Jaxson Dart Carves Up Cowboys' New Defense in Opener

Hi and welcome to another edition of Right

on Rangers Live coming at you in the

fourth quarter.

Cowboys trailing the Giants 21-14.

Man oh man, we have got about 11

minutes and 40 seconds left in this ballgame.

Giants driving and man you'd love to hold

them to zero right here if there's any

way possible.

This defense has been something else.

They have been something else today.

I thought that this was going to be

a little bit of a different look.

I thought that the Eberflus days were behind

us man.

And here we are watching the Giants just

run it down our throats.

You've got Jaxson Dart, Cam Skattebo.

You've got those guys pretty much running all

over the field wherever they want.

Dart's going to drop back.

A little screenplay.

Dallas does a great job sniffing this one

out.

Very, very nice job tracking that screen.

And you're going to have a second in

long here.

That could be huge in avoiding points being

put on the board here for New York.

Appreciate all y'all hanging out.

We had a Rangers show earlier in the

day.

We're double dipping with the Cowboys.

It's great.

Life is good.

McJay, what's up buddy?

Thanks for hanging out.

Appreciate all you guys here at Right on

Rangers.

We cover everything Texas sports, but we put

a big emphasis on the Cowboys during the

NFL season.

And we thank you for choosing Right on

Rangers for all of your Dallas Cowboys content.

Second and 17.

Jaxson Dart in the gun.

Drops back to pass.

He's going to complete this one.

Gets it back to about third and 10.

Still going to be a third and long

for the Giants.

Feel free to drop a comment.

Drop a question along the way.

During the game, we'll be checking the chat

periodically.

But after the game for postgame, we will

definitely be a lot more alert with what's

going on.

Cowboys really dug themselves a hole in this

one.

You had the offense really sputtering early on.

You had the Giants figuring out a way

to drive the ball.

Dak with the big interception before the half.

You also had George Pickens dropping a couple

of what would have been big gains.

It just has not been a clean game

of football.

Kenzie, thank you so much for the heart.

Appreciate that.

Ugly first down allowed by the Cowboys defense.

That was pathetic, man.

Absolutely pathetic.

I have no clue how they got that

first down.

It was wide open space on the left

side.

Too easy.

Candy from a baby, man.

Candy from a baby.

Nobody over on the left side.

Flats just wide open for the Giants there.

Ty says, football gods are making this Cowboys

game horrible due to the comeback from the

Longhorns.

I mean, look, if I have to have

a Cowboys loss tonight because of experiencing that

Longhorns comeback, I think I may be in

the same boat as you.

First and 10.

Ball at the 14-yard line for the

Giants.

Nine minutes left to go.

Maybe a timeout here.

Play clock was ticking down.

Actually, they take the delay of game.

It's going to be first and 15 from

the 19-yard line.

Yeah, look, a lot of y'all in

Instagram hanging out.

How did the defense get worse?

I know a lot of people are going

to say week one.

I mean, look, it is possible to play

good defense in week one.

I'm just throwing that out there.

I know I've done this so many times

with Rangers games.

You can't criticize anybody until 60 games plus

into the season.

Look, man, there are defenses playing well in

week one around the NFL.

Yes, we know it's an offensive league, but

nevertheless, you were hoping it was going to

be a lot better than what you've seen

tonight.

Toss play here only goes for about two

or three.

Skattebo getting a little bit of a break.

Singletary taking the bulk of the carries at

this point in time, and that clock keeps

ticking down.

Swolja says from YouTube here, I see no

difference in the defense.

Looks just as bad as last year.

The secondary especially, like in the secondary, you've

seen wide open so many times.

It's like nobody within five yards.

It's been ridiculous at times.

The touchdown right before the half, wide open

in the back of the end zone.

That's been the most concerning part to me

out of anything.

We keep rolling.

Second and 12, good jump off the edge.

Another little screen play.

Flats are wide open again.

You may want to cover the flats.

I'm just throwing that out there.

You may want to cover the left flats

there.

Sheesh.

Hooker looks like dealing with a little bit

of an injury.

Not great for a secondary that's already been

very questionable this evening.

Defense is a hard watch, man.

Third and five here.

Big stop.

You really want to hold them to a

field goal.

Oh, man.

No.

No, you got to be kidding me.

The left flats again.

What are we doing?

The same side.

They go to the same side every time.

We got the flats open on the near

side of the field every single time.

What are we doing?

Well, I mean, just given that to them

all day long, I can't even believe it.

Absolutely ridiculous, man.

It's open three plays in a row.

They deserve every bit of that, man.

Just so much cushion.

No clue what we're doing there defensively.

That's so frustrating, man, but just very typical

of just a prototype of what we've been

experiencing tonight.

It is a great example.

Wide open players, room to run.

You get a touchdown and you get a

touchdown and you get a touchdown.

Dak never seems to get over the turnovers,

Omar says, in bad situations.

Defense has zero chemistry, but it's week one,

right?

It's week one.

I'm sorry.

When you play the New York football giants,

you play a rival week one.

You got to show up, man.

I'm not even going there with any of

that week one BS.

I'm not doing it.

We've seen how this plays out, man.

We've seen how this plays.

You say it's just week one.

We were all saying this last year.

It's week one.

Eberflus.

Give him time to adjust.

I was saying it.

Not doing it this year.

This defense was too bad last year.

They were too horrible last year to try

and have a bunch of patients while we

get run out of town by the giants.

No, thank you.

Cowboys have had the ball four times.

Straight domination.

Embarrassing.

Comment from TikTok there.

We were supposed to be a different team.

David says, I see nothing different.

Exactly.

Comment from YouTube here.

Division game.

That's why I mean no week one BS,

man.

There are teams around the National Football League

playing good defense this week.

