Hi, and welcome to another edition of Right

on Rangers Live, coming at you after a

thrilling 6-2 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Thrilling because we got some offense in this

ballgame, man.

And is it any shock that Josh Jung,

the jungle cat, J.J., makes his return

and the two just happen to coincide?

I think not.

We have been banging this drum for a

few days now.

You got Josh Jung playing down for Round

Rock.

Round Rock was in Salt Lake City this

week.

Dude, does it matter what jersey he's wearing?

You don't have time for Josh Jung to

do some extended rehab assignment, man.

He's hitting the baseball well in a couple

of games for the Express.

He had a home run a few days

ago.

He's collected multiple hits since his time playing

for Round Rock.

Bring the dude up to the Major League

Club.

We don't have time for a one-week

stay down in the minor leagues, man.

The season is on the brink.

Let's go ahead and bring him up and

see what happens.

And sure enough, the Rangers promptly win a

ballgame.

Shocker.

It's like skip and see why maybe we're

actually watching right on Rangers for a change,

for a good change.

And did we see another thing that we've

talked about here on the show come to

fruition?

Zeke Duran, your starting center fielder over Evan

Carter against a right-hander.

I'm just saying, right on Rangers, maybe on

repeat in the Rangers front office, maybe in

Skip's office.

Two things that we have railed on consistently

during the last multiple lives happened to come

true.

They're finally listening.

I guess I digress.

The Rangers, as we talked about to open

the show, win six to two.

They get Nathan Eovaldi back.

They get Josh Jung back.

You have a pretty good start overall from

Kumar Rocker.

I know it didn't end well, but you

had, I think, a pretty overall solid start

from him beyond not getting a little bit

more length.

But I will say watching him pitch tonight,

I had both the Longhorns game and the

Rangers game kind of split screen.

He was dominant at times.

The vibe that I get off of Rocker

tonight is you're seeing so much of the

upside, right?

You're seeing all the good and all the

potential.

And then in that last frame, in the

fifth inning, you're seeing everything that you don't

love.

Just an enigma is what I called him

early on in the evening.

You're cruising.

You're absolutely cruising in this ballgame.

And then your team goes out and puts

up a six spot in the top of

the fifth, and you promptly walk the first

two batters.

After really an evening of dominance.

Incredible.

Excellent.

And Hey, look, both the Longhorns and the

Rangers coming back tonight.

Rangers were down one to nothing.

Of course, at one point, the Longhorns were

down by a little bit more than one.

That was a game for the ages.

We had fun.

If you're coming back after hanging out with

me for an hour and a half or

so during the Longhorns game and in the

post game, I still haven't come off of

that high.

That was an incredible football game.

I still can't believe what I just witnessed.

And honestly, after some really tough ball games

this week against Seattle and against the diamond

backs, I found it a little hard to

believe that the Rangers were putting up a

six spot in the top of the fifth.

Now, look, this was not a game where

you had the scoring spread out over all

nine.

They did not score in any other inning

besides the fifth.

I don't want to bring the vibes down

tonight.

I don't want to be too negative or

dwell on it.

You know, eventually in the show, we do

get a little nitpicky, but I will say

it's something that you wish the Rangers would

get a little bit better at scoring consistently.

They save everything up for the fifth inning,

and it's all they needed tonight.

And you know what?

At this point in the year, can we

just win ball games?

And that's exactly what the Rangers did this

evening.

Well, you know the drill.

Here at Right on Rangers, we cover everything

talking to nobody.

Like, I literally have nobody in here.

It's just me just staring at my little,

my little recording device here.

And then nobody crickets much rather go through

it this way with you guys.

Always more enjoyable, especially after a Rangers win

like this.

So with that, let's go through some of

I mean, I know I've talked about this

a lot, but I would have done three

games.

I actually probably would have called them up

after that home run game.

Like his first game, he had two hits.

I think first game was Tuesday night and

he had two hits.

Maybe it was Monday night.

The next game he homered.

It's like, what more do we need to

see here?

He got two hits and he homered.

I understand like, let's give him an off

day on that third day and then call

him up.

He should have been in the lineup yesterday.

I mean, look, maybe they wanted to give

him just a second after that hit by

pitch.

He was hit by a pitch.

Josh Jung was down in one of the

rehab games in salt Lake.

Maybe that was a thing, but still they

should have had Josh Jung up a day

earlier.

There's just no reason to waste games, man.

You got 13 games left after tonight's game.

You have 13 left.

You cannot afford to waste any of these

ball games.

Yeah.

Josh should have been up a day or

two ago.

It was, it was one game too late

in my opinion.

And I think you saw the reason why

I was harping on it tonight.

Play out pretty perfectly.

Now Josh Jung slides into the three hole

instantly inject some offense and you know, people

get it twisted a little bit.

I've been hard on JJ this year.

You guys know this, but let's get specific

about what I've actually criticized.

Never the bat.

