Nimmo, Duran Rally Rangers Into Tie for AL West Lead
Hi and welcome to another edition of Right
on Rangers Live coming at you after a
victory by Texas down to nothing at one
point the Rangers come all the way back
and get a win just final Nathan Eovaldi
finishing off the final innings came in gave
the Rangers a lot of bulk tonight and
Texas huge game to gain on Houston if
the score stands with Kansas City you've got
a great opportunity here to tie the Astros
for the division lead in the West what
a game didn't know how this one was
gonna go I did tweet out then I
guess it was totally right on prophetic you
know Gore starts off the game giving up
the two run bomb I said he very
well might get a quality start out of
this very well might figure out a way
to still have a solid outing and look
he didn't have I would say a great
outing but he didn't totally melt down and
he gave the Rangers a great opportunity to
win and that's all you can ask for
and MacKenzie Gore look still I would say
not a guy that you have a ton
of trust in right now but he is
finding ways to at least keep the Rangers
in a ball game he did that tonight
I definitely feel you you gotta give some
credit in that regard but the offense I
think is the focus the offense was incredible
especially in the late innings tacking on something
that the Rangers have not been extremely great
at doing over the course of 152 ball
games you haven't seen Texas do this routinely
in fact the last several games you've had
a lot of score in one inning and
the other eight innings have a bunch of
zeros back to 500 cue the I like
Texas music hello win column 76 and 76
let's go the Astros we will be watching
five to two right now in the bottom
of the ninth should the score hold as
is the two teams in Texas would be
tied for the AL West lead Astros obviously
hold the tiebreaker after tonight each team you've
got 10 games left and you've got a
prime opportunity to take control of the AL
West tomorrow with an Astros loss you love
the position that the Rangers are in you
don't completely control your destiny obviously but at
this point just keep winning ball games and
the rest will take care of itself you
want another series you're definitely in a good
spot in that regard you have an opportunity
to go for the sweep tomorrow we'll see
what skip decides to go with in terms
of pitching I know that that was a
little bit uh up in the air depending
on how everything played out tonight you had
Nathan Eovaldi being thrown out there as a
potential starter I think that is going to
get shelved I would imagine that skip is
going to put out a starting rotation a
starting pitcher and a bullpen management in place
that'll follow that will 100 be setting us
up to get another win I think that
at this point that's what you have to
do this is playoff time put the best
out there and I think tonight you saw
that in action it's refreshing because I do
feel like there's been a lot of moments
there's been a lot of games even over
the last month where we've kind of said
to ourselves we do realize that there's like
one month in the season left right we
do get that there's not much time remaining
in this season felt like the rangers were
still kind of in march mode at different
times this summer late in the summer tonight
really did feel like a playoff game and
I think that is the appropriate attitude at
this point I am very encouraged by what
I'm seeing right now you have really no
excuse I mean look you could win 10
in a row the astros could win 10
in a row if you do that though
you're making the wild card it's going to
work out one way or another if the
rangers keep winning ball games I do think
the biggest thing for me as I was
watching this whole thing play out tonight it's
going to be really hard for the rangers
to win 10 out of 10 they are
100 capable it's possible it could happen it
hasn't happened all season it could happen but
I'm not counting on winning 10 out of
10 down the stretch here be amazing but
my point is I think that it is
likely they will lose a game over the
next 10 and you know what it's definitely
not going to need to be a meltdown
moment I think that you've got a very
limited margin for error but it is going
to be hard to win 10 ball games
in a row you wish that they could
have done this a little bit sooner mbj
I do agree with you on this comment
says this is how they should have been
playing all season and I do agree would
have been nice to get this not the
last week and a half here big win
very very big win and it was huge
that you did not have to use Latz
today comment from youtube here that was big
evo going the rest of the way was
incredible for your chances the rest of the
week using Latz in game one on tuesday
with six games total this week five games
to go you definitely were hopeful that he
wouldn't have to go back to back nights
and sure enough huge you never know what
can happen you just get into the dance
we've been saying this just get into the
big dance and hey sky's the limit you
got just as good of a shot as
anybody else and most of the time we
know this it's not really about who has
the best record it's who gets hot it's
what happened in 2023 could happen again in
2026 I think that this team if they
can catch fire at the right time who
knows I love what I'm seeing and I
think tonight we focus on the good stuff
there's some things we can absolutely nitpick and
I'm sure we probably will at some point
but I'll say this it is good to
be watching winning baseball and let me add
in a word consistent winning baseball all right
let's roll so if you're just joining us
Rangers win by a score of seven to
three Texas spent most of this game getting
runners on without getting any separation that Brandon
Nimmo doubled home the go-ahead run and
Ezequiel Duran followed with a two-run single
all in the seventh inning and pushed the
score to six to three the Rangers added
another in the eighth inning to make it
seven to three and we're able to close
this one out thanks to a beautiful relief
appearance from Nathan Eovaldi MacKenzie Gore only gave
Texas four innings but Jacob Junis Nathan Eovaldi
stabilized the game I know Junis had the
mishap with the balk happy birthday to Jacob
Junis by the way if you didn't catch
that on the broadcast I posted about it
a little bit earlier today as well but
happy birthday to Jacob definitely not I guess
the best thing you want happening on your
birthday the drop the ball balk but you
know what he ends up getting it done
that is all you could ask for look
you go to his line Jacob Junis tonight
he didn't allow a run beyond that balk
I know that that technically gets charged to
Gore but you take that out of it
pretty clean frame for him two strikeouts Eovaldi
goes four innings one hit are you kidding
me Evo I mean nearly four perfect innings
from Nathan Eovaldi four innings one hit no
walks and he didn't have a lot of
swing and miss tonight which is fine didn't
have a ton of swing and miss but
you didn't need it you just got some
soft contact and you found other ways to
get hitters out it's a beautiful thing Texas
has some doors open tomorrow thanks to Nathan
Eovaldi really saving the bullpen tonight look we're
going to talk about Gore in just a
little bit just to give a little bit
of an update here KC winning five to
two Houston down to their final out in
the bottom of the ninth inning we are
going to bring you that game I'm going