I'm sorry.

It's not even like, hey, they're just beating

you, making the great plays, the want it

more plays, and we're giving them five yards

of cushion.

It's ridiculous.

Absolutely ridiculous.

Look, Jaxson Dart, he is at his way

with this brand new Cowboys defense.

Look, as of the start of the show,

I think he might be over 200 yards

by now, but three touchdowns, no picks.

He's got about 60 yards with his legs

and Jaxson Dart is doing whatever.

Defense was supposed to be like the biggest

off-season project, right?

You locked up Quinnen Williams.

You got Christian Parker involved.

You drafted Caleb Downs.

You signed Von Miller.

A lot changed through the first three plus

quarters.

Nearly four giants are averaging over six yards

of play.

And I mean, that is after Dallas explicitly

entered the season selling a major defensive overhaul

after historically bad 2025 results.

And I'm talking historically bad last year.

I think that is what gets you the

most out of everything else is it was

so bad last year.

You spent so much time on it this

year.

And then you come out like this.

Now, is there time to turn it around?

Sure.

It's week one.

We get that.

We know what the calendar says.

We understand it's the first game.

Nevertheless, man, there were some teams around the

league that played good football today.

It's possible.

I'm not trying to give the Cowboys a

free pass for the play defensively.

Look, maybe, you know, some of those points,

you think about the Dak interception right before

halftime.

But, you know, you don't have to let

the Giants March 50 yards in 30 seconds

like they did after that Dak interception.

It's a terrible interception by Dak.

He deserves blame for it.

I mean, that was like a 21 point

swing, right?

Cowboys could have scored, could have gone up

in the game.

Instead, you went down seven and you allowed

the Giants to score coming out of the

half.

Little drop fumble.

Looks like they're calling it a drop here.

That would have just been the icing on

the cake there.

Oh, goodness.

Not one defense showed up today.

Average 50 points a game today.

Come on now.

I mean, we're not going to think about

the Bears scoring 57 as skewing that total.

Come on, dude.

I mean, look around at some of the

scores.

You've got teams giving up less than two

touchdowns today.

I don't know what to tell you.

We're using the average amount of points scored

today in a day where the Bears dropped

57.

I mean, those are skewed numbers 100%.

I don't even buy that for a minute.

That's what we're talking about, man.

You cannot make excuses.

The defense was terrible last year.

You worked on it all off season.

You brought in Christian Parker and this is

an embarrassing way to start the year.

It's an embarrassing way to start the year.

It doesn't matter.

The NFL record, we're talking about, hey, the

offenses, there's so many points scored today.

I mean, yeah, sure, but look at some

of the other numbers around the league.

I mean, we can go to the scores.

You had the Titans scoring 10 today.

So you had the Jets holding the Titans

to 10.

You had the Falcons getting held to 13.

You had the Browns 10.

You had the Dolphins 13.

Packers got held to 22.

Chargers got held to 14.

Commanders got held to 22.

And we can go on and on.

There are a number of teams today that

did a better job defensively than the Cowboys

did.

I mean, look, yes, offense is at an

all-time high.

We understand it.

It doesn't excuse the Cowboys.

That's just where I draw the line.

It feels so weak to do that.

Well, offenses that are at an all-time

high.

So totally cool that we give up this

many, 28 week one to the Giants.

I know they've got a new look with

Harbaugh.

I totally get it, but it doesn't feel

right.

Doesn't sit well.

That's it.

Hey, so one thing that I would just

say is if you're good, if you're good

with this week, explain why.

Give me the glass half full instead of,

and there's a couple of people like pushing

back on this a little bit.

Well, don't just push back.

Like actually give some logical reasoning here.

So besides the fact that it's week one,

besides the fact that offenses are at an

all-time high, by the way, if offenses

are so good, why have we only scored

14?

Like give me an actual substance reason here.

I mean, we can push back all day

long.

No dude, that's not right.

I mean, I can say that too.

Give an actual reason though, why this is

okay tonight.

Just because the offense around the league is

up.

That's the reason?

What?

That doesn't even make any sense, bro.

Doesn't even make any sense.

Hey, this Cowboys defensive effort is fine because

offense is up around the league in general.

You just can't win with some people.

You can't.

You can't win.

There's always going to be somebody trying to

make an excuse.

I'm not making any.

You can have fun with that.

And there's a number of people trying to

say it's early.

The offenses are up around the league.

Whatever, man.

I've already seen it.

Not doing it.

People did it last year with Eberflus in

his first year.

Look how that turned out.

Look how that turned out.

Justin, I'm with you on this.

The penalties, the penalties, man.

That's, I think, what gets me.

It was just undisciplined early.

And the players are on the field.

I'm not really a big fan of you're

only giving crap to the coaches.

These players are the ones in between the

white lines here.

But nevertheless, and when you're undisciplined with the

penalties, and look, the Giants do have more

penalties than the Cowboys tonight, seven to eight.

It's pretty close, but seven to eight.

The first half penalties though, that was the

painful part.

Cowboys offense, 190 yards tonight.

They're about to tack on a little bit

here.

It could get interesting.

There's no doubt it could get interesting.

Pickens having a quiet night.

Ka-chow from YouTube.

Yeah, I think Pickens, couple of drops are

definitely going to be the reason why the

night's quiet.

I mean, he could have had a lot

more yardage, maybe a touchdown.

Dak, by the way, he's zinging it mingo

with the catch.

And that one's going to be into Giants

territory.

Mingo, first or first or second catch of

the ball game.

Dak has spread it out a little bit

tonight.

You've got, it looks like nine different players

with receptions.

First and 10, less than six minutes left

counting.

Dak in the shotgun.

He's going deep.

I'm surprised they didn't throw anything on that.

Really surprised they didn't throw anything on that.