I definitely was one of the people that

was concerned at the beginning of the season

when Josh was over 18 and he got

benched on that.

What was it?

Wednesday day game in Baltimore.

It was like, actually I think it was

like a random like Tuesday night game.

He got benched because Josh started out the

season over something over 17 or over 18.

He got benched.

And then the day game in Baltimore on

Wednesday was like a getaway game.

He took off, lit it up, had a

great performance.

And he hasn't really looked back from that

moment after getting benched, you know, within the

first 20, 25 games of the season, Zeke

Duran filled in.

And I mean, Zeke's done his thing this

year, obviously very impressive as well, but we

have not really been hard on JJ in

any other category beyond a little bit, the

conditioning, the running, the speed, but more so

the glove.

Right.

But the bat has been there for a

long, long time.

And I said, look, you're going to have

to maybe stomach some off some, some defense

down there at third base.

But at the end of the day, you

need that bat because you don't have a

lot of other bats that are really clicking.

And I mean, even tonight you had some

offers.

You had a lot of people that did

have hits tonight.

You had looks like 1, 2, 3, 4,

5.

You had six, even a little more than

that.

Seven Rangers had a hit tonight, seven different

Rangers.

You had Nikki Lopez.

Oh, for one of those was a sacrifice.

Pederson and Foscue combo technically went over Jock

Pederson, by the way, out of the game

after getting hit by a pitch.

That one is going to be interesting to

monitor.

Alejandro Osuna was pulled from his minor league

game.

I think again, they, they are close by

in round, not in round rock, but they

were in salt Lake.

I think they're still in salt Lake.

So Alejandro is very close, you know, maybe

an hour and a half flight to Phoenix

from salt Lake.

So Alejandro Osuna may be up with the

club.

He probably already is.

If I had to guess they probably got

him on a flight.

He's on taxi squad.

Alejandro has been on taxi squad a few

times.

If you're not familiar with the term, essentially

you go with the club, you travel where

the club is and you wait to see

if they're going to IL Joc Pederson, and

you're going to take his spot or you

might get sent back down.

And you just took a trip to good

old Phoenix for no reason.

We will see.

I believe that they go back to Texas

after this salt Lake series, typically in the

minor leagues, they do a whole week road

trip.

So like when they come to Vegas where

I'm at, they'll play the aviators for an

entire week.

They're playing the salt Lake bees right now,

the Anaheim angels, triple a affiliate for a

full week.

So I think they will go back to

round rock after this, but tomorrow they'll finish

out the series with the bees in salt

Lake.

But I'd imagine Alejandro is already in Phoenix

and we're just waiting on, is Jock going

to hit the IL?

Is he not?

It was a risk thing.

I believe.

Check me on that if I'm wrong, but

I think it was a risk thing.

We'll see what happens.

I do feel pretty confident about a series

win.

I'm, I'm pretty superstitious when it comes to

sports in general.

I do feel pretty good about Cal Q

tomorrow.

Uh, don't know a ton about the diamond

backstarter.

If I'm just being real with you guys

looking at the probable starters for tomorrow's game,

uh, Rodriguez, that's going to be a tough

one.

Eduardo Rodriguez tomorrow is going to be tough.

That is definitely the one guy that I

was hoping wasn't going to show up on

my page.

When I refreshed their Eduardo Rodriguez lefty, uh,

two 55 era 15 and five on the

year record.

This is definitely going to be a pitcher's

dual tomorrow.

And you hope Cal Q his game.

He has been many times this year, but

this is going to be a tough test

for Texas.

Eduardo Rodriguez is one of the better pitchers

in the game right now.

I would say he's one of the best

pitchers in the game based on his actual

merits on the field and what he's accomplished.

So it's going to be tough.

You got to find a way.

Uh, you cannot drop this series.

You definitely injected a, an ounce of life

into this equation with the wind tonight, but

you lose tomorrow.

You drop two out of three, you drop

four out of six on the road trip.

That's just not going to work.

We will definitely get more into the matchup

tomorrow here.

Just a little bit.

Um, soldier I'm with you on this comment

from YouTube.

Losing Joc is not ideal at this point.

I mean, if we're being fair, Joc has

not really been crushing it.

I know he had the home run the

other night, but I mean, let's go to

the Joc Pederson stats and I'll kind of

show you what I'm talking about.

Like Joc is 11 for his last 65.

And we're talking about a one 69 batting

average in his last 30 games.

Now over his last 15, it gets a

little better.

He has a two 29 average 908 OPS.

That's solid.

Uh, last seven games, you've got an OPS

over a thousand collectively.

I would say it's not been great again,

last 30, not good.

169 batting average looks like a seven 14

OPS, but the last week to two weeks

has been really, really good for Joc.

And so I do think if you are

of the mindset that he's out of the

slump and he's on the heater, I do

agree.

I think the bottom line is this, however

you feel about Joc Pederson, the Rangers just

don't have a lot of bats.