to actually put that game up and watch
it give you the live updates as we
go along so we will keep you posted
on the final of the Houston game as
it comes to us it's loading up right
now looks like one and two count and
so perhaps we will be able to celebrate
an Astros loss here on the live together
MacKenzie Gore let's talk a little bit about
Gore I think that what you saw tonight
if you're just going to go glass half
full you saw a guy that got rattled
early but found a way to keep his
team in the ball game I've said very
consistently I do not trust Gore in October
and I continue to feel that way I
do not think MacKenzie Gore is a guy
that you want to have anywhere near a
game three start nowhere near I think you
would much rather have Eovaldi Cal Q and
DeGrom and then maybe Cody Bradford or some
kind of bullpen game by the way Royals
finished the job against Houston the Rangers are
tied for the American League West division lead
Bobby Witt and company do us a solid they
beat the Astros in Houston have a chance
to win the series tomorrow and we sure
would love that thank you Kansas City thank
you good stuff very very good stuff look
MacKenzie Gore dealing with some spasms I mean
can I just say this and just just
be real with y'all how I feel
I know maybe this is you know not
not the most sensitive comment that I could
ever make but it just bothers me that
every time something goes wrong with one of
our pitchers or one of our players it's
always an injury I mean it never fails
and I understand I'm not saying MacKenzie Gore's
out there faking it I really am not
so I just don't want anybody to get
this twisted but I will say it does
get old it gets frustrating every time somebody
doesn't play well every time somebody has to
leave a game early it's always an injury
man always it just doesn't fail and so
MacKenzie Gore dealing with some back spasms tonight
and I don't think that there's any question
that he probably was I'm definitely not going
there I'm just not I know some people
online you know question the heart and all
that I can't do that man that that
just takes the show to a place I
don't want it to go but I'll just
say this I get frustrated with the amount
of injuries on the team I don't know
how much you can actually really control that
some of it is just dumb stupid luck
I'm sure some of it is a lack
of this that and the other but it
just gets old man I'm just so tired
of hearing about an injury every dang game
it is what it is Cody Bradford gonna
start tomorrow by the way just in case
you were wondering Skip Schumaker just announcing Cody
Bradford on the mound for Texas to sweep
the Red Sox in Arlington let's go man
let's go JN comment from TikTok Evo has
to slide back into the rotation right I
mean I do think that by playoff time
if the Rangers are blessed to make it
and they're in a good spot to do
so gotta win some games down the stretch
of course but they're in a good place
I think that would be the goal I
don't think that you really want to go
into October without Nathan Eovaldi as one of
your top three even if you could only
have Evo go five innings I think you'd
much rather do that you don't want Eovaldi
in a role where he is you know
in a chase situation meaning I think that
you could maybe toy around with using Evo
in a middle relief or in a bulk
role and have an opener or two but
then if you go down early because Tyler
Alexander or somebody gives up a couple early
runs in you know the the opener role
then Evo becomes less valuable naturally I just
think you want Evo with the with the
lead or you want Evo with a tie
ball game that's at least what I would
want you don't want to throw Evo out
there with a two or three run deficit
you want him to be in a leverage
role where you are going to be either
winning a ball game you're trying to win
a ball game score is tied I think
that the goal should be get Evo back
to at least going five innings I think
it would be unwise to go into the
playoffs with him as a middle reliever I
just feel like he's one of the more
valuable pitchers on the team even though he
has had an up and down season he's
still Nathan Eovaldi he has the playoff experience
I don't think that you want to ride
with a whole lot of other arms either
in this rotation or in this bullpen then
you want to with Nathan Eovaldi I would
100 percent try and be building him back
up as a starter what do you think
about it tonight they kind of did that
right they kind of did that tonight you're
seeing Evo go four innings I'm sure they're
gonna give him three or four days at
this point and you know maybe you can
throw him out there again at the end
of the weekend you know you're playing Toronto
maybe you throw Evo out there on Saturday
or Sunday see if he can go four
or five for you that would be outstanding
I just don't know if you want to
waste Eovaldi out in the pen and I
know the argument and I put it out
there tonight too he does fill a hole
we don't have a great bridge to Latz
to Junis in the eighth and the ninth
inning it is true we don't have a
great bridge but then again we don't have
great starters that you feel very confident in
especially going into a playoff environment like DeGrom
yeah you feel like DeGrom is going to
be just fine in a playoff environment I
feel even pretty solid about Cal Q I
think Cal has that much confidence in his
stuff right now I don't feel at all
worried about Cal Q going into a playoff
environment I feel worried about just about everybody
else I don't feel great about Cody Bradford
you know trying to go three times around
a lineup in fact I have said many
times with Cody Bradford I think he's really
effective one time through I think he starts
getting into trouble once he goes that second
that third time through the lineup he's a
soft throwing lefty yes I know and understand
that he's got a lead extension it still
doesn't make him throw very very fast that
makes the fastball maybe like 92 93 it's
not like it makes it 100 miles an
hour I do think Cody is a good
change of pace guy to have out in
the pen a guy that could maybe give
you two innings maybe two and a half
but I just think with Cody it gets
dangerous once you start going through a second
time a third time through the order I
don't feel great about anyone beyond DeGrom or
Cal Q right now in terms of starting
pitching I don't think the Rangers have any
other choice if they do make it to
October they've got to have a baldy back
in a starting role you're not going to
roll out Gore Rocker Bradford Leiter I don't
think is going to be an option at
all I know Leiter definitely is a guy
that Rangers talked about throwing out in the
pen I don't think he's going to be
back as a starter this year for sure
but I haven't heard anything on Leiter last
I heard is he still wasn't throwing because
of the biceps issue I think he went
down to Arizona I think he's rehabbing down
there I don't know if he's really even
doing a lot of throwing right now Wesley
says tiktok comment here Evo starting in five
days book it I think the team really
doesn't have a great choice here now depending
on the results I think it could influence
it a lot if you have a three
game cushion let's just say you know you
you rail off uh you reel off four
more wins in a row you know you
do a little eight game winning streak and
you're three games up in the division which
we know is really two because if you
tie Astros get the tiebreaker I do think
