Cowboys Waste Their Chance as the NFC East Stumbles

Hi, and welcome to another edition of Right

on Rangers LIVE coming at you fourth quarter

all but over in Green Bay. Dallas trailing

23 to seven. Dak and company turning the

ball over on downs deep in Green Bay

territory.

We're going to bring you the rest of

this one.

It is a very, very disappointing night of

football.

If you're a Dallas Cowboys fan, it is

kind of wild as I think back, just

all of the talk really not even from

Cowboys fans, but the media this year coming

in you had a number of people thinking

Dallas was going to be something really special

this year.

Not sure that I ever really bought into

that didn't think a Super Bowl was ever

a distinct possibility, but I will say I

thought it would be going much better than

this much better than this.

The only thing that's really a silver lining

right now for the Cowboys

is that the rest of this division.

I mean, we talk about the similarities with

the Rangers season.

The only positive is that the NFC East

is so terrible Dallas might be able to

figure out a way it is a bad

NFC East this year.

You've got Giants no QB.

You got the Commanders being the Commanders.

You've got no QB for the Eagles.

You definitely still have a shot.

You still have an opportunity deserve it or

not.

That's about the only solace you take after

a game like this. Defense tonight,

I feel it looks a little better than

what it really was.

Green Bay has dropped the football a lot

tonight and Golden had a drop yet Christian

Watson dropped a touchdown probably should be 30

plus points for the pack.

I mean probably should be 30 plus for

the pack tonight easily.

So I wouldn't say it's a great defensive

effort.

It looks like it just because they only

scored 23 points.

But in my mind, it's not a great

defensive effort tonight for Dallas.

I don't think you can twist it into

a positive for this defensive unit.

Maybe in comparison to what it's been.

I mean, look, there's another drop right there.

Another drop right there.

I mean, the drops tonight for the pack

a bit embarrassing, but you're going to win

the football game.

There have been five plus drops from Green

Bay feels like it feels like at least

five drops probably would have led to big

plays a couple of them.

Dak has been bad tonight.

Look, there's been times where I've defended Dak

Prescott there's just not a lot to defend

tonight.

It has looked ugly.

Dak got bailed out with the roughing the

passer probably should have had an intercept another

interception to his name.

Yeah, I was going to get the ball

back here.

By the way, three minutes ish left on

the clock.

We got two yard return here from Mingo.

And let's see if the Cowboys can make

this score look a little more respectable down

16, three Oh one left in the game.

Look, the defense has for some punts today.

Here's where the game really was lost.

You got third down efficiency for the Packers

11 for 18 plus one for one on

fourth.

So you basically got 12 for 19 on

third and fourth down.

I mean that that is going to win

you a lot of football games going at

that clip on third and fourth down 300

plus yards of offense.

You have the penalty battle pretty even.

This has been a weirdly officiated game.

I definitely think on each side there are

complaints to be had.

Definitely a weirdly officiated game tonight.

Dallas 11 penalties for 108 yards. Green Bay

10 for 89 and Green Bay winning the

turnover battle back with a couple of interceptions.

Almost had another one there.

Dak is just off tonight, man.

It's the decision making.

I mean, it's the throws.

He is just off tonight, man.

There's been so many almost interceptions.

There have been games where I've defended Dak.

You know, the game in Rio comes to

mind the Baltimore game where you had Baltimore

scoring with seven seconds left after the Cowboys

kicked the field goal to tie it up.

He had a pretty good game and you

know, I know some people absolutely criticized him

for not being able to punch it in

the end zone late.

That game you could at least look at

Dak and defend him a little bit more.

Tonight there's really no defense for Dak.

Dak dropping back in the shotgun and it

looks like he is going to have Flournoy

almost a first down there.

Probably one yard short.

It'll be second or third and one here.

Appreciate all you guys hanging out.

I will be checking comments as we go

throughout the show tonight.

We'll be doing the rest of the game.