I mean, and not necessarily because it was

a penalty, just because they've been calling PI

all night long.

We'll have to watch and see.

Pickens and a bit of a one-on

-one here.

A lot of hand fighting.

It's close.

A lot of hand fighting there.

I don't know if that's a penalty.

I'm not sure that's a penalty.

That's a tough one.

Not as blatant as some of the other

ones, one direction or the other.

All right.

Second and 10.

Cowboys down to trying to mount a comeback

here.

Make it interesting.

Dak going deep.

He wants it.

He's got a man.

That almost went right into the hands of

the Giants secondary, man.

CeeDee was there.

Dak was a little bit pressured, but man,

CeeDee had a few steps.

If Dak would have just thrown that down

the seam, a little more down the seam,

that would have been six.

Dak just threw it a little too far

to the outside, man.

If you just throw that a little closer

to the seam.

Missed opportunities tonight.

Missed opportunities, man.

Third and 10, play clock ticking down.

I'm shocked they didn't get delay of game

there, but Dak's going to complete this one

up the sideline.

Oh, a little, a little after the play

antics there, man.

Yeah.

A little after the catch antics there for

Norway, he goes for about 20 yards there.

There's a flag after the play.

He got slammed down after stepping out of

bounds.

You wonder if that has something to do

with it.

Yep.

Personal foul.

That's going to put the Cowboys in business

here.

The defense is going to have a shot.

Like they're going to have a shot to

redeem themselves.

The offense, same thing.

The offense hasn't been much tonight.

Look, I've been impressed with Javonte.

Javonte, I feel like has ran the ball

hard today.

12 carries 41 yards.

Y'all honestly, it hasn't been very balanced.

I know that they have been down in

this ball game.

And so maybe that has necessitated more passing,

but at the end of the day, 33

throws, and there's about to be 34 here.

Touchdown should be six right on cue.

Javonte baby.

He's having himself a day.

Javonte with his fifth reception of the ball

game.

That's going to put him up over 30

yards.

Javonte second touchdown.

He's had a great game.

I mean, he is probably player of the

game for me offensively.

He has run the ball hard today.

He's done some work out of the backfield

too.

Here we go.

Javonte definitely letting them know on the way

in.

Let's see what they're doing here.

They're giving it a taunting penalty to Williams

here.

Look, this is chippy.

I know the NFL is trying to crack

down on this kind of stuff.

This is just weak, man.

I get it's not worth, I mean, I

definitely get it's not worth it.

You know, the rules, the rules are the

rules.

I do have to say just a commentary

on the rule in general.

It's weak, man.

It's totally weak.

Chris Collins, where it's completely on the, come

on now.

Why do we have to get so moralistic

with this, man?

That's really not that big of a deal.

Having some fun.

I'm not a big fan of the lack

of trash talk that is allowed on the

field, man.

It's football.

If you played the game, you know, there's

to me, that could be a lot worse,

a lot worse.

Brandon Aubrey misses a PAT.

Meanwhile, she's not our night.

It is just not our night tonight.

If you know what, what's crazy is we

got a shot.

If we stop the giants, you know, now

you got to get a two point conversion.

Brandon Aubrey, not able to put it through.

So that made it a 48 yarder.

Come on, Aubrey.

We got to hit that baby.

One of the highest paid kickers in the

game.

I know it's Javonte because Javonte gets the

penalty.

Brandon Aubrey's got to hit a 48 yarder,

man.

You getting paid big money for a reason,

baby.

This is going to be hard.

This is going to be tough, man.

28-20.

And by the way, we have got about

five and a half left on the clock.

There's forever in a day.

You got so much ball game left here.

Cowboys have a shot.

All right, let's get into a little recap

here.

We have got a really interesting game at

this point.

If the Cowboys can make a stop, but

at times it's been ugly.

Cowboys got down by a couple of scores.

We'll see if they have a little bit

of late magic, but Jaxson Dart tonight, we've

already talked a little bit about him.

58 yards on the ground, 213 through the

air, three touchdowns, no interceptions, a rating of

139.3. Dart has been money, man.

And the yards on the ground have really

been the killer.

That was going to be a stress point

going into this week.

Everybody knew that, right?

Dallas' coverage tonight entering the game centered on

Christian Parker's defense needing to contain Dart's mobility.

You came into this game knowing you were

going to have to contain Dart, knowing that

a quarterback like him, a young quarterback, is

going to get out of the pocket and

is not going to stick around in there

long and start using the legs.

Dallas built this defense to make life harder

on quarterbacks like Jaxson Dart, and really the

exact opposite has happened.

You built this defense, good contain, not letting

guys get outside, creating pressure on the quarterback,

making them have to think really, really quickly.

Just hasn't happened.

Isaiah Likely, he has really punished the Cowboys

today.

Six catches, 61 yards, two touchdowns.

Likely switching teams and having a good time

doing it and punishing the Cowboys in the

process.

Both touchdown catches came in the middle of

this one.

You had the one right before the half,

right?

And there's so many open receivers in the

secondary this evening, it's hard to count how

many, to be completely honest.

It's probably bordering double-digit amount that you've

got a receiver running pretty much free.

It might be more than that.

This to me is a big disappointment for

this defense, but the beautiful thing about this

game is if you make a stop here

and the offense can come down and score,

it's a brand new ballgame.

Let's see if they can do it.

First and 10, Skattebo in the backfield, Dart

in the gun.

5-16 left on the clock.

Skattebo up the middle.

He's going to get maybe a yard, maybe

yard and a half if they're being generous

with the spot.

Skattebo has had a pretty decent day.

15 carries for 60 yards, averaging roughly about

four yards a carry.

Not bad.

Skattebo coming off a pretty major injury and

he's looked good early on here.