They don't have a lot of offense.

And so any type of offense and Joc

is a type of offense.

I think you're going to miss regardless.

And so that's where we're at right now.

Joc Pederson did not get an update on

him.

Anybody who's live right now with me, did,

did anybody get an update on Joc?

I did not hear a whole lot else

on him.

Now, just being real.

I took about an hour to hang out

and relax before I started getting ready to

do this live after the long horns one.

And I didn't do a lot of exploring

on it.

He was hit on the wrist, which was

broken by a pitch last year was in

pain.

Evan Grant says, but at that point was

remaining in the game.

I'm not seeing anything.

I'm going to go to the latest here.

He's going to be evaluated further.

This was eight minutes ago.

This was Evan Grant eight minutes ago, posting.

He's going to be evaluated further.

Pederson said x-ray showed no fracture in

the hand, but he's expected to meet with

Arizona based hand specialist Donald Sheridan on Sunday

for further evaluation.

He acknowledged the hand, which was in a

plastic brace after the game was still sore.

Also infielder Nikki Lopez reached back for his

hamstring after running to first base in the

sixth, though he played the bottom of the

inning.

He too was removed as a precaution.

Manager Skip Schumaker said Lopez indicated he wanted

to remain in the game.

So there's your injury update from Evan Grant

Evans up late tonight.

This was nine minutes ago, Dallas morning news

Rangers reporting.

There you go.

So we're probably going to see Osuna.

If I had to guess, doesn't sound like

jocks going to play, but that doesn't mean,

you know, even though he's not going to

play tomorrow and he's going to go see

the specialist.

That doesn't mean that he's going to go

on the IL.

So I do think it is probably going

to be Osuna on the taxi squad, just

kind of hanging out.

He might be in the dugout tomorrow, might

be in the clubhouse.

We'll see what happens.

I feel like it's, it's going to take

something pretty special.

I am with Ethan here.

I do want to keep everybody's expectations where

they need to be.

I'm not trying to sell false hope, but

I'm also not trying to discourage people.

You know, I think I've always said every

single year, you always have Rangers accounts and

Rangers people, you know, feeling the need to

call it when the season's done, right?

The season's over.

What a terrible loss season's done.

I've always fought back against that.

Although I will say, I don't feel great

about where the season is going.

Even after the win tonight, I think the

chances are pretty bleak that the Rangers pull

this out.

So I'm not trying to sell false hope

to anybody, but I've been around long enough.

I'm not old, old, but I'm getting up

there.

I've been around the game long enough to

know that crazy things can happen.

And so I'm not going to give up

on the team until they are mathematically eliminated,

but I am going to be very upfront.

This is going to be near miraculous for

the Rangers to pull off.

And I do think that a run like

this going 11 and two going 10 and

three down the stretch, I think 10 and

three Ethan could get you where you want

to go.

10 and three, I think 11 and two

would put you in a much better position,

but shoot 12 and one would 13 and

no wood.

I think if you go 10 and three

over your last 13 games, I mean, I'll

take that.

Now, if we're looking at the standings, uh,

that would put you, uh, 10 and three,

uh, that would be 83 and 79, 83

and 79 to go 10 and three right

now, by the way, your two games back

at the Astros and your two games back

in the wild card, you had pretty much

everybody losing that you needed to lose the

guardians lost, uh, the blue Jays did win.

So there's that, that was not the most

ideal outcome, but guardians lose Astros lose.

And you never know, look, the Astros, uh,

I'm looking at the Astros schedule right now.

We'll check this out.

I haven't really done this.

I haven't looked at what is the schedule

like for some of the teams ahead of

the Rangers.

So Astros are going to play one more

against the Rays.

Then they play the Royals, which is a

winnable series for them.

They play the Braves.

That could be a tough series for the

Astros.

These are both home series.

Then they play the Mariners on the road

for two game set.

They finish with a four game series in

Sacramento against the A's.

That to me is the tough part with

the Astros, with the division is they finished

their final four games against one of the

worst teams in baseball.

So now let's go ahead and let's play

the schedule game with the guardians.

Let's see where they're at guardians right now,

by the way, are playing Minnesota.

So a little divisional matchup here, guardians down

the stretch after Minnesota series, we'll go on

to play the white Sox.

That's a big series.

You could definitely see some damage done against

the guardians in that white Sox series.

They then host the A's.

So that's a break.

And then they play the Red Sox and

Royals.

So, so far for both teams ahead, I'm

seeing a couple of good series against good

teams and a couple of bad series.

I do think though, this white Sox series

with the guardians could get interesting.

If the guardians drop the game tomorrow and

lose two out of three against the white

Sox, which I think is possible.

If the Rangers can go on a little

run, I mean, we'll see what the blue

Jays do.

Blue Jays are going to be who we

look at next.

