what they can do

tomorrow.

the angels would be having us play night

with a couple of day games, a couple

of earlier starts here on Wednesday and Thursday.

So that's good news.

Uh, this weekend in Arizona, I think we

got some night games mixed in with some

day games, but, uh, it's all good.

I'm kind of glad like I don't mind

doing these late night pods, but I would

much rather do a day show, uh, and,

and then be able to relax and enjoy

the rest of the night.

Uh, if I'm just being totally selfish, I'll

do whatever you know, I'm pretty flexible, but

I'm glad that Seattle's given us a couple

of spots in the daytime instead of making

us do three night games like we did

in Anaheim.

What was it a month or so ago?

Look, uh, let's talk Nathan Eovaldi,

Eovaldi threw 30 pitches over two

innings of live BP in Seattle today, Skip

Schumaker said it went really well.

And Eovaldi came out feeling good.

This is big news.

And by the way, if you missed it,

the announcement from Evo himself, and I don't

know how official it's been with the club,

but I do feel like the direction is

pretty solidly Eovaldi's going to be

pitching out of the bullpen.

Don't think he has the endurance man.

It's one of those things.

If you played the game, you know, there

comes a point in the season where you

are limping, whatever ailment you've got home to

the finish line, you have your threshold, you

know, how many pitches about you can throw

before something starts bugging you.

And I think that's kind of where Evo

is at.

I think he has that threshold.

Maybe it's 60 pitches.

Maybe it's, it's 50 pitches.

Maybe it's 40 pitches.

I know he threw 30 today.

Clearly they figured out across a certain level

of pitch count.

He's just not able to feel great.

And I think they're doing the best they

can.

They're getting a little creative here.

If we're being honest Eovaldi definitely

would be welcomed out in the pen.

I think it does make you feel a

little uneasy about the starting rotation because now

you're rolling with the Grom and Cal Q

as your one, two punch.

And you're probably counting on MacKenzie Gore to

pull his head out of his butt for

a consistent run in October.

And look, I'm cheering for McKenzie.

I know that that's a little harsh, but

Gore has just not been consistent, not at

the level that you need him to be

for what you paid for him.

And so I'm cheering for Gore.

I would love to see him.

And I've said this so many times, y

'all, those of you that listen to the

show most nights or most mornings, if you're

watching on the replay or listening on the

pod, you know, this, like I've said so

many times over the last month, if Gore

could just give you a month and a

half of solid baseball, nobody will care about

what happened March through July.

Nobody will all just be like, remember that

MacKenzie Gore heater for the last month of

the season and into October.

Yeah, that was amazing.

Nobody's going to care what he did or

how he soiled the bed in May.

If he is dominating in September and October,

he has such a great opportunity here.

You could really do the, the men in

black flash, man, the neuralyzer, nobody would remember

how much he struggled in some of the

early months of the season.

If he just came out and dominated.

And that's what I want to see from

him.

That is what I would love to see

out of MacKenzie Gore, but it looks like

that is what you're rolling with.

Cody Bradford may be in the running for

that game three spot depends on how he

pitches down the stretch, right?

Kumar rocker, man.

I don't even know what they're going to

do with Kumar.

I, I do not think they want Kumar

Kumar on a mound in October based on

how he's been throwing.

And I just do not think they want

to go there.

Maybe they will, but that would not be

my first choice.

I think it is DeGrom it's Cal Q

and then it's either Cody Bradford or McKenzie

Gore for your games one through four starters.

That's what I'm doing.

That's how I'm rolling.

All right, more Josh Jung.

We talked about JJ today, two for five

in Round Rock.

That's a good sign.

He began that assignment today.

And I do think he's going to be

back this weekend.

I'm just totally making a guess there.

I don't have any inside sources, but this

is getting to dire levels.

The Rangers need Josh Jung back in the

lineup.

They really can't afford to slow play this

unless they win the next two.

And you know, you've got Houston losing two

in a row.

You've the guardians and the blue Jays dropping

two in a row.