Quinnen Williams, he's been able to make his

presence known multiple different times.

He had the nice force fumble.

You've got, by the way, Jalen Thompson and

you've got Ezeiruaku leading the team with tackles.

Ezeiruaku has a half sack.

Caleb Downs has a sack in this one.

Dart, it looks like this one's going to

be incomplete.

I wondered if they were maybe going to

get a little PI, but I think that

you had just a simple trip up of

the legs.

So 39.

To me, I know that there is more

game left, whether this goes the Cowboys way

or not, but this feels like the turning

point in the game right here.

You get off the field right here, you

let Dallas, you let Dak, you let Lamb

and Pickens start cooking.

Make him get rid of the ball, man.

Make him get rid of this ball early.

Let's go.

Cowboys showing a little pressure.

Let's see.

They're going to rush.

They're bringing it, man.

There's way too much time.

Just way too much time.

Credit to the Giants O-line, man.

They brought, I think, five or six there.

Dart still had way too much time.

Not a great rush by the Cowboys.

First down.

It's stuff like that.

You had your opportunity.

Dart standing back there confidently delivering a great

ball.

It's been that kind of night.

41-yard line of the Giants.

353 and ticking down.

Giants in the I-form.

They're going to hand it off here to

Scadaboo.

Scadaboo in the backfield.

He's going to lose a yard.

Cowboys with two timeouts left, and you've got

the two-minute warning.

Dak looking on.

You definitely have to watch Dart here.

He's been burning the Cowboys defense all night

long.

I look for the Giants to draw something

up.

Maybe a little RPO option here.

They have been burning this Dallas defense all

night with Dart's legs.

I got to think it's going to come

into play at some point here.

See how the Cowboys handle it.

Bringing some pressure, at least showing some pressure

here.

Maybe a little false start.

Looks like it is going to be a

false start by the Giants, and that is

going to help out Dallas for sure.

It'll be second and 16.

Look at how many gifts you're getting on

this drive right now.

You're getting a number of gifts, a number

of fortuitous situations, and you got to take

advantage.

Have to take advantage.

Pinhead was good.

Comment from YouTube, crazy that Obershone already gets

hurt just like every injury-prone guy on

the Rangers.

I know, there's so many similarities.

I was thinking tonight, Scadaboo, big run up

the middle here.

That's going to be close to a first

down.

What are we doing, guys?

It'll be third and three.

I see so many comparisons.

The halftime right before half, that was classic

Rangers stuff.

You have an opportunity to go ahead.

You have a big scoring chance.

Instead, you go down quietly.

Dak throws the interception, and then the Giants

immediately make you pay.

It happens in Texas Rangers baseball like clockwork.

Base is loaded, strike three.

Very next inning, the opponent comes back and

scores two or three.

It is like clockwork, man.

Third and three, big play here.

That is going to be another conversion.

It is likely, again, likely just torching this

Cowboys secondary.

Dallas is going to burn their second timeout.

You had multiple third downs.

This defense just cannot get off the field.

They cannot get off the field.

Let's see what the Cowboys were doing here.

It looks like they are, for the most

part, playing straight up.

You had a single high there, and it's

just a good throw and catch, man.

That was a tight window.

Dart's been making the plays today.

Look, obviously, likely got a step, but nevertheless,

it's a good throw and catch.

Here we go.

You've got one timeout left.

You've got the two-minute warning.

You figure Cowboys will have a little over

a minute with no timeouts if they can

get off the field here.

That's how this would work.

That's a big if, though, by the way.

A humongous if.

Eye formation for the Giants.

Little play action.

Here comes Dart with the run.

They covered it well, but they're going to

get a face mask here, and that is

probably going to do it, y'all.

That is going to get the job done.

Man, Ezeiruaku covered that so well, and he

just could not keep that hand down.

I told y'all that Dart run was

coming at some point.

Ezeiruaku just could not keep his hand out

of the cookie jar there, and that might

just about do it.

You got a 15-yard penalty getting tacked

on here.

Giants infield goal range.

Just a terrible, terrible first game for Dallas.

2.03 left.

You got a first and 10.

The issue, the clock is stopped, but the

issue is field goal range.

Giants, tonight, you've had a field goal kicker.

Looks like 4 for 4 on the extra

points.

Hasn't kicked a field goal quite yet.

Skattebo off the edge.

Gets about 3 or 4, and that's going

to take us to the two-minute warning.

Yeah, Downs was coming in on that last

one.

Comment from YouTube here.

Yeah, Downs definitely had that covered, I think.

If Ezeiruaku doesn't slow him down, I think

Downs probably gets him for maybe a 1

or 2-yard gain.

Look, I get Ezeiruaku.

You're trying to just slow him down a

little bit, and then you got 10 more

hats coming to the football.

That's the idea, right?

But just could not keep his hand off

the face mask.

Two minutes.

John Harbaugh working miracles.

Yeah, comment from TikTok there.

I had a feeling Harbaugh would make a

difference pretty immediately.

I'm not saying he's the best coach ever,

but I just had a feeling Harbaugh would

probably make an impact right away.

I'm not saying that it's not going to

even out.

I think it probably will.

Jelopan, appreciate the gifts.

Thank you so much.

Yeah, it's definitely first game in looking pretty

good for the New York Giants.

We'll see how the rest of the season

plays itself out.

I do have to also go to the

offense here.

I know we've been talking a lot about

the defense, but this offense left itself basically

no margin.

Dak has not been incredible tonight.

He's 22 of 34, 175, two touchdowns,

one interception.

Just hasn't been sharp tonight.

CeeDee Lamb, he's 5 for 44, touchdown.

George Pickens, 3 for 28.

That's probably the big one that you circle.