We'll see what the blue Jays do, but

let's say guardians lose tomorrow and they lose

two out of three in their series with

the white Sox coming up Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday.

Now we're talking like that, that is cooking

with gas right there.

You're only two games out.

Now let's go to the blue Jays and

let's see what they're up to.

So the blue Jays, by the way, are

in the middle of a series with the

Orioles who are behind the Rangers in the

wild card with much bleaker hopes at this

point, but the blue Jays down the stretch,

they will finish their series with the Orioles

tomorrow.

They will then go on and play a

series with the Tigers.

Tigers, that feels like a winnable series.

The big one is going to be the

Rangers and the blue Jays play each other

in a couple of weeks, right?

Actually a week from now, the Rangers and

the blue Jays will be playing each other

in Arlington, the 18th, 19th and 20th.

Then the Jays go to Baltimore for a

three game set and the Jays finish with

a series against the Reds.

That is fortuitous for the Rangers.

The Reds are a good team.

The Reds will likely give them a competitive

series.

Reds right now in the national league, I

mean, look, they, they definitely, you know, been

eliminated, but nevertheless, they have a good squad.

I don't think that the Reds are just

pushover.

I definitely know that the Reds had their

moments this year where they were right in

the thick of playoff race, but very clearly

out of it.

I still think that that's a challenging team

to face.

They have their moments.

They're not in a good place right now,

but that could be an interesting series.

I don't feel like that's of the same

caliber of like the A's if you will.

Reds are 10 games under 500.

I mean, look, they're not that far behind

the Rangers.

I mean, just being totally real with y

'all right now, Rangers are three games under

500.

Yeah.

It's going to be down the stretch really

just about, can the Rangers win games?

I mean, as I'm looking at these schedules,

I don't see anything crazy.

Every team that's ahead of the Rangers has

a couple of series against good teams and

a couple of series against bad teams.

And that's kind of what it is for

Texas right now.

I mean, as you look at the Rangers

and what they have coming up for their

series ahead, we all know we're finishing up

the series, of course, with the Diamondbacks tomorrow.

You go back home to Arlington and you

play the Red Sox.

And then from there you play the Blue

Jays, big series.

You then go to a series with the

Mets.

They have a nine game homestand coming up,

by the way.

Next nine games for the Rangers are at

home.

That is the big thing because the Rangers

are a much better ball club playing at

Globe Life.

They are actually like an above 500 team

playing at Globe Life.

And so I love the fact that the

Rangers are on this long homestand to end

the season.

They do go to Minnesota the last three

games looks like of the year, the 25th,

26th, and 27th.

The Twins, they definitely have some players that

are going to challenge you.

No doubt we played the Twins earlier this

year.

The Twins are a decent squad.

I know that they're likely not going to

make the playoffs right now.

They are four and a half games out

of the wild card.

Never say never, but the Twins aren't going

to be a pushover.

Nevertheless, you could be playing much more challenging

teams on that last weekend.

I feel like MLB, just a little side

note, is kind of botching this last weekend.

Like I look at a lot of these

matchups for the last weekend of the regular

season.

None of these matchups are like very interesting.

You have like Astros A's.

Come on now.

They, they had to have known when they

made this schedule, Astros and A's was not

going to be must see television.

You've got the Blue Jays playing the Reds.

What?

I mean, these, these are the least interesting

final series of the year that I've ever

seen.

Twins Rangers to end the year with potential

playoffs on the line.

Why did they go away?

I feel like we always would play like

the Mariners or, you know, we, we would

play the angels, the last series and look,

the angels, I know have been bad for

a while, but I just remember like back

in the 2010s, early 2010s, you know, we,

we played the A's.

We would play the angels last weekend series

of the year.

Bring that back, man.

What, what are we doing with Blue Jays

Reds to end the, the, the season?

I just don't understand that at all.

I don't soldier comment here from YouTube.

Looks like your Don is injured.

He has missed past two games with an

ankle injury.

Okay.

That could get interesting.

That could get interesting.

Kachow says, I know Higgies bat isn't good,

but man, where is he originally was supposed

to be 15 day.

I mean, is anybody surprised that Higgie needed

a lot more time, a lot more time

on the IL than what was originally said?

Hmm.

It's crazy.

Baltimore.

Rob Zilla was good.

Mount Baltimore has a better shot to get

in than the Rangers do.

I don't know about that.

Baltimore is what a couple of games behind

Baltimore in the wildcard race.

Uh, Rangers of course are two games out.

Baltimore's okay.

Three games out.

Who does Baltimore have down the stretch though?

I don't know that.

Well, that's probably the one team that we

didn't look at, huh?

Baltimore schedule.

They finish up with the Blue Jays tomorrow.

Baltimore goes and plays the Mets.

That's nice.

The Mets are pretty bad.

They got to play the Brewers and the

Blue Jays back to back though, man, that

doesn't sound easy.

And then you finish with the Yankees.

Uh, yeah, I don't know how you're coming

to that conclusion.