there might be some wiggle room with Eovaldi
where you take it a little bit slower
with him but if you're in a spot
where you need to win I don't know
if the Rangers have a lot of choice
they cannot throw out some of these other
dudes that are really a flip of the
coin at this point let's be honest Mackenzie
Gore and what you get from Gore on
a given night is a freaking coin flip
what you get from Kumar Rocker on a
given night it is a roll at the
craps table man you have no clue what
that dice is gonna do you have no
clue what Rocker is gonna do out there
for me there's there's no option none you
got to get Eovaldi back into a starting
role even if it's only five innings even
if it's only five frames you have to
get him back in a starting role Jerry
what's good where's Jordan Montgomery at rightfully not
in the starting rotation I don't think you
want Montgomery touching a starting role either I
think that's a lot of sentiment that's a
lot of history but I don't know if
it's a lot of here and now if
we're just being honest I don't think Montgomery
has really made you feel great this year
he's sitting at an ERA over five I
mean really you'd be betting on just he
can flip a switch and suddenly look like
the guy from 2023 that's really not based
in enough fact and logic for me I
do know some Rangers fans feel that way
but Jordan Montgomery in eight games has a
529 ERA to me I'm probably not letting
it ride on Jordan Montgomery either I'm not
let's see Darnell what's good Darnell you know
we're gonna enjoy the win we've already talked
about a bunch of good stuff that happened
tonight we will continue to do so but
really this conversation I mean if we're just
being real this whole conversation about Eovaldi it
stems from hope it stems from positive vibes
like the fact that we're talking about the
playoff rotation right now tells you all you
need to know it tells you everything that
you need to understand about tonight the Rangers
are giving people hope again and I can
only hope that they buck the trend that
they have seen play out all year long
that we've seen play out all year long
which is you know you have this good
solid stretch and then you follow it up
with something stinky I'm not putting it lightly
putting it nicely you just have to see
the Rangers see this through to the finish
line play this way the last 10 games
you might lose a game here or there
I think if you're looking at how things
shake with the series and you have one
more game tomorrow clearly with the Red Sox
you've got three games coming up with the
Jays I think the Rangers if they can
find a way to get to 84 wins
I think that would be huge I mean
at this point you could win the next
eight you go eight and two and you
get to 84 that would make me feel
pretty comfortable I feel like seven and three
is really making it close six and four
I don't see getting it done I feel
like you really have to go eight and
two to make this comfortable I think that
anything less than that you are hoping and
praying seven and three might might not even
be enough I could see the Astros going
seven and three I think eight and two
is is the goal you can drop a
couple of games over this next 10 you
drop more than a couple you're getting dangerous
and not in a good way that to
me is the goal here though let's win
eight of the next 10 I know that
that sounds like maybe ridiculous like Rangers don't
win eight of 10 very often and I'm
not sure they've done it a lot this
season I'd be curious but I do think
winning eight of 10 is probably what you're
gonna need to feel cozy seven and three
could possibly get it done six and four
I don't see it unless the Astros just
take a massive dump which would be awesome
but I'm not counting on it I'm really
not counting on the Strohs as I look
at their schedule we we looked at schedules
I think a week ago Astros do not
have some gauntlet to finish out the year
and they play a couple of good teams
no doubt but they've got some teams that
they should be able to here we go
we keep rolling socks keep losing yeah to
be honest don't you kind of want the
you want the the socks to be in
the first place roll don't you I mean
for me the Guardians you've got the tiebreaker
over them you don't have the tiebreaker over
the socks that's kind of a tough one
I mean I guess you can just go
one direction like if they totally tank that's
fine but if the socks start hanging around
that just eliminates the wild card if you
have a tiebreaker at least with the Guardians
if you tie the Guardians you're in over
them Cleveland schedule I forget we we looked
at all this man and I just forget
it's hard to keep four different teams schedule
straight I mean I'll try but we'll look
up some of that as we go what
we took away here's the that I remember
I didn't feel like any team ahead of
us really had like some gauntlet stretch every
team ahead of us the Guardians the Astros
you know even the Blue Jays you know
if you want to count them throw them
in the mix the White Sox all them
had like a couple of good teams a
couple of bad teams the Rangers we said
actually had the best stretch because of the
home games the Rangers have seven more home
games in a row no other team in
that playoff race has as many home games
as the Rangers do the Rangers have the
most home games left of any of those
teams and so the Rangers have the best
advantage here you're in a prime position to
really take control of a playoff spot with
seven games left on this homestand there's really
not a lot of excuses for not getting
the job done and at least making it
to October you've got seven more games at
home in a row and then you go
to Minnesota which is not an opponent you
want to overlook but the Rangers should be
able to go to Minnesota and win a
couple of games again I don't think you've
got to win 10 out of 10 this
was again game you know game 152 I
don't think you have to go 10 for
10 here you just have to find a
way to go seven and three at worst
eight and two preferable six and four you're
you're saying some prayers that other teams are
losing five and five you are up all
night by the bedside saying those prayers you
gotta go eight and two to feel comfortable
seven and three I think is the bare
minimum to make the playoffs we're gonna have
to see what the other teams do around
us but that should be the Rangers goal
we should be able to beat Minnesota Bizzle
says that's what scares me yeah that's how
the Rangers have performed this year you you
go up against some tough teams like the
Red Sox and the Rangers actually play pretty
well and then you go play a team
that's mid or you play a team that's
a losing team and you suddenly look like
you can't hit the broad side of a
barn like you definitely have seen the Rangers
not make very much sense at times when
it comes to teams like Minnesota and I'm
not trying to throw any shade at the
twins I think they've got some great young
players but the twins as you look at
them currently assembled Rangers should be able to
take two out of three from the twins
Rangers should have an opportunity to win three
out of three the twins right now are
not in a great spot 71 and 81
they're not going to make the playoffs they
don't have a lot to play for that
can be dangerous but the Rangers should take
care of business there look the twins knocked
off the Yankees today five to four an
extra innings 13 inning game twins beat the
Yankees so look the twins aren't rolling over