Dallas, as a team, you're talking about, at

this point, 244 total yards of offense.

That's just not going to do it.

That's not.

That's not going to work.

Not with the defense that you have right

now.

Maybe this defense does pick up.

I would expect that they do get better.

It's just disappointing to come out this poor.

I do think if you're going glass half

-full, which I like to do, I definitely

don't think this looks good.

Don't get me wrong, but you do have

a lot of things not going great.

Yet, the Cowboys, up until really that last

couple of plays there, they had a chance

to at least tie the ball game.

That is the bright side.

Third down efficiency is wild, though.

This is the number that you're going to

have to circle.

If you want a reason, a concrete reason

why the Cowboys lost tonight, New York was

9 for 10 on third down.

You're just not going to win a lot

of football games when the opponent is 9

for 10 on third down.

Skattebo going to ice this one.

Good night.

Good night.

That'll do it.

Cowboys are going to drop this one by

a score of 28 to 20.

Cowboys are going to call the final timeout.

It doesn't matter.

It doesn't matter, man.

Little motion play.

This was nice from New York.

It was.

He had a pulling guard that just totally

unlocked that play.

That pulling guard was huge.

Great play design.

Got to respect it.

That guard was a stampede as well.

Skattebo just went right behind him.

Jameis Winston getting a lot of air time

tonight, isn't he?

Oh, goodness.

Depressing.

Depressing, man.

Here's the knee, and that's just about going

to do it.

We got a lot coming here in the

postgame.

Let me know how you're feeling.

Let me know your main takeaways from the

game.

Pete, what's a good comment?

Jerry sucks at hiring coaches.

Look, I'm actually, I think I'm a fan

of Shotty.

Christian Parker is a bit of a question

mark at this point.

I know he was held in high regard,

but we know how that goes.

That doesn't always mean anything.

Christian Parker, definitely a trendy name.

That doesn't necessarily mean a whole lot.

Park's got a while, though, to prove himself

here.

It is just an embarrassing week one defeat

for the Cowboys.

They were not prepared.

They did not play sharp.

They did not execute.

9-for-11 on third down, and the

only reason they're 9-for-11 is because

they have to, they're kneeing it right now.

Before the kneel down, they were 9-for

-10, the Giants were on third down.

That is embarrassing.

That's the defensive embarrassment right there.

9-for-10.

You could only stop them one time on

third down.

You got to be kidding me.

Jake, totally disagree, my guy.

The offense has not been great, man.

I don't know.

I don't know how you just put it

all on the defense here.

Come on now.

I know the defense is going to be

the low hanging fruit tonight, and they weren't

good, but do we have to pretend like

the offense helped out the interception right before

halftime?

The multiple drive stalls, this team did not

play well on either side of the ball.

Did they get some, I would say, garbage

points, some garbage yards at the end?

Yes.

Down two scores late, the Giants played a

little soft, and the offense looks a little

bit better numbers-wise, but please don't pretend

like this offense was sharp tonight.

Come on now.

Please.

Jake, this doesn't matter.

It doesn't matter that they scored the two

times that they had the ball.

Pay attention to what they did in the

first half that put them in a hole.

The second time they scored, again, let me

just continue to make the point.

You're playing prevent if you're the Giants.

You're allowing underneath passes.

I don't know how we're gassing up the

Cowboys' last touchdown.

It's total prevent defense, man.

They were giving them literally everything underneath.

I don't know how you sit here and

praise this offense or act like they weren't

a problem tonight.

They 100% were a part of the

problem tonight.

The defense was a bigger problem, but the

offense was a problem tonight.

Defense put them in the hole, I guess,

but what do you call Dak throwing the

interception right before half?

If Dak doesn't throw that interception before the

half and they score, you're up going into

halftime.

Again, we're talking about defense putting them in

the hole.

How is that not putting the Cowboys in

the hole?

I mean, look, no real facet of the

game tonight was sharp.

The special teams, you had Aubrey missing a

PAT.

Granted, I know it was a 48-yarder.

Aubrey can hit a 48-yarder, man.

Offense, again, left something to be desired.

You had Dak at a buck 25, a

buck 30 in the fourth quarter before he

goes off there.

I forget what the number was when I

was getting ready for the live.

It was not great.

No side of the ball.

Offense, defense, special teams, I can't say I

appreciated really any effort from either team, from

either side.

I think that you've got Javonte Williams, you

could maybe say offensively had a pretty good

game.

Javonte is the one that stands out to

me.

12 for 41.

You had Javonte also catching five through the

air and he scored on a 17-yard

touchdown.

Javonte to me is maybe the one redeeming

quality for the offense.

Everybody else did not play up to standard.

Javonte, by the way, I feel like should

have gotten involved a lot more.

It's going to go down and a little

bit of it is game script, but 34

passes, 18 rushes.

Into the fourth quarter, it was still more

pass than rush.

Cowboys, I think, went away from the run

a little bit too quickly.

I know they've got all the toys in

the passing game.

They've got CeeDee, they've got Pickens, they've got

a lot of toys in the passing game.

I really think you abandoned the run a

little bit.

You definitely could have ran Javonte a little

bit more.

Only 12 carries for him.

I know they got down.

I know they got down, but nevertheless, would

have liked to have seen us have a

little bit more of a balanced attack.

You're talking about two-thirds of your plays

being passes tonight.

Yeah, that is because you go down two

touchdowns, but felt like they were going away

from the run even when the game was

a little bit tighter.

I would like to see Cowboys feed Javonte

a little bit more.

He was running hard tonight.

He really was.

Defense was not good.

I am with you on this.

Niners was good.

Hope you're having a good weekend, buddy.

Yeah, I think Likely is going to

be the big story for the Giants.

I mean, he could not be stopped.

Big third down catches back to back to

back.