A little bit of post game show as

well.

We'll talk about everything.

Everything.

We'll hash all this out tonight.

Get this game out of our system.

Look, anything's possible, but I'm not hopeful for

a comeback here with the two-minute warning

upon us and the Cowboys with no timeouts.

We'll talk next week.

You've got Philadelphia, Monday night football.

We'll do a little preview of that before

we get off the show.

Let me go through comments here.

Brian, what's good?

Rough night.

Comment from YouTube.

Dak defender is going to work hard after

this.

You know, I like Dak Prescott.

I am a Dak Prescott fan.

I can't defend him tonight.

I definitely can't defend him tonight.

It has been ugly tonight and it's just

tough with the expectations that were set for

this team and this offense.

Again, I don't think a lot of the

longtime fans, a lot of the diehards.

I don't think anyone that I really talked

to was saying Super Bowl.

I know that the media puts it out

there, but understand the media is trying to

do a job.

They're trying to get clicks, trying to get

people to watch, trying to get engagement.

I don't think any diehard that, that I

know.

And I mean, look, I grew up five

minutes from the stadium.

I know plenty of people in the area.

A lot of my longtime friends, Cowboys fans,

none of them are telling me Super Bowl, but

that is the narrative that did get put

out early on in the season.

You had a lot of positive momentum around

some of the different moves the Cowboys made.

You drafted Caleb Downs.

You extended Quinnen Williams.

You have some emerging players here and there,

but I don't think any of us thought

Super Bowl.

I think you expected them to look a

lot better than what they do tonight.

That is for sure.

The night has looked horrible, horrible Edward.

What's good, man.

Comment is bro.

At least the defense looks better and got

some pressure.

Yeah.

I think that it's a mixed bag for

me with the defense.

They probably should have 30 plus points hung.

If Green Bay didn't have blocks for hands

at multiple points during this game and Green

Bay has dropped multiple, multiple brilliant passes from

Jordan Love, it probably should be, I would

say at minimum 30 to seven, if not

maybe even 33 to seven at this point.

Yeah.

I don't think that I'm sitting here thinking

about how well the defense played tonight.

That's just me.

A nice that they got the turnover winners

with a nice pick, almost had a pick

six, but I don't sit here and think

the defense played amazingly, man.

I think that it's easy for something that's

looked really bad all year long.

When there's a little bit of an improvement,

it feels bigger than what it really is.

This defense is still pretty bad, still pretty

bad defense did enough.

Did they do enough?

Like I said, the defense has gotten a

lot of good fortune tonight.

I can't go there with you guys.

Agree to disagree.

I don't think that the defense tonight has

really been all that great.

Jordan Love.

Honestly.

I mean, he's looked great tonight.

You've had multiple drops.

He had a drop in the end zone.

Christian Watson, that that's nothing.

The defense isn't doing anything there.

They're leaving Christian Watson wide open.

He's just dropping the football again.

This is a lipstick on a pig, man.

I mean, this, this defense is bad and

they got a couple of stops here and

there.

So man, the defense played great, right?

That's not how I'm walking away tonight.

It's not.

I really don't don't feel like that can

be the conclusion coming out of this ball

game, man.

The defense played great.

It's just Dak who's terrible.

I feel like Dak was bad.

Offense was bad.

And then you also had the defense not

really playing that well.

Green Bay blocks for hands on a few

play, helping them out in a big way.

I mean, look, suck out both sides.

Comment from TikTok there that that is

how I feel.

It hasn't been good on either side.

I mean, you had the defense.

There was a third and 13.

They allowed defense could not get off the

field in the first half on third down.

It was embarrassing.

It was a third and 13, right?

Third and 13 was converted.

It's been bad.

Good job.

What's good.

Schotty's calls look scared now.

Last year he would have gone for it

on fourth and seven losses, confidence, good play

calling.

Maybe there might be a little bit to

that.

There might be a little bit to that.