twins are still winning games we do not
have the tiebreaker against the White Sox Darnell
and that is why I said I don't
know that we want the White Sox dropping
into the wild card unless the White Sox
are going to massively soil the bed and
just lose like seven in a row you
you don't want to be chasing the White
Sox because you don't have the tiebreaker I
was hoping the Guardians were going to stay
in that top wild card spot because at
least the Rangers have the season tiebreaker over
them we are officially tied with Houston right
now for the AL West lead for first
place Houston if the season ended today would
advance to the playoffs because they do hold
the tiebreaker over Texas Rangers effectively have to
advance one more game ahead to have that
sole first place position over the division rival
man just a great night to be a
Rangers fan you got Texas winning a ball
game you got the I like Texas music
blaring and you got Houston losing minutes later
I love that minutes later the Astros dropped
their game against Kansas City just perfect perfect
uh yes Carson Instagram comment here Carson I
am saying that we have a chance I
know a couple y'all commented that dumb
and classic movie baby you so you're saying
there's a chance you're telling me there's a
chance I love it man absolutely love it
I've been saying it the last three nights
and I know I'm getting sappy I know
I'm getting a little sentimental and you know
what I'm just going to keep on saying
it it's so great to be playing meaningful
games this late in the season after watching
what we watched the last two years like
I had some people pushing back on me
this is what I mean when I say
I can never make anyone happy I had
some people pushing back on me dude this
team should be in first like come on
bro like you know this team should easily
be five games up if they if they
would just be playing better like you know
you're never gonna make everybody happy but in
24 we were done by the time September
hit August we were done in 24 that's
how bad it was in 24 in 25
we were still in it until about five
days ago a year ago like I feel
like the the second week of September we
had that series against the Astros where they
pretty much knocked us out cold you're over
the halfway mark in September now and you're
still playing meaningful games that is awesome and
I am thankful for that it was definitely
not I would say excruciating to have to
cover the team the last two years in
their final games I'm always going to enjoy
watching baseball and I miss it like nothing
else when it's not around when it's gone
even though I love football I'm mad I
miss baseball when it's not on and so
to be able to cover the team with
a chance to still make it to October
this late in the year love it it's
not over yet Rangers still have some things
they need to take care of but you
like the position they're in right now 500
tied with the Astros playing great team baseball
the pitching was good tonight you had also
the hitting clicking you had some hit parades
you had guys feeding off of each other
it was awesome and as someone said earlier
in the show man it would have been
nice to see this earlier in the year
better late than never better late than never
man let's keep rolling uh Texas tonight we
were just talking about it finally cash traffic
one of my tweets before I got on
the live was it's so nice to have
this team actually clutch up with runners on
base how many games have we watched this
year they load them up runners on first
and third runners on second and third and
then you have two strikeouts in a row
inning over tonight you had Texas cashing traffic
they were piling up base runners early on
didn't get a lot of separation the seventh
inning finally changed that with Brandon Nimmo Ezekiel
Duran delivering consecutive damage that this team honestly
has just so badly lacked at times this
year one guy gets a hit then the
next guy comes up and twists the knife
a little bit harder a little bit further
and I miss that so much and I
know you guys have too it was great
to see that one two punch from Nimmo
and Duran saw some fans online getting on
Brandon Nimmo and I got to admit Nims
has definitely not been awesome down the home
stretch here but he was good tonight and
you know what if I can get two
more good weeks of Brandon Nimmo in a
good postseason as well I really don't care
how bad he was at times in the
month of August and September then that's how
it is with a lot of these guys
like I will forgive a lot if you
just get hot for a few weeks man
all is forgotten nobody's even gonna remember just
gonna remember how you were clutch when it
really mattered that's the opportunity that's in front
of players like Gore for example you're just
like Mackenzie dude come on like everybody if
MacKenzie Gore would have gone out and thrown
seven shutout innings tonight and one of the
biggest starts of the season for him how
easy would it be to start overlooking some
of the other games then he comes out
the next start and he shoves once more
it's gonna start to be really easy to
forget about some of the struggles that he
had earlier on in the year and it's
the same way with some of these hitters
look at Wyatt Langford Wyatt just you know
massively struggling right now up at the plate
all dude's got to do is get hot
for the last 10 games and for a
couple series for a few series in October
no big deal dude he was one for
three I know I think he got on
with the walk as well good to see
him on base a couple of times but
nevertheless Wyatt not in a great stretch right
now you'd love to see some of these
guys forget what's happened through 152 games especially
the ones that are on the struggle bus
and just unlock something brand new and everybody
has that opportunity let's see who takes advantage
of it let's see who decides to turn
the page and make the most of these
last few weeks of baseball that we have
remaining let's keep rolling I'll continue to check
comments and take questions I obviously can go
on for days I've got several more points
to make tonight before all is said and
done but we're doing well 35 minutes into
the show appreciate all you guys hanging out
the Rangers win seven to three over Boston
they win the series against the Red Sox
they are now 76 and 76 playing 500
baseball yeah I can only hope they keep
climbing let's go Darnell says gotta give skip
a shout out he was pushing the right
buttons tonight no disagreements for me was pushing
the right buttons tonight I loved how he
brought in the defensive replacements late Carter came
in the game you took Josh Jung out
of the game you had Ezequiel Duran go
to second base or play third base excuse
me you had Nicky Lopez come into the
game and play some second look I love
what Skip did managing the game today you
have Evo you have the feel of let
it ride with the ace for the last
four frames good for Skip please more of
this more of this managing like with with
urgency is the best way that I can
put it Skip managed with some urgency tonight
and I think a lot of us have
just felt like that's been lacking I know
the pushback is going to be dude it's
162 game season he can't do that every
night well yeah but I think he probably
could have started doing it a little sooner
than September 16th and obviously I'm exaggerating here
but for real you have seen at times
this coaching staff in front office manage and