I actually look at the Baltimore schedule and

I think, yeah, you get the Mets three

games Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday this week, but then

you got to play three series in a

row against teams that are either in the

playoffs, uh, trying to lock up something, uh,

or, you know, outside looking in, but have

a shot to make the playoffs.

So I don't feel like Baltimore has a

really great shot.

Honestly, looking at this, it's split between home

and road.

Rangers have the most home games out of

all the teams.

I actually feel like on paper and look

on paper is not a good judge, but

I actually feel like on paper, the Rangers

probably have one of the better shots to

make the playoffs just from the fact that

they have the most home games out of

all these teams that we just talked about

remaining.

They have a nine game homestand coming up.

That is legitimate, especially when you consider the

Rangers played much better at home, uh, going

back to the Rangers record at home.

I know it's been something that we've harped

on, on the show multiple times.

Uh, Texas is 40 and 32 at home.

They're eight games over 500 when they play

in Arlington.

So I think that if you're thinking that

the Rangers have a shot, you're not crazy,

but I do think it is going to

take something pretty powerful for Texas to figure

this one out.

I'm not holding my breath and I don't

say that to be negative.

I'm just, I'm not holding my breath, but

I'm going to watch every game and I'm

going to put my heart and soul into

the show and bringing you guys good stuff

each and every night.

I know today was a little weird with

the Longhorns game.

Tomorrow will work out nicely.

It's tough.

I haven't had that happen where the Rangers

and the Longhorns game are on at the

exact same time.

It's, it's kind of weird, but a lot

of the times, you know, Texas plays in

the morning, uh, they'll play, you know, whatever

at 12, one o'clock and the Rangers

play a Saturday night game.

And it's always kind of worked out well

for me, but for whatever reason, uh, this

is like one of the first times I've

ever had that concurrent, both games happening at

exact same time.

It was kind of fun actually, but, um,

it definitely makes for a long day with

the content, but you know what?

It's not forever.

Baseball is going to be done and over

with in the blink of an eye.

And we'll have plenty of time to rest

and chill out during the football season.

I still do live shows during the off

season, by the way, we usually go live

once a week for Rangers and then I'm

live a couple other times for football.

And if anything crazy happens in Ranger land,

big news, big trade, big free agent acquisition.

Uh, we definitely will do an emergency pod

and emergency live for those two, just FYI.

Uh, let's see.

twins and when everyone was healthy, they didn't

bat well.

Yeah.

I, I think that with everybody healthy right

now, you know, Jung's healthy Seager's healthy.

You got Langford healthy.

Um, you got Nimmo in the mix.

You've got those four guys on the field

at the same time.

Look all year long, the excuses and the

reasoning was, man, we just haven't had the

core all in the same field.

Evan Grant kind of wrote about this a

day or two ago.

Well, you know what?

Now you got the core all in the

same field.

Unfortunately you have a very, very razor thin

margin for error, but here's your shot, right?

You got 13 games left.

You have everybody healthy in the lineup.

Let's see what you can do.

Getting in by the division would be key.

The way the seating works now.

You could at this point really benefit from

a three game series at home.

Looking at the other teams, there is a

chance that you could be the number two

seed there.

There is a chance because right now the

white Sox are 76 and 72.

So the Rangers are, I think three games.

If I'm doing, if the math is mathing

here, the Rangers are three and a half

games behind the white Sox.

So it's not impossible that the Rangers could

be a two seed.

If they have some crazy surge, that would

be huge.

That would be crazy.

I I'm not, like I said, I'm not

counting on it, but it is mathematically possible.

You could see the white Sox drop down

to the three seed, which would make them

have to play in the wild card round,

right?

The worst division winner, if you will, plays

in the wild card round.

Granted, they get a home home series, right?

It's three games in a row, a best

two out of three, but you play every

game in one place.

So the division winner that has the worst

record, they'll at least get a three game

series at home against one of the wild

card teams.

Chicago does not have that two seed locked

up, man.

Houston is, looks like one and a half

games behind them.

And then the Rangers are right there too.

Rangers did win tonight.

Do I think it would have been nice

if they took a chance on Walcott and

sat Carter?

Well, I mean, they are sitting Carter, right?

They sat Carter tonight against the right hander.

I wonder if that trend is going to

continue or if they are going to be

enchanted by Evan Carter's base hit today and

put them right back in that lineup against

the right handers.

Yeah.

I kind of say, look, if it ain't

broke, don't fix it.

You want a baseball game, putting Josh Jung

back in the lineup and benching Evan Carter.

Can we just be real?

I mean, can we just say it out

loud?

You benched Evan Carter.

You brought Josh Jung back and you want

a baseball game.

And the offense looked formidable at times.

Didn't necessarily score a lot outside of that

fifth inning.

Right.

But had chances was dangerous creating opportunities.

I definitely don't want to heap a lot

on Evan Carter.