Maybe if you got some fortuitous outcomes from

other teams ahead of you, you would think

twice about bringing Josh Jung back a little

early.

But if you're in a spot where you

need an injection, you need a shot in

the arm.

I don't know if you can afford to

give JJ this entire week down in round

rock.

I think you've got to bring him back

up for the diamond back series.

The diamond backs are going to be a

tough opponent.

I'm more worried about the D backs than

I am the Mariners.

I'm not saying I'm overlooking this series.

I'm not saying the Mariners can't win the

next two games they can, but I'm just

telling you at the onset of this week,

I was a lot more worried about the

diamond back series than this series.

And so for me, I think you bring

back Josh on Friday night in Arizona at

worst, you bring him back on Saturday and

you allow him to help your team win

a series down in Arizona, where you won

the ultimate, where you won the world series

just a few years ago, big text, what's

good comment from tick tock from big text.

What did Josh do two for five with

a double in an RBI?

So he was good.

He was good today.

Good to see him come back right away,

clicking because you know, sometimes the rust is

real with these guys.

You know, Josh hasn't played since late July.

He clearly he's been doing baseball stuff.

And if I had to guess, he's probably

been doing a lot of cage work.

I know that the calf obviously can be

a really fickle thing.

My understanding is he's been doing cage work

and he's been swinging the bat a lot,

just hasn't been doing a lot of running.

And so I think he probably stayed fairly

sharp.

You can't replicate game situations perfectly, but I'd

imagine that, that he has definitely stayed sharp

with the bat.

And now it's just a question of what

can, what can he give you in the

field?

What can he give you on around the

base pass is probably not going to be

super ideal, but you'll take the bat being

back in the lineup.

And Hey, Josh, just so you know, man,

if you hit the ball over the fence,

you don't got to do a lot of

hard running.

I'm just throwing that out there.

My guy, I would love to see a

little JJ power search here.

We really haven't gotten it this year.

He's been a singles and doubles hitter for

the most part.

He'd love for Josh to unlock some of

that 2023 pop.

And then let's talk Jack Leiter, Leiter still

isn't throwing.

He had a bicep soreness that kind of

interrupted his rehab work coming back from the

ankle procedure.

And he's heading to Arizona to continue progressing.

So really not sure if the Rangers are

even going to get Leiter back before the

regular season is over.

I feel like the news that he's still

not even tossing the baseball kind of makes

any immediate September contribution feel a lot less

certain.

And I've been honest with you guys.

I don't feel like Leiter is going to

be a huge help out in the bullpen.

I know a lot of people really feel

like Leiter rocker heading out.

There is going to be some blessing silver

lining thing.

I just don't know if either guy is

really built for success in the pen.

Doesn't mean they can't do it, but they're

both not extremely accurate, at least not accurate

enough to be in those kinds of really

pressure full situations where the margin of error

is near zero.

You walk a guy in October in a

one inning outing, that can be game over.

I just don't know if rocker and Leiter

are really ready for that.

And so we'll see how the team would

even think about employing them.

If it's me, I'm using them in bulk.

Maybe we're behind two or three runs and

you got to go to them.

You got to eat up some innings and

go to them.

Maybe we're ahead four or five runs.

Hey, let's see if we can get a

couple innings out of lights.

We'll see if we can get a couple

innings out of rocker.

We built up a little bit of a

lead.

I don't know what ranger land, what rangers

nation is envisioning, but I am not envisioning

them being in some one run lead to

run lead, come in and get a hold

and pass it off to Jacob Latz.

I just don't think that's going to be

the best situation for them.

And, and by the way, just for the

record, a big text comment is Leiter's a

starter rocker who knows what he is.

I would agree wholeheartedly.

I do think in an, in an ideal

world, Leiter is, is not going out to

the pen at all.

I mean, he is a guy you want

to be the ace of the future.

You don't want to mess with his development,

but I made the point a couple of

nights ago when you don't go out and

really fortify the relief pitching depth in the

off season or at the trade deadline.