operate like there's games to spare you've got
10 games left it's about time we started
managing with some urgency it is about dang
time man you have got a very limited
amount of frames left to make an impact
on the 2026 season you've got 90 innings
left to play that's gonna go like that
it was great to see Skip managing the
game tonight like a playoff environment like a
playoff atmosphere did Evo get a save tonight
no he got the win Eovaldi got the
win tonight question from YouTube there he is
now 11 and 9 on the year it's
about time there you go good for Evo
getting a dub and his four inning outing
Skip finally realized we do not have a
game 163 anymore look Darnell the only pushback
on Skip is he did forget how many
challenges that we had that was kind of
a funny moment in the game you need
a little comedic relief sometimes Rangers forgot we
already used our challenge on the hit by
pitch right on Contreras did it hit the
knob or did it you know did it
nick the side of his hand and then
Ezequiel Duran safe on a stolen base was
called out no clue how he was called
out the ump was literally looking right at
it stupid call but I digress the Rangers
won a game but look beyond the forgetting
how many challenges we have left Skip had
a really good game tonight at this point
we're just giving Skip hard time let's keep
rolling appreciate you guys so tonight a few
other performances really worth talking about Josh Jung
we have continued to talk about the jungle
cat nearly every show since he's been back
and the immediate impact that he has had
in this lineup with the bat three hits
tonight he had a run scored he has
been a reclamation when it comes to the
offense it's amazing after last year and some
of the things that he went through getting
demoted in I think it was early July
spending a week or two down in Round
Rock and it was a little tumultuous like
Jung, you, you could tell did not love
that he was demoted there appeared to be
some struggles with how to fix his swing
and get him right and it did not
have a really instant impact like I think
Jung came up and maybe had a nice
little series or like maybe even a nice
week but then it kind of tailed off
but something unlocked this offseason with Josh and
I just think we have to continue to
sing his praises with the stick he has
been a very very elite hitter this year
not just for Texas but league wide this
guy is hitting at this point 298 with
an 806 OPS no he's not hitting the
ball out of the ballpark a ton and
with his speed he's gonna get some doubles
but he's not gonna be able to leg
out a lot beyond singles and maybe a
no doubter in the gap double but Josh
continues to come through clutch making pitchers work
keeping the line moving for the Rangers offense
it is a beautiful thing to see had
some had some really good defensive plays tonight
had the one that was yeah right well
we'll not spend too much time on that
but he did have a great double play
you know dive into his left then you
had the Red Sox runner far off the
base easy unassisted double play for the jungle
cat you know didn't have his best moment
not chasing after a ball that bounced off
his glove fortunately it didn't come back to
hurt the Rangers they were able to get
out of that inning and of course win
a ball game but I think Josh tonight
you err on the side of positivity no
doubt he's he's the best hitter on the
team I don't think that there's really any
denying that I still say Ezequiel Duran MVP
just everything that he's able to do he's
your MVP in 2026 Rangers MVP that is
but Josh Jung is the best hitter on
this team it's not Corey Seager it's not
Jake Burger regardless of the RBI total Josh
Young is the best pure hitter on this
team right now and having him back has
been huge I'm glad that they listen to
right on Rangers somebody from the organization must
be tuning in and they didn't decide to
play out his rehab assignment all last week
they got him back and look the Rangers
I don't even want to say this out
loud I don't I don't know if you
can guess what I'm going to say next
but I don't even want to say this
out loud because I don't want to jinx
it all I want you to do I'm
not going to say it out loud but
I want you to try and connect the
dots here think about when they called up
Josh Jung think about the results that have
happened since Josh Jung was called up do
I do I need to make it any
more clear the Rangers are in a much
better place with Josh Jung in the lineup
much better place and I don't think you
can argue with the results that have happened
on the field since he returned on Saturday
I'm not Philip I didn't say it I
led the I led all the horses to
water but I did not say it Philip
didn't say it nobody's saying it he is
an incredible ball player up at the plate
right now it's it's really unbelievable when you
think about his struggles in 2025 and also
even in 2024 after he came back from
the injury it was a struggle for Josh
298 806 it's beautiful you don't see those
numbers very much anymore you don't see guys
sniffing 300 a whole lot in this day
and age it's nice to see we keep
rolling are they really going to let Joc
play through a fracture maybe I mean look
I told you guys in the most non
-disrespectful way possible I don't see Joc Pederson
in the same boat as I see Josh
Young like Josh Jung to me was you
got to get this guy back Joc Pederson
to me I don't think that you are
chomping at the bit man this is going
to fall apart if we don't have Joc
think about the exercise I was taking you
through with JJ now do the same thing
with Joc think about when Joc left the
lineup think about what's happened since Joc has
left the lineup you know I just don't
want to be disrespectful because I think the
player has had a really good season Joc
has produced this year very much unlike last
year but let's be honest about the impact
that his absence has really had I'm not
going to spell it out just like I'm
not going to spell out the JJ perspective
but I think the rangers are going to
be okay without Joc Pederson I don't think
that they are really going to be rushing
that one if Joc is really good to
go and there's not a major issue with
his ability to swing the bat without a
lot of pain I think they'll give it
a shot I'm not saying keep Joc out
of the lineup but I'm saying definitely don't
force it there there's not a lot of
urgency to me in that situation versus Josh
Young Josh Jung the guy puts the ball
in play and hits the ball all over
the yard again yeah he's not hitting homers
but Josh Jung is igniting your offense Joc
definitely is good for a big swing here
and there and it's not like all Joc
does is it homers he'll slap the ball
the other way he'll give you a hard
single a hard ground ball in between first
and second but I just don't see Joc
peterson needing to be rushed back in the
way that I saw Josh Jung needing to
have some urgency in his return again just
just look at the results if you are
a little bit skeptical about my point right
now just look at the results that have
happened over you know the last four games
and I think that's really all you need
to know Joc if he comes back I
think it'll be great I hope that Joc
can continue to do some damage activate Joctober
and let's all go home happy but I
don't think any rangers fans should be overly
concerned or worried man we we gotta get
this guy back I think Joc is a
nice player to have when he's going well