I know I've talked about him a lot

over the last few shows.

Glad that he got a base knock tonight,

but I do think it's the right move

to put Zeke in center field.

I hope that they stick with this.

I think Evan Carter off the bench can

be valuable.

And I think you saw that tonight.

He was valuable off the bench tonight.

Keep doing that.

I think that would be a really positive

development for Evan.

I do think could be a nice reset

for him.

Seriously.

I'm not being disingenuous here.

I do think a little reset could be

nice for Evan.

And then you can still utilize him in

a pinch hit role.

If you need, you know, a guy that's

not necessarily going to be a big time

home run threat, but he is a guy

that can hit the ball hard.

And yes, he can run into one every

once in a while, but more importantly, you

can sub him in late in a ball

game for defensive reasons.

You can put him on the basepaths.

He's a great guy.

He's a great stolen base guy.

I think he has value.

Even if he's not starting, that doesn't mean

you can't start him ever, but I would

love if they would stick with this.

Hey, Zeke Duran, everyday center fielder, Evan Carter

spells occasionally and plays more of a Travis

Jankowski type role.

I know that'll connect with some of you

guys.

Definitely.

Travis was valuable in that 2023 run in

the world series, especially when Doley went down.

I think Evan should probably take on a

bit more of the Travis Jankowski role at

this point.

And you know what, maybe in the off

season, he crushes it.

He gets in the lab and they figure

something out.

But at this point, I just feel like

this is a good thing, a good development.

I really did not think in my heart

of hearts that the club would consider a

move like this.

And maybe this move is just one day

only.

Maybe it's just a one-off.

Hey, Evan needed a break.

Evan needed a little reset and they're just

going to go right back to the same

old, same old.

I hope that they don't.

I hope that they kind of ride this

out a little bit.

Let Zeke be your everyday guy.

You can do the carousel at second base,

right?

You got JJ at third, not a huge

fan of JJ play in third, but you

got to get the bat in the lineup.

I definitely not advocating for Josh Chung to

not be in the lineup.

Trust me.

I'm just not a big fan of the

glove down there at third base, but it

is what it is.

You got to stomach it at this point.

Second base though, you got Freeman, you got

Foscue, right?

You got Lopez.

I know he exited today with the hamstring

injury.

I'm assuming everything is okay though.

They said Lopez could have stayed in the

game, but precautionary reasons with a lead.

They wanted to do something different there.

You've also got Cam Cauley.

Cam Cauley can play second base.

So you've got plenty of second base options.

I know some people, you know, why don't

you play Zeke at second?

You know, that's, that's probably the best case

scenario for the defense.

I mean, you may be not wrong defensively,

but the defense right now is not a

big issue right now.

The offense is the issue.

I think you have to figure out a

way to improve the offense.

You can take a little away in terms

of defense.

Although I feel pretty confident with Nicky Lopez

out there.

I think Justin Foscue is your question mark

defensively.

He's actually been pretty steady down the stretch

after a rough start to his 2026 campaign

with the glove.

Who could forget the walk-off bobble that

he had against the angels back in May.

That was a journey.

He's had a couple others.

I mean, the one where he like ran

into Corey Seager.

He's had a few pretty memorable gaffes this

year out there, but it feels like he's

been more solid of late Cody Freeman.

He had some issues at third base, but

I think Cody could play a really good

second base for you.

And then Cam Cauley.

I think Cam's a great defender.

He's got the most range out of all

those guys.

Rangers, I think can get by with that

carousel at second.

Zeke Duran, to me, a really good option

to have out there in the outfield out

in center field.

I'm glad that he has come on as

strong as he has.

Foscue's definitely been impressive with the bat.

No doubt.

I mean, we're just talking strictly defense, right?

With the bat, Foscue has been impressive.

I know he didn't come through today in

his big moment, but he's come through in

some big moments for us.

Britt, what's good comment is TikTok.

I don't think anyone is comfortable at second.

I think Cam, if you gave Cam Cauley

a little bit more of a runway, he'd

probably be your best club out there.

Lopez, I feel pretty confident with him.

Foscue and Freeman are probably the guys on

the little iffy side, but that's only because

Cody's had a little bit of struggle with

the glove.

I know at third base, it's tough.

It's definitely, I, it's a tough position to

play.

I think Adrián Beltré made it look really,

really easy for a lot of years and

we got really spoiled as Rangers fans.

I do think Cody has a good glove,

but I think that you can make it

work at second base.

Let's just bring it full circle here.

Center field.

You definitely want to make sure if you

are going to bench Evan Carter, somebody's out

there in center.

That is going to not be a steep

drop off.

Feels like Duran is not a huge drop

off from Evan Carter.

I'm not saying he's on the same level

as Carter.

Carter is elite with the glove.

He's elite.

Zeke Duran is elite with the glove as

well, although unproven out in the outfield at

this point.

Dark was good.