Hydro, what's good?

Comment from YouTube here.

This was unfortunately a preseason game for most

of our starters.

I could smell this trap game from a

mile away.

That is the thing when you're not playing

your starters in the preseason, there is some

rust.

There is some rust potential, and that's kind

of where we're at right now.

Cowboys just looked rusty today.

I don't think there's any better way to

put it.

Just looked rusty today.

We keep rolling.

Jose, I'm with you on this.

Comment is offense and defense both didn't have

a good game.

That's a fair assessment, man.

Neither side of the ball, even Aubrey was

off.

I know Javonte didn't help him out making

that a 48 yard extra point, but nevertheless,

nevertheless, man, man, you feel like at least,

I guess the bright side is you can

only go up from here.

Not a great week one at all.

Drop a comment, drop a question.

Cowboys lose 28, 20, a 44 SFG.

What's good?

Cowboys need DBs is the comment from TikTok.

I mean, they tried to get some, you

tried to go out and draft downs, downs

tonight.

If you're interested in the debut, he had

on the defensive side, eight tackles, one sack,

one quarterback hit, obviously in his debut for

solo tackles.

Definitely not, not a terrible debut by any

stretch of the imagination for Caleb downs, definitely

active flying to the ball.

That's good to see, but you feel like

you need another one of those Caleb downs.

Like I feel like we definitely need a

couple more of those guys.

Downs is a safety.

Sure.

But safeties are considered defensive backs, man.

What are we doing here?

A safety is a defensive back.

A cornerback is a defensive back.

Why am I teaching this?

All right.

Don't know what happened to Dart, but he's

not scrambling.

He's standing in that pocket.

Yeah.

Dart tonight got way too elusive.

He was out and running a ton and

credit to the giants for utilizing the wheels,

man.

He was running all over Dallas tonight.

Same old Cowboys, different year.

Yup.

Absolutely.

That was embarrassing.

I feel that.

And I know some people are going to

say it's week one and that there were

some teams around the league.

I said this at the beginning of the

show, plenty of teams around the league played

some good football this weekend.

Nacho says a YouTube comment here.

I miss Clowney.

Clowney.

He was good last year.

Wasn't he?

It's unfortunate.

The Cowboys weren't able to work something out

with Clowney.

I definitely feel like his presence was missed

tonight.

He had some big plays for us down

the stretch in 2025.

They are definitely figuring out some things.

That's for sure.

You've got a lot of good talent up

on that line.

Felt like they ran a little bit too

wild tonight though.

You have Williams, you have Clark Clark tonight.

He was two tackles, two solos Williams.

I know he's getting double teamed.

I know that Williams was a big point

of emphasis for the giants offensive line.

Williams for a forced fumble though.

That definitely was huge.

You just did not have enough pressure on

dart.

That's what I walk away feeling more than

anything.

Like on that third downplay, you're bringing like,

what was it?

Did they bring five or six on that

third and nine?

It's like 39.

I feel like they brought six.

You had five in coverage.

You brought six and you still couldn't get

pressure on him.

44, uh, SF says should have tried harder

on getting Crosby.

That would have been interesting.

I wonder what was the, what was the

ask?

Was there any rumored ask for Crosby?

Did they come out?

Did anybody come out with legitimate sourcing on

that?

What was the ask for Crosby?

Did we ever figure that out?

We got tick-tock comment here.

People, this is only game one.

It's early in the season, everyone.

I'm not even mad.

I mean, to be fair, we said that

early on last year and we see how

that went.

I am never a fan of excusing a

loss with it's early.

I'm not a fan of doing that in

any sport a it's especially in a, in

a sport like this, man, you don't have

162 games.

You've got 15 more.

I mean, I don't know.

You've got, uh, a limited amount of time.

Excuse me.

You got 16 more games.

Like for me, I'm not sitting around here

excusing early losses.

They count all the same.

A loss in week one counts the same

as a, as a loss late in the

season.

Uh, I, I agree with this, uh, AZ

what's good.

If you're good, you step on their neck

right away.

Yeah.

Again, there are teams that came out looking

like good football teams today.

That, that is what I keep going back

to.

I know I sound like a broken record,

but there are teams around the league that

played good football today.

It's possible.

So don't make the excuse.

Like week one is some impossible feet here.

You can play good football in week one.

A loss right now counts the same as

a loss in week 17.

Not trying to sit here and excuse it.

Fire Christian Parker.

We're already getting that bandwagon started.

I see fire Christian Parker that did not

take long.

Oh gosh.

That is hilarious.

I kind of wondered earlier today when I

was, uh, when I was, you know, going

through the very first quarter, you know, I'll

do notes and stuff like that as the

game.

And I did wonder, man, how long is

it going to take to see a fire

Christian Parker comment?

Sure enough.

Fire GM, Jerry.

Well, I mean, that's, that's nothing new there.

That is nothing new.

Lack of discipline.

Chris says a YouTube comment here.

I agree that you wait too many penalties

early on way too many penalties comment here

from YouTube.

I don't think that the giants are good.

I think we just suck.

I don't think the giants are a great

football team either.

I think they've obviously got some potential.

They've got some good young talent, but yeah,

I don't think the giants are a juggernaut.

I think the Cowboys will beat the giants

at home later on this year.

I would be surprised if they don't, it's

going to be interesting what the Cowboys do

road versus home this year.

That to me is something I'm going to

be looking out for in the coming weeks.

Yeah.

I think giants probably are going to be

right around 500.

I don't see them as a big time

losing ball club this year.

I also don't see them dominating the league.

We'll talk about next week here in just

a little bit.

AC don't even care about bias, man.

I don't even know why you've wasted the

time typing that.

Uh, look, I'm not, uh, not media here,

buddy.