but I think you're seeing that the rangers
are able to make it work without and
I want to repeat once again it's a
big reason why we said on the show
many times it's okay to trade Joc Pederson
I I know that sometimes it takes an
injury like this to figure that out and
to see things clearly but you could have
traded Joc Pederson and that probably would have
been the wiser move looking back at it
in hindsight if Joc comes back and wins
us the world series clip this and please
repost it and dunk on me as many
times as needed you know I would be
happy happy if that happens but to me
I think the results are speaking for themselves
with this discussion how would we feel if
the team somehow catches the number two seed
in a wild card by we would feel
amazing because the the team would benefit from
having some time off I mean look if
you're hot and they go in to the
end of the season on some crazy heater
you might feel like you'd rather them just
keep playing kind of like they did in
23 but they probably could use the time
off just to have a few guys rest
the body have to grom be like fully
rested and healthy evo same thing it's a
catch 22 the rangers are a little bit
of an older team that probably could benefit
from having a wild card by but if
they are playing good baseball you almost don't
want it to end you really don't you
don't want to see them sit cold if
they finish the regular season having one you
know 10 of their last 12 or whatever
it would be evan tiktok comment here says
evo coming back is massive totally agree I
do think the rangers need to get him
into a starting role again I just don't
think they have the starting pitching depth necessary
to let evo ride out in the pen
I think you've got to bring him back
make him a starter again build him back
up a little bit but you've seen the
impact having evo and middle relief isn't the
worst idea in the world by any means
because the rangers do have a middle relief
issue they don't have enough reliable middle middle
relief arms so set that I know had
a nice game the other night it's definitely
not enough for me to feel comfortable I
think evo shores it up big time but
you just don't have the benefit of starting
pitching depth right now I think you have
to figure out a way to get him
back into the rotation a couple you guys
are asking another tiktok comment francisco what's good
man will jordan montgomery be back in the
rotation I don't think so I don't think
montgomery has looked good enough to justify getting
back into the rotation now would he start
a regular season game I think I could
see that happening are you gonna throw money
into a playoff mix I don't think so
again I just don't see the results being
there for a justification of montgomery being your
game for starter if you're gonna roll with
it I think you go game one two
three let's go no particular order I think
you go to grom quantrill and then you
obviously go evo and then for game four
I would probably do a bullpen game and
then game five you throw to grom again
or you throw whoever started game one again
that to me is the plan I don't
think you roll with like a game for
starter at this point I think you mix
and match in a game four if you're
the two seed and you skip the wild
card round I think you go ahead and
you just throw the kitchen sink at them
in game four with you gore for a
couple rocker maybe you try and put him
in an advantageous spot hopefully with like a
10 run lead you know montgomery you throw
him in the mix I think that you
have to get creative in game four I
don't really want to see the rangers commit
to a starter but I think they'll probably
go with gore as a game four guy
it's just my gut feeling I don't want
to see them do that but I think
they are going to go game four with
gore and by the way if they make
the wild card you don't have this issue
because the wild cards are three game series
so you would start to grom quantrill and
evo and you'd call it a day and
then you'll have to figure out the divisional
round when it gets there but I do
think that's what I would be doing I
think the rangers are going to have a
tough time putting ego out of the way
and I think they will start gore in
a playoff game it is ugly and there
is some egg on your face if you
don't start mackenzie gore in game four or
in a game three depending on the schedule
it's definitely a hit to the ego and
let's see what the rangers are willing to
do at the crossroads of that are you
going to be able to put it aside
and say you know what we did trade
five prospects for him but he hasn't been
consistent enough to really feel good about him
starting in a more stressful environment in october
I think they'll throw him in a game
four to justify it and you know what
it might work out beautifully because that's how
baseball goes I don't feel great about that
right now based on the merits of Mackenzie
Gore's season and what he's actually accomplished on
the field but it wouldn't shock me in
the slightest if the rangers decide without much
thought to do that that to me is
where I'm at with MacKenzie Gore with the
rocker Bradford game for discussion Philip says I
feel Gore would be in a game four
situation for sure for sure I mean Josh
it totally is let's be honest we did
sign our trade for MacKenzie Gore for this
situation but I think you're definitely sticking your
head in the sand not you Josh specifically
but you're sticking your head in the sand
a little bit if you're telling me that
you feel great about Gore taking the ball
in a big game four I mean look
think about it if you're in game four
you're either down 2-1 or you're up
2-1 or maybe you're down 3-0
or you're up 3-0 I mean either
way if we were up 3-0 maybe
I'd feel good about Mickey I mean in
that case you would have won the series
it's a three game set in the divisional
round I guess if you're talking ALCS game
four could be up 3-0 or world
series hopefully look it it just all works
itself out hopefully Gore just catches fire how
about that can MacKenzie Gore just give us
like two more solid starts and then we
all feel much better about him going into
the playoffs that would be the most ideal
seriously yeah Gore to me is not a
guy I would trust in the playoffs but
they might not have a choice Latz could
stretch for three innings in a game for
two you gotta get creative I think they
should get creative in a game four I
think game one two three you've got figured
out you got to grow you got Quantrill
you got Evo I just I don't think
they're gonna be able to roll with Evo
and middle relief it's there's not enough starting
pitching depth there's just not Sugi says comment
from YouTube Rocker would fail to cover first
base every inning if he started in the
playoffs uh Dark appreciate the comment YouTube comment
here I'd rather have Gore than Rocker Rocker
scares me agreed 1000% I do feel
better about Gore than Rocker Gore it feels
like the mental is better in terms of
the little things now Gore still gets rocked
and you have him giving up a bomb
in the first inning it feels like every
other start that's what scares me but Rocker
he can do the same dang thing Rockers
era in the first inning is terrible but
it does feel like every other Gore start
you're having a bomb to run three run
in the first inning like think about the
July start against the Rays he gives up
the three run bomb right away tonight he
gives up the two run bomb right away
it feels like about every other start Mackenzie