I know they got Silseth, Silseth

to me kind of a meh, whatever move

it he's been fine.

He hasn't been dominant, but he, he hasn't

been bad per se.

I just don't think so.

Seth was enough.

And I think because of the lack of

depth, that's why you're seeing the team get

creative with Eovaldi.

I think Evo is definitely health related as

well, but I think that's why you're seeing

the team kick around or a leaf role

for Leiter.

They just don't have enough depth.

And that is roster construction.

I do think you got to throw that

one back on.

CY a little bit in an ideal

world, you don't let Leiter touch the bullpen,

man, keep him in his development as a

starting pitcher.

That's what I would like to see.

All right.

On deck.

We got Cody Bradford on the mound in

Seattle.

And this is going to be, by the

way, a three 10 Texas time start.

So you're going to have to hustle home

after work for this one, Seattle's team page

and looks like mlb.com.

Now Cody Bradford versus Kade Anderson, Kade Anderson,

of course, uh, the highly touted prospect that

the Mariners called up, uh, didn't he go,

what, what did he go in the draft?

Was he number one, very high draft pick

by the Mariners.

Uh, and so this is going to be,

uh, the, the really, I think, interesting matchup.

You've got Bradford in his last start four

innings, seven hits, five earned runs, three homers

allowed against the A's big thing tomorrow.

Gotta have better control.

Cody did not have his command in his

last start and he paid for it.

And you got to keep the baseball in

the yard should be easy.

Knock on wood should be easy to do

in the worst hitter park in baseball.

And this is not my opinion.

This is stack cast proven worst hitter park

in baseball is T-Mobile on the other

side.

Kade Anderson, only three major league starts so

far.

Again, this is the Mariners phenom, their top

prospect, at least from the pitching side of

things.

Uh, he is Owen one with a five

40 ERA over 15 innings with 11 strikeouts,

seven walks and a 1.47 whip.

So he's been allowing quite a few base

runners in his first four major league starts.

Uh, and by the way, Kade Anderson lefty.

So you're going to see the left-handed

starter lineup.

So you'll see Joc Pederson out of the

lineup, Duran most likely leading off.

You know, you're going to see Evan Carter

out of the lineup Zeke probably playing center

field as well.

Who knows how this one's going to go?

Maybe, you know, that the Rangers can make

the rookie work a little bit, uh, clearly

with all the base traffic.

I do think that is the name of

the game.

Make him throw strikes, make him work.

Don't give him easy innings.

Don't let them off the hook.

He's clearly been struggling a little bit to

throw consistent baseballs in the zone.

He has been giving up a lot of

traffic.

Use that to your advantage.

Wednesday, obviously is a chance tomorrow's a chance

to win the series immediately begin the road

trip two and Oh, and then have a

chance for a series sweep on Thursday.

That would be pretty incredible.

That would be a dream scenario for Texas.

And you would absolutely love to see it.

All right, before we land this thing, let's

check out some comments here.

Sugi says, uh, from YouTube, send rocker straight

into the sun, a little harsh Sugi.

I mean, look, I can't say I'm feeling

great about Kumar rocker right now either, but

look, the reality is he has not been

a consistent, reliable arm for Texas this year.

I don't know how some Rangers fans continue

to walk away with a positive feeling about

rock.

I think right now you gotta be feeling

some disappointment.

A lot of people like to point to

man, it's his first full season in the

big leagues.

Come on.

Like, yeah, but dudes also like in his

late twenties, like he's, he's not like some

19, 20 year old, like at some point

you've got to hold this guy to a

standard of like being a competent, consistent starting

pitcher who can cover first base routinely and

can throw strikes and not have meltdown innings.

And you just haven't seen that out of

Kumar.

That to me is something that I'm concerned

about heading into the off season.

They've got to figure out a way to

unlock this guy's next level.

It's been a tough thing for the Rangers

to do with their starting pitchers.