I don't know if he's still hanging out,

but you, you already know how I feel

about Alejandro Osuna.

I would love to see him back in

the lineup.

I don't want to see Jock go down.

I think the Rangers do need his back,

but I'd love to see Alejandro Osuna selfishly.

I would love to see him back in

the dugout, back in the, you know, whatever

the, the starting, however many 15, uh, that

they've got between the starting lineup and the

bench.

I would definitely welcome that a bit of

a sight of sore eyes.

He's just a good clubhouse guy.

He is a great clubhouse guy, man.

And I think that you are going to

see him blossom when he fully gets his

opportunity.

Uh, meaning he's just, he's not looking over

his shoulder all the time.

You know, there's been some guys on the

team that have really had that luxury.

You're not really worried about getting replaced every

other game because you mess up when you

have the freedom that no one behind you

is really gunning for your job that the

club believes in you.

And they're giving you a chance to succeed.

I think that can take a weight off.

It doesn't always lead to positive results, but

it can take a pretty huge weight off

the shoulders.

I know I haven't responded to this in

a while, but go ahead, man.

Um, we're we'll focus mostly on Rangers during

a little college football here and there on

I think Carter will probably be continued to

But Osuna, I think is a useful player.

Is he going to hit 25 bombs for

you?

Probably not, but is he going to find

ways to get on base, give you good

energy off the bench?

I say yes.

I think Carter needs a hard reset in

the off season.

Whatever he did this last off season with

the swing was not good.

Dump it, do something different.

I would totally mix it up.

If I was Evan Carter, he is at

a really good place right now where you're,

you're pretty much at rock bottom.

So it really frees you up to try

something new.

I know that baseball players, creatures of habit,

totally get it.

But I mean, if you're Evan Carter, you're

at rock bottom, rock bottom offensively, why not

mix it up a little bit?

I mean, that, that to me just seems

natural, but it is hard with some of

these baseball players to break the routine.

I mean, you got, look at Corey Seager,

same swing doctor for 10 years, dude's a

robot.

I don't know where Evan's at, but if

I'm Evan, I'm looking into some different off

season strategies for sure.

Different than what I did in the 2025

off season going into 2026.

Carter got to ride the bench.

Sugi says from YouTube here until his bat

pushes him off the bench should have been

the thing we did the entire season.

I couldn't agree more.

I really feel like we wasted a lot

of time with Carter, you know, people arguing

his defense.

And I really wish the Rangers would have

tried to pivot off of his bat sooner.

However, there were some injuries Sugi that prevented

them, I think from doing this.

I remember Wyatt Langford got hurt.

He was like injured and then he came

back, but then he got hurt again.

And I think that second time Wyatt got

hurt, really saved Evan Carter.

I know saved is maybe not the greatest

word choice, but it saved Evan Carter from

a demotion.

I do not think Evan Carter would have

survived getting demoted if Wyatt Langford would have

stayed healthy.

I think they would have probably sent Evan

Carter down and at least given him a

two to three week reset in AAA just

to see if it did anything.

But when Wyatt Langford went down the second

time, it really slammed the door shut on

Evan Carter going down.

They just didn't have the bats.

perspective like he didn't have a great path

to playing time.

But I also think that players like Carter

a little bit differently, given more rope, given

more leash, if you will.

And so with that in mind, I did

understand the Osuna demotion.

Didn't like it.

And I think Evan Carter probably should have

been a little bit more quickly sent down

benched.

I think the Rangers did ride it out

with Evan Carter a little bit too long,

but it is what it is at this

point.

The little rascals though.

They need a little rascals type run.

a 20 game stretch.

That's kind of what they need right now.

ceilings, but Carter and Langford weren't playing to

that ceiling and Osuna was giving you more.

That's the main issue, right?

Is you have seen the Rangers really do

things based more off of ceiling than merit,

meaning you're doing things more off future potential.

You're making decisions based on future potential rather

than what's actually being accomplished on the field.

And so I do think Osuna was being

more productive offensively for sure than Evan Carter.

Not necessarily with the glove.

I think Evan Carter's got one of the

best gloves in baseball out there in center

field and obviously has elite speed as well.

But Osuna came through with some really big

hits.

I do think that they could have done

better mixing him in at least letting him

and Carter Duke it out a little bit

in center field.

I would have probably done more of a

competition style.

I think that might've actually been good for

Evan.

We'll see what ultimately ends up happening there.

But I think the move, bringing this all

full circle here, I think the move tonight

playing Zeke in center field against a righty

and benching Evan Carter.

I mean, again, it's something that we've been

talking about over the last two weeks and

the Rangers.

I look, well, we know Skip Schumaker has

right on Rangers block, but maybe there's still

some wise people in the room that occasionally

are tuning into the show and picking up

some good ideas.

You can only hope.

offense really erupt.

Langford's homer was huge.

What I liked even more than that was

Texas kept it going.

They didn't just stop like they have been

so prone to do.