Gore is getting a new kid off of
him pretty immediately you have been a couple
of other starts here and there where he's
solid for two or three and then you
know fourth inning rolls around and he melts
a little bit I do feel a little
bit better about Gore than Rocker it's not
like a wide gap but it's definitely a
gap we keep rolling appreciate you guys Houston
has the tie breaker right so we have
to be a game ahead of them PTA
yes so tied right now with 10 games
left but you do have to clear Houston
by one game there is no game 163
which is a shame I am honestly pretty
shocked the league went away with that game
163 was always awesome it's just like extra
baseball man it's great it's great I definitely
would like to see them bring back game
163 and do a wild card round more
baseball more baseball who's gonna be mad at
that what I don't want to see is
them add more playoff teams because that just
cheapens the whole playoff experience but I would
like to see game 163 come back game
163 was always lit always loved watching whoever
was playing in game 163 the Rangers have
had to play some game 163s haven't always
gone well I think we remember the Tampa
Bay we remember the Baltimore game 163 hasn't
always gone great for Texas but nevertheless I'm
a fan of it I'd like to see
them bring it back Nate I've been wondering
where you've been at my guy last 10
games are gonna be tense comment from YouTube
here Nate appreciate you as always brother yeah
it's going to be a very riveting final
week and a half of baseball here I
feel like it's a little anticlimactic that we
go to Minnesota to end the season like
how epic would it be if you were
playing the Astros the last three games that's
honestly what they should do if they're smart
I don't know who the Rangers are playing
the last three games of 2027 could probably
look that up right now but I don't
feel like doing it on the live show
but go back to division rival in the
last weekend come on how awesome would it
be and look it could be devastating for
one team or the other but it's the
right thing have a division rival series end
the regular season that's just peak cinema I
mean that that is pure theater man I
would love to see that happen Armando what's
good Armando makes a good point here to
comment from TikTok maybe Cody figures it out
again we're talking about Bradford right I mean
we love Cody Freeman on the show too
but if Cody Bradford you know could could
really be a long guy either in a
starting role going three or four innings I
just don't feel great about Bradford going around
a second and third time in the lineup
Armando that's my only thing it feels like
Cody is good one time through and then
he really starts having problems that second time
through a lineup and definitely that third time
through a lineup I feel like he's your
two to three inning guy and then you
go to somebody else as a change of
pace I definitely think Cody is useful and
has a place in any kind of playoff
environment or playoff situation but I just don't
think that Cody is right now as currently
assembled I don't know if he's the guy
that you need him to be in October
a guy that could potentially give you anywhere
from six to eight frames that's what you
want out of some of these aces man
you want six innings seven innings eight innings
if possible that's what you want out of
your top arms Cody might be able to
get you four or five I think that's
kind of the the high end that's kind
of the ceiling maybe in the offseason Cody's
able to unlock a couple more things that
would be great but at this point I
think he's better used in the bullpen I've
been pretty consistent about that maybe I'll be
proven dead wrong maybe he'll start just totally
dealing and if he does that's better for
everybody but as I'm seeing it right now
I just question whether or not he is
going to be able to have a lot
of success going deep into ball games against
really good teams we've seen Cody Bradford pitch
against teams that are not so good the
A's the Angels the Giants we've seen that
but we've also seen him pitch against Milwaukee
and teams that have more talent than some
of the bottom theaters and it hasn't gone
awesome we'll see how it goes I think
Cody is going to be a useful arm
as especially in kind of a mix and
match maybe some lefty leverage along with Robert
Garcia Jacob Latz obviously is going to be
closing in the eighth or ninth inning but
I think Cody has a place I'm just
not sure it's as a you know six
or seven inning starter Leiter is injured Byron
comment from TikTok here Montgomery is around and
available but I don't think he is going
to be a guy that steps into a
starting role Josh says TikTok comment here Garcia
still scares me I think Garcia got a
little bit of a bad rap last a
bad rap last night I told you guys
I you know the the error to begin
the inning and I know it got score
to base it that was an error on
somebody but it's not an error on Josh
for the bad throw it should be an
error on burger man you look if you're
a third baseman I'm sorry like if you're
on the run I can understand a skip
throw JJ last night there's no reason to
bounce that ball baby if you're a third
baseman and you're a major league third baseman
again if you are off a back foot
you know your momentum's carrying you to the
outfield if you're planting and throwing man you
gotta be able to hit the first baseman
in the air so last night for me
it's an error on somebody either burger for
not scooping it or Josh Jung for not
throwing the ball from where he was all
the way in the air to Zeke that
was a tough one for Robert Garcia I
think if you can continue to just put
Robert Garcia in the lefty lefty matchups I
think you'll continue to see him succeed I
really do yeah I'm talking about the one
burger couldn't scoop absolutely hmm what else we
got uh Jay no worries buddy that's what
you need to do go for it but
um you could just post again what do
you got to say somebody was complaining that
I I don't answer their comments so they're
unfollowing me it's kind of right on cue
with what I said earlier just you're not
going to make everybody happy I guess it's
too bad uh with that let's segue to
happier things the Rangers want a game tonight
they get a chance to go for a
sweep tomorrow Cody Bradford hopefully going to give
you maybe three four or five strong innings
I don't know that Cody is going to
be giving you a ton of length tomorrow
but maybe maybe I I would love to
see Cody go out and shove and just
totally lock in win a series that would
be when I win a series via the
sweep that would be phenomenal I'll take a
solid five inning outing from Cody and then
you've got a fresh pen Junis you you
probably aren't going to see but Latz can
probably go one to two you've got Robert
Garcia available tomorrow and I do feel good
about RG I don't want to see him
you know get matched up against three writings
in a row but I feel good about
RG I really do I do think we
can win tomorrow I think the team has
good momentum right now absolutely who would I
call up if they make the post I'd
love to see Walcott I mean I don't
think that is really any question I would
love to see Walcott absolutely uh let's see
the funny thing is uh JN the funny
thing is I don't even see any of
the comments that I missed I don't I
JN I don't even see any of the
comments I missed from that dude help me
out uh tick tock chat help me out