I'm not old school media.

Of course, there's a little bit of bias.

What are, what are we thinking here?

Come on now, man.

Uh, we are going to keep on rolling.

We've got a number of different things to

go through in this game.

You definitely were not sharp on either side

of the football, but let's, let's roll through

as much as we possibly can.

Dallas, by the way, if you're just joining

us, 28, 20 first real test of Christian

Parker's rebuilt defense was a bad one.

I might be putting it lightly there.

Jaxson Dart three touchdowns, no interceptions, 56 yards

with his leg looked comfortable, looked way too

comfy back there.

Could have sat down in a lawn chair,

chilled out with a cold beverage man with

how much time he had on a number

of different third down plays.

Isaiah likely was great.

He hurt Dallas eight catches, 78 yards, two

tutties camp scataboo 81 year rushing yards in

a score.

This, this wasn't really like one big busted

play deciding the game.

New York just kind of methodically moved the

football tonight.

And that I think also contributed.

You had a lot of clock wasted by

the Giants offense.

You had the defense out on the field

a ton.

It was just not ideal in a number

of different ways.

Dallas did fight back.

It cut 21, seven to 21, 14 after

New York answered to make it 28, 14

Dak found Javonte Williams for a late touchdown.

You had Javonte taunting Aubrey misses the extra

point from 48.

And then you never got that stop, right?

You had a third and nine, you had

a third and four, you had numerous opportunities

in that last drive to get off the

field and you just couldn't do it.

Kind of a fitting ending.

I would have loved to have seen the

Cowboys with the ball and an opportunity, but

kind of a fitting ending.

If we're being honest, Jaxson Dart way too

comfortable.

The pass rush just wasn't there tonight on

that third and nine that I was just

referencing again.

I mean, dude had so much time back

there, even rushing five or six, you know,

you can survive a young quarterback making a

few plays, but you can't let a young

quarterback like dart, just get comfortable back there

and control the entire feel of the game.

And that is what happened tonight.

You just didn't rattle him.

He wasn't rattled back there.

He knew that the Cowboys weren't getting a

lot of push.

And that I think was a big reason

the Giants had so much success when they

had the football dart was totally cool, calm

and collected.

You did not get enough pressure defense.

That's that's gotta be along with controlling the

running game at 165 yards on the ground

by the Giants today for a team that

is building its identity around, you know, Quinn

and Williams.

And obviously you traded for Kenny Clark in

the Parsons trade last year for a team

that's really tried to commit itself to the

running game and fixing the issue that's been

opposing offenses running all over us.

Wasn't a great start tonight.

Skattebo dart combined for 135 yards on the

ground.

Yeah.

Drew with you on this YouTube comment here.

Problem was the Cowboys should have started the

first team.

The last preseason game we came out cold.

I agree.

I, I don't know at what point it

was decided that you shouldn't play any starters,

any preseason, but man, it feels like a

series or two here or there would have

been nice.

Really would have been nice.

Comment here from tick tock.

Shane says, one thing nobody's talking about is

the will to win.

Cowboys just didn't have it.

You know, it's tough.

I always try and be careful with, you

know, the mental, with the will, the, the

willpower, you know, who knows exactly what's going

on through these players' minds, but it just

wasn't good enough.

You didn't execute tonight.

You did not execute tonight.

No excuses, Chris.

I think the hindsight is man, maybe you

should have done that.

It's no excuse for the team losing.

We're just talking about, you know, the whole

idea of the first game being a little

rusty, man.

Like seriously, I don't really understand why you

would make a lot of excuses for tonight's

ball game.

Cowboys just didn't bring it.

They just weren't good tonight.

We keep on rolling is overshown.

Good.

Like when he stays healthy.

Yeah.

But overshown just having some issues, man, staying

on the field, overshown with seven tackles tonight.

Cowboys, I think are definitely going to look

back on this one.

You know, these are the games where you're

late in the season and you're out of

the playoff picture by one game and you're

looking at this Giants game and you're just

like, okay, wish we would've had that one.

But Hey, everybody, you know, not everybody, but

you got a number of fans just week

one is just week one.

No, thank you.

What did I think of Parker's defense tonight?

They sure appreciate it and enjoyed making Jackson

Dart, feel comfy back there in week one.

And man, they let those receivers run wild.

You had so many open receivers, so many

open receivers.

I felt like close to 10 times.

You had nobody within five yards that touchdown,

especially right before the half.

All right, let's keep rolling.

We're going to start looking to next week

a little bit here.

Keep the comments rolling in.

We have, first of all, a couple of

different disappearances.

And I do think that you have George

Pickens, probably number one, George Pickens.

He spent a lot of the off season.

We really did imagining what he could do

opposite of CeeDee and three catches, 28 yards,

probably not the vision that we all expected.

Nine penalties for 90 yards.

You had the discipline disappeared tonight.

You're not going to win a lot of

games when early on that was kind of

the killer, right?

Early on, this is what's happening to you.

This is what's going on.

One thing I think you could live with,

but when you have this many penalties early

on, just undisciplined giants, I think definitely won

the line of scrimmage field.

You had New York running at 37 times

to Dallas is 18.

It doesn't automatically mean that you have to

flip the offense next week, but it just

tells you what the game felt like.

New York was controlling possession.

They stayed on schedule and kept Dallas reacting.

That's the kind of football I would have

liked to see the Cowboys play tonight.

Give the ball to Javonte.

Let's run the football a little bit and

let's control this ball game.

Let the defense have a little bit of

an opportunity to rest here and there.

Defense was just on the field way too

much.

And look, in regards to the comeback, I

mean, they fought, I'll give them that, but

week one is, you know, not graded on

whether you made a bad game, look respectable.

This was not a great game down 28,

14.

It gets a little closer.