I think Schotty is maybe feeling a little

bit of the pressure right now.

How could you not?

It's not going great.

You're going to be two and four.

How could you not be feeling a little

bit of the pressure right now, man?

Dak going to step up and fire.

Cowboys are actually knocking on the door here.

They're going to need, you know, a two

point actually.

Yeah, you're going to need two two point

conversions and you're going to need an onside

kick.

Good luck.

But the Cowboys might, like I said, make

this a little more respectable here.

We will see.

We shall see.

Uh, TikTok comment here.

Whole season is an embarrassment so far.

I would agree.

I would agree.

It's been a very embarrassing first six games.

You have a couple of wins in there.

Obviously you almost lost to the Texans.

Thank goodness that ended up being a win.

You almost lost to Houston.

I mean, they could easily be like one

and five.

I mean, one in five could be.

Imagine that Texans game going a little bit

differently.

You're one in five.

Oh, it just has not been a good

year.

Really nothing I take away super positive at

this point from this game.

Javonte, I mean, he's a little bit of

a bright spot, a little bit of a

bright spot.

And look, when they've given him the ball,

he's done well, but they've had to go

away from the running game.

Dak's thrown the ball 53 times tonight.

They've rushed at 15.

I think there's an argument to be made.

They probably went away from the run a

little bit too soon, but you get behind

and you start feeling like you got to

throw it.

And here they are.

Dak's going to be close to 55 total

attempts tonight.

And we got to drop Goodson opportunity to

get a touchdown there.

Probably his first of the season.

And he's going to whiff on that one.

Second and goal 52 seconds left.

Yeah.

I mean, Jacob, that is completely where I'm

at with this Golden dropped one in the

end zone.

Defense is still cheeks completely where I'm at.

The defense has gotten lucky tonight.

You've had a lot of drops on the

Green Bay side.

Dak drops back, stumbles a little bit, evades

the pressure, and he is going to find

Flournoy for a touchdown.

Cowboy is not done quite yet.

44 ticks left.

No timeouts.

You're going to need the two point conversion

here.

And you are going to need a little

bit of help on that onside kick, man.

Can't imagine a lot of onside kicks have

been converted very well at this point with

how they have constructed all the rules and

changed it for safety and all that good

stuff.

Oh, shoot.

I got to update the ESPN, don't I?

We got to update that on YouTube, don't

we?

Thought I did that, man.

Going crazy.

Going crazy.

All right, Dak running around penalty incomplete.

We'll see what the is here.

Holding on the offense.

That'll do it, folks.

We'll still have an onside kick, but that'll

do it.

Or maybe we'll get a concession here.

You ought to practice the onside kick, though,

in all reality.

I wouldn't be kicking it deep.

At least practice it.

But that should be the ballgame.

Rough night, all in all.

Mark says TikTok here.

You guys should have kept that coach that's

coaching New Orleans.

Oh, yeah.

Kellen Moore.

Yeah, I think Kellen Moore, definitely a guy

that you look back on now at this

point with how Brian Schottenheimer has unfolded.

And yeah, there's some regret there.

I've heard that from a lot of Cowboys

fans.

I would agree.

There's got to be some regret there with

that decision.

There's a couple of decisions, too.

You had, you know, you had Ben Johnson

available, right?

And the whole thing with that was Ben

wanted to kind of have his say in

quarterback and would would Ben want Dak in

the fold.

And so you had the Cowboys really not

wanting to relent a lot of control.

But Ben Johnson was available before they hired

Schottenheimer.

They could have gone all in on Ben

Johnson.

They decided not to.

Decided to go with kind of the yes,

man, controllable type.

Yeah, I think that is what we got

right now.

Feel like that's kind of what we have,

honestly, in multiple DFW sports right now.

Skip on the Rangers side, Schotty on the

Cowboys side.

Just coaches that just rub elbows with that

front office, man.

And there's not a lot of pushback.