what what did I even miss from that
guy if there was a comment at all
send it my way repost it I'm interested
to see like what this comment or what
this question was that was so important to
share yeah I didn't even understand some of
the times when people are like dude you
never answer my comments you never answer my
questions I always tell people like it's never
personal you guys know I try to do
this as a bit of a hybrid show
like this is a bit of a podcast
but it's also a live you know I
know that on tick tock and on a
lot of the social media where lives are
a thing like I know people will literally
just sit there and answer questions the entire
show I think you guys catch the vibe
like I try and do a bit of
a hybrid like I I have my things
I kind of do it a little bit
of podcast style but I really do try
to get to as much stuff as I
can I can't get to everything so I
would just ask like some people and I
would encourage you to do this too like
dm me like if it's just you wanting
to talk ball my dms are not that
crazy if you want to get something off
your chest or if I missed something and
you want to talk about it then dm
me I'll be happy to get back to
you I've been pretty good with that uh
some of y'all have emailed me uh
and I that works too for me so
I just want you to know like if
I miss something during the show and you
really want to talk rangers baseball I don't
be shy just shoot me a dm shoot
me an email and let's talk rangers baseball
man all right hey I appreciate you guys
going back and looking I was like that
was the first time I saw that I
saw him come back but anyways I just
I just wanted to make sure I say
that to you guys it's never personal please
know that obviously I gotta sift through some
of the the dumb stuff you know we
get trolls coming in every now and then
but just know hit me up in the
dms send me an email austin at ride
on rangers.com real easy to remember austin
at ride on rangers.com I'd be happy
to go back and forth with you seriously
we keep rolling uh let's see is jalen
Beeks done for the year yes sugi he
is comment question from youtube here he is
done for the year all right y'all
I gotta wind this thing down man let's
go through rapid fire some of the things
that I had left yeah let's let's definitely
talk through some of the heroes from tonight
I think brandon nimmo I don't think there's
any question not that there was before tonight
but there's no question who won that trade
god bless marcus Semien world series champion but
brandon nimmo has been a much better ball
player than what we got from marcus the
last two years and tonight clutch hit came
through in a big spot gave texas the
lead and then ezekiel he just keeps finding
ways in the middle of meaningful games you
just see him all over the place play
in multiple positions hitting a two run single
to make it a six three ball game
tonight just amazing career year just keeps getting
better and better for that guy 40 man
pulse rangers news we talked about Joc he
does have a fracture in his left hand
as of september 15th yesterday he was receiving
treatment and still hoping to return no real
further update from that no other 40 man
updates either that are worthy of note on
deck tomorrow red socks are going to be
going with sunny gray that's going to be
a tough arm rangers have actually been doing
well against the lefties so you wonder how
they're gonna fare against a righty here you're
gonna see evan carter back in the mix
jake berger gonna slide down a lineup sunny
gray is definitely a guy that is a
shutdown potential arm you are not going to
go into that matchup taking him lightly but
i do think you have nimmo you have
some lefties that are seeing the ball well
josh young righty lefty it really doesn't matter
i'm actually curious what his numbers are against
uh against righty josh young's i'm talking right
now let's see if there's any kind of
weird split one direction or the other so
against righties he is 281 against lefties he's
352 so josh young is raking against lefties
right now 352 average against lefties 933 ops
281 764 ops against righties there you go
texas definitely is going to need to get
a little bit interesting with the pitching we'll
see how long bradford goes but you got
a fresh pen that's a good thing we'll
see if we are talking about the first
place texas rangers tomorrow night man wouldn't that
be awesome the first place texas rangers baby
that's such a good ring to it oh
i will be on cloud nine if throws
lose tomorrow and we win it's wild that
we're here i think there have been some
low low points this year for the team
and even i've said at times feels like
a bit of a nail in the coffin
i would follow it up and say anything's
possible but this team feels like it's kind
of dug its own grave multiple times and
just keeps on crawling out of it that's
the beauty of baseball the beauty of the
game tonight told me this lineup can eventually
at times at some point finally turn volume
into damage and they did that this evening
they had base running base runners all night
long it felt like and they finally started
cashing it in late they need to do
a lot more of that if they want
to make the playoffs and if they want
to make noise in the playoffs still unsure
about the back half of the rotation we've
talked about this at length already feel good
about the ground feel good about calcu i
think evo's gonna be fine if he can
get built up over the next couple of
weeks i just don't know what to do
with the four and five right you got
rocker you got gore you got bradford you
don't really feel great about any three of
those guys any one of those three still
question marks there but one day at a
time and get get a little creative don't
be married to anything if you're skip schumacher
be flexible you got to go with the
flow of the game and it was good
to see skip tonight managing with some urgency
managing this one like a playoff game because
it is it absolutely is watching for how
texas does against a righty you've seen back
-to-back games texas looks really good against
lefty sandoval on tuesday night tonight another lefty
starter that the rangers were able to really
claw against had some really quality at bats
early on let's see how they do against
a righty and sunny gray i i'm a
little bit nervous about that matchup but i
think the momentum that this team has may
overpower that which is a confidence that i
haven't always felt this year no update sosa
on Leiter i think he has not really
thrown a lot i think he might be
in arizona right now last time i heard
all right y'all i got to go
hope you guys have a great rest of
your wednesday night hope to see you guys
tomorrow on the show hopefully talking about another
rangers win 2023 vibes i don't know if
i'm there quite yet but here is where
i'm at just get in you never know
what could happen so in that way yes
like 2023 just get into the playoffs and
we will see where it goes from there
it's beautiful absolutely beautiful how the game can
work sometimes and the rangers are giving themselves
a shot so all you can ask for
have a great thursday we'll be back eighth
or ninth inning tomorrow night hopefully talking about
a ranger sweep of the boston red sox
and the houston astros loss and the rangers
having first place sole possession of the top
spot in the a.o west sound like
a plan ready break and with that as
i always say tend every show god bless
and go rangers