You had an opportunity, but overall not as

close as what the score says.

Hooker broken wrist, my goodness.

Parker, I'm with you on this TikTok comment.

Give the Giants credit for coming prepared against

the Cowboys.

Cowboys news roster polls here.

Tyler Smith absence was felt.

You had Tyler Smith, Tyler Smith, by the

way, if you did not hear injured in

the preseason, what just about a week ago,

offensive line had to reshuffle with TJ Bass

stepping into a major role.

That does matter a little bit when you

evaluate the lack of offensive rhythm.

Tyler Smith is a big part of the

offensive line.

Malik Davis headed the season ending IR after

the hip injury and surgery that pushed a

lot more responsibility onto Javonte Williams immediately.

Williams, he really ended up being one of

Dallas's few pieces tonight.

Malik Nabers looked good.

I would say for the Giants in his

return, man, the ACL looking great.

He was running all over the field.

Cowboys have got to figure out an answer

for some of the team's top receivers on

the other side.

We had downs with, I think, a decent

debut, but man, DaRon Bland, he had eight

tackles tonight too.

One pass deflection, two pass deflections, Overton and

Durant.

That was it.

Yeah, Ruben, you had a ton of blown

coverage just today.

TikTok comment, by the way.

Yeah, they didn't make it hard enough.

The whole secondary really did not make it

hard enough tonight.

All right, looking ahead to next week, Washington

comes to Arlington.

They lost today, 24 to 22 at Philly.

Jayden Daniels was 18 of 34 for 164

yards, two fourth quarter touchdowns.

Washington nearly completed the comeback.

This is, you know, why tonight's defensive problem

has a direct sequel.

You struggled with darts mobility, right?

And now you have Jayden Daniels coming to

town.

You know, the thing Dallas failed to solve

tonight is coming right back at them in

a different uniform next Sunday.

You've got to figure out a way to

contain these mobile quarterbacks.

And I think tonight darts, first of all,

just ability to move around with his legs,

extend plays was huge, but also the time

he got back there with Jayden Daniels.

I think it's a similar approach.

The defense has to figure out a way

to get these guys uncomfortable.

These young quarterbacks uncomfortable.

Sports reporters, CSS told you sports reporters were

putting high expectations, didn't fall for it.

They were getting hyped up a little bit,

weren't they?

All right, overall, let's land this thing.

Here's what tonight told me.

You know, Dallas still has fight.

They still have fight.

They didn't completely fold when this game became

a two score game, 21-7, 28-14,

right?

But I think there are a lot of

question marks about the defensive rebuild and how

far along we actually are in that.

And you just wonder if this team really

does have a high ceiling defensively, or if

it's a little bit lower to the comment

that we just read off than what the

media was selling us coming into this season.

Dart was far too comfortable.

New York controlled way too much of the

game.

Next thing I'm watching, what's Christian Parker going

to do with Jayden Daniels coming to town?

What are we going to see from this

defense next Sunday?

If quarterback movement is still a problem next

week against the commanders, this starts to look

a lot less like just a one-off

bad night and more like a real flaw.

Week one losses matter.

They count the same as a week 17

loss.

Week two losses matter.

They count the exact same as a loss

later in the season.

We cannot fall back on the it's early

excuses right now.

This team is good enough to come out

and play good football.

They've got, let me say on paper, good

enough players to come out and play a

much better football game against a team like

the Giants.

Are they going to the Super Bowl?

Are they making a deep run?

Nobody's going there right now.

But I'll say this for the team that

they have on paper, you would have expected

a better effort tonight.

You would have expected a much better effort

tonight.

Look throughout the week, just so y'all

know, I know a bunch of y'all

have followed while we've been on the live

and I appreciate that.

Thank you for all that have subscribed on

YouTube.

So here are right on Rangers.

I cover the Cowboys.

I cover the Rangers.

I cover the Mavericks and the Texas Longhorns

for college football and college basketball, more so

football than basketball.

So that's all to say, you'll probably see

me popping in on different lives, talking about

some of the different teams.

I will have Cowboys content out this week.

I'll have a few videos out to you

guys.

Appreciate you supporting in whatever way you can

like in those, sharing them with others that

you know are Cowboys diehards, but don't be

surprised if you see some different sports running

through the account, come hang out.

Even if your favorite teams are not the

exact same with or with college football.

I hang out anyways, talk some friendly trash.

It's all part of the fun, but I

do want to say a sincere thank you

to everybody that followed.

We had a good crowd tonight, man, over

a hundred pretty consistently in the tick tock

live.

We had a lot tonight in YouTube and

Facebook, Instagram as well.

Appreciate all you guys, man.

Thank you so much.

Not the result we wanted tonight.

Embarrassing loss, hate losing to the giants, hate

losing to any division rival opponent like this,

but we move on to next week.

It's all you can do.

All you can do baby.

And hopefully next week about this time, we'll

be talking about a Cowboys win getting back

on track.

We will be live next week for the

commander's game.

Look for us beginning of the fourth quarter,

something like that.

And thank you by the way, again, for

the follows.

If you haven't hit that follow button yet,

this is what we do every week.

We talk Cowboys ball.

We talk long horns football, college football Saturday.

We talk Rangers baseball, come hang out, man.

It's a great time.

Appreciate you guys.

We will see y'all in a little

while here, a little later on this week,

not tomorrow because Rangers are off tomorrow, Tuesday,

it'll probably be the next time I hop

on the live.

Hope you guys have a good start to

the week tomorrow, Monday.

Got to get through it.

We'll make it happen.

If I don't see you though until next

weekend, have a great week ahead.

And as I always say to end every

show, God bless and go Cowboys.

Jaxson Dart Carves Up Cowboys' New Defense in Opener
Broadcast by