Look, Robert Garcia, he does.

Hey, he needs to get lessons from Robert

Garcia.

Kumar rocker does in the PFE department.

Sugi, I 100% agree.

Dude has got to go to the Robert

Garcia school of hustling to first base, please.

NFL starts tomorrow.

Yeah, that's right.

That's why they have the game a little

bit earlier.

We'll have our eye on that, but we

don't pause much unless it's Cowboys.

And even then I usually double up and

I do a Cowboy show, do a Ranger

show unless they're playing at the same time,

man, then it's just, it's a little too

hard for me, but we'll see what I

decide to do this year.

I always try and progress a little bit

each season last year, I would do some

combined shows, but I know not everybody that's

a Rangers fan is a Cowboys fan.

Not everybody that's a Cowboys fan is a

Rangers fan.

So maybe I'll try and separate them a

little bit when I can, but you'll definitely

be seeing the football content for me.

It'll be a lot of baseball content to

the bitter end.

Baseball is always first tier right on Rangers,

but football is a very, very close second.

So you'll see some longhorn stuff, especially with

the big game coming up this weekend against

Ohio state in Austin.

And then with the NFL starting up, I

mean, you're going to see the Cowboys content

start rolling in too.

So a lot of different content coming your

way.

I'm really excited about it.

not Texas can stack nights like this.

real honest take here.

I'm still a little nervous.

Can this team stack games like this?

This is a great offensive explosion.

You know, it doesn't necessarily make all the

road problems disappear.

We know we got to celebrate nights like

tonight.

We don't take them for granted because tomorrow's

game could be quite different.

But man, we are hoping as diehards, we

are hoping this team figures out a way

to do this night after night, or at

least a majority of nights.

And then the next thing I am watching

for, you know, let's win a series tomorrow.

Cody Bradford, you got rocked in your game

against the A's last time.

What a great opportunity for him to get

right, to come back strong, help your team

win a road series.

And that way you don't put yourself in

a position where you need the Arizona series

to rescue the road trip.

Imagine you're going into Arizona with a sweep,

with a three and O record, takes the

pressure off a little bit.

Not that you want to let your foot

off the gas.

You want to go into Arizona and take

that momentum from winning the series, hopefully in

Seattle.

But if you lose a couple of games

now, then you're really counting on that Arizona

series being the savior.

And I don't want to be in that

position at all, at all.

I think that Texas needs to take care

of business.

Don't mess around in this next game.

I think I said it last night or

a couple of nights ago, win the games

that are in front of you.

It's really hard to keep on playing the

planning for tomorrow game.

You've got to win the games that are

in front of you when you've an opportunity

to win them.

We shall be live probably right after the

game tomorrow game.

If I'm guessing we'll be over around like

545, six o'clock Texas time.

That's probably when we'll go live.

I may be able to make it for

like the ninth inning possibly, but count on

me doing my live within maybe 10 to

15 minutes at worst within 20 minutes of

the game being over.

But you might see me pop on.

It just kind of depends on my work

schedule and when I can get away, but

we will be going live tomorrow.

We will be live on Thursday as well

after the game.

And so different start times because of NFL

back to back days, but it's going to

be great.

And then we will head into the weekend

series with Arizona.

It's a great week of baseball y'all.

And it was great to talk about a

Rangers win with you tonight.

Rangers, once again, win this game by a

score of 10 to five Cal Quantrill gets

the win.

You have Wyatt Langford.

You have Danny Jansen.

You have Corey Seager.

You have a number of different guys going

deep tonight and producing bullpen does a good

enough job.

Macko got roughed up a little bit.

Robert Garcia did well.

You had definitely an opportunity to rest some

of your big high octane arms, some of

your high leverage guys, which was great.

You can go into Tuesday, excuse me, go

into Wednesday, Thursday with some rested leverage arms

out there.

That's a great place to be a great

spot to be.

And so hope you guys have a great

rest of your Tuesday night.

What little is left of it.

over hump day to get to the weekend.