Somebody hits a big homer and we're good.

Let's call it a night.

They actually added on Diaz, drove in the

go-ahead run.

Jung drove in an insurance run.

Nimmo brought one in.

Duran finished off the damage with two more.

They didn't score once and then go quiet.

They have done that so many times this

year.

They just kept applying pressure tonight and that

was huge.

That's been missing far too often.

And I know it wasn't, Hey, we're scoring

over multiple innings, but the bottom line is

they took advantage of the opportunities for the

most part that were presented to them.

They probably could have put up closer to

10 runs tonight if they had taken full

advantage, but we're not complaining too much on

a six to win night of all the

gives them.

I think an interesting option.

We haven't talked about Evo a lot.

Definitely was rusty.

He went two and two thirds innings pitched.

He allowed one run.

Didn't walk anybody.

I think that's a good thing.

And you also saw him strike out two

in his first appearance since August 7th.

Look, I'm, I'm definitely not thinking that anything's

going to change with the reliever rotation thing.

I think they are going to stick with

Evo out in the bullpen.

I think they'll take this version of Evo

over not having him at all.

If he can give you real multi any

work while he builds back up a little

bit that definitely could be a very solid

weapon to employ at different points in this

playoff race.

And maybe even into October, possibly I could

see if they get him back to October,

you might maybe hear the discussion start popping

up about Evo getting back into the rotation.

But I think right now you got to

build them back up a little bit.

Any version of Evo, I think you're going

to take at this point with especially how

up and down the bullpen has been right

tonight.

Rocker was better, but I do think that

fifth inning leaves a little bit of a

bad taste in your mouth.

But if you're being honest, he looked really

good at times tonight.

I think the negative is you have the

six runs put up on the board and

he comes out in the bottom of the

fifth and you know, can't find control.

It's like, dude, we just need you to

throw strikes, pitch to contact a little bit

and you know, get us home.

The lead is good.

We got a five run lead, buddy.

Just put the ball in the strike zone.

And for Kumar not to be able to

do that, you know that that's what they

were telling him before he walked back out.

You know that that's something that they're emphasizing

to him.

Disappointing.

Would have been nice to get at least

through five innings, maybe even six with Kumar.

Look, Texas definitely did their part handing him

a big lead.

Garcia comes in and cleans it up.

It was nice to see Garcia have another

pretty good outing.

I would say tonight for Kumar, maybe a

little baby step forward.

Let's say a baby step forward, but not

much.

I mean, you'd like to see Kumar Rocker

consistently make it through six innings and not

get pulled after four or five routine, which

is what's happening now.

Elias Díaz quietly had a pretty huge game.

We haven't talked about it.

Elias Díaz a lot on the show tonight.

So three hits and the RBI that put

Texas ahead Jung, definitely is going to get

a lot of press because of the return

after being out a month and a half

Evo is going to get that same return

story.

You know, Langford hits the monster Homer, but

we can't lose a Elias Díaz and all

that, that dude continues to be a godsend

for the Rangers.

That is a big Chris Young, Ross Fenstermaker

maker victory.

Signing a Elias Díaz was so huge and

he was right in the middle of why

the Rangers won tonight.

Langford getting back on track was nice to

see.

I know he has come on the last

couple of days here and giving you a

little bit of life.

That's great.

435 foot Homer, but the better part is

like what started that swing.

Texas was down one to nothing.

Langford ended up tying it.

And then the entire lineup suddenly came alive

behind him.

Langford had a double as well tonight.

Langford's performance.

That is a September performance.

Those are September swings.

Those are the swings that we need from

him.

As we are hoping and praying that a

miracle happens in the Texas Rangers are in

the playoffs team news, just a little break

in the action again with Joc Pederson, no

fracture, but he is going to get further

evaluation tomorrow.

And look tomorrow's game, Eduardo Rodriguez, 15 and

five to 55 ERA Cal Q most likely

going to start.

I don't know if he's officially been named

a starter or not.

Maybe he has already, but it would seem

likely that you're going to see Cal Q

tomorrow.

So look, you recovered from Friday's disaster, right?

Now you got to go ahead and win

the series.

It's not going to be easy against one

of the better pitchers in the game and

Eduardo Rodriguez, but crazy things can happen in

the game of baseball.

CY has made is based on potential rather

Look at what we gave up for Gore

all because of the potential for a third

ace.

You might be onto something there.

I've seen the Rangers do that a lot

over the last couple of years.

They've tried to get away with it here

and there.

and large, I do think they need a

mix up.

There are some pieces worth keeping around, but

they need to mix things up next year.

It will not be my most favorite.

I'm going to assume that baseball is going

to get played at some point.

You can definitely keep some guys around, but

going to naturally part ways with in free

agency.

And I think there are some guys that

you should try and trade as well.

I think that would be definitely something to

consider here also.

man, I, I just wish you could see

him put it all together.