I don't know why we signed Parker instead

of Gannon.

Lot of questionable decisions when you start out

two and six or two and four after

week six.

I mean, at this point, everything you start

second guessing when it goes this poorly.

Everything.

All right.

Onside kick time.

Aubrey out there trying to get the ball

back for Dallas.

And a little sideways spin.

It's going to end up going out of

bounds, though.

Flag thrown.

Believe it hit one of the Packers, so

not sure there should be a flag, but

I don't know that they're going to argue

this one.

This game is basically on ice.

If we're being realistic, comment from YouTube here,

we can afford to lose two more, maybe

three.

That's a stretch.

I think at this point with how bad

the division is, you probably could maybe go

nine and eight and still have everything in

front of you.

And if we're just going really wide frame

here, this division feels winnable at nine and

eight.

So I would disagree just a little bit.

I think you could probably lose four more

games and still win the division.

That's how bad the NFC East is.

So if you're looking for a little bit

of glass half full, if you're looking for

a little bit of positivity, I mean down

the rest of the way, Cowboys have 11

games left.

You would have to go seven and four

at seven.

Yeah.

Seven and four over your next 11 in

order to win the division and have a

winning record with this, you know, hypothetical we're

going with here.

I do think nine and eight probably gets

it done with how bad the NFC East

is going to be this year.

I, I definitely do not, uh, do not

claim to know exactly how everything's going to

unfold, but based on what I'm seeing so

far, it feels like nine and eight is

going to be at least firmly in the

running.

And so that would put the Cowboys at

seven and four needed to finish out the

year feels like that could happen.

It feels like that is a possibility.

I got to look at the schedule here.

I will.

I mean, look, it's, it's the NFL.

You're not going to be able to predict

this perfectly.

Right.

But you got the Eagles on Monday night

football.

No, you don't know.

Jalen Hurts kind of in shambles.

You would think that's a game that is

possibly winnable Cardinals game.

They beat the Rams today.

Cardinals scare me.

I'm not even going to pretend like that

Cardinals game is a shoe in the Niners.

That that's probably a loss.

The Seahawks is probably a loss.

The Rams and the Jaguars, every other game

to me feels like it's winnable.

So Eagles Cardinals Colts, those feel like winnable

games Niners.

No Titans.

Yes.

Eagles again.

Yes.

I feel like the Niners Hawks Rams and

Jags games are the only one that feel

like that's going to be a pretty tough

game to win.

And look, that's just me totally being hopeful,

understanding that it's very likely that one of

the other teams that I didn't just say

outside of those four ends up giving the

Cowboys a game and knocking them off seven

and 10 feels winnable.

Pete says from TikTok here, seven and 10

feels winnable.

That to me is being a little generous,

but you might be right.

Seven and 10 might win it.

I'm going to just set the bar at

nine and eight, just because that feels a

little more respectable.

I mean, look, eight and nine, that means

you have to go six and five the

rest of the way to go eight and

nine, maybe eight and nine wins the division.

Seven and 10 feels like don't count on

it.

Maybe you get lucky, but don't count on

it.

So you either have to go seven and

four or six and five.

If you think that eight and nine or

nine and eight wins the division, Nate makes

a good point from YouTube here.

Comment is can't believe this is how we

came out when we had 10 days to

prepare.

Feel like, uh, in a way deja vu

from the Longhorns, uh, by the way, uh,

who was that, that, uh, was talking about

my teams, uh, Southern Saint, uh, comment from

TikTok, your college and NFL football teams are

terrible.

Unfortunately, unfortunately, yes, we keep on rolling.

Uh, Eddie, we're horrible.

I mean, tonight it was pretty horrible.

I will say that Richard, what's good, man.

Uh, let's see.

Dak 60 million underperforming tonight.

Yes.

I think Dak has had some nice games

this year.

Uh, this was not one of them.

Dak's had a couple of solid games.

I would say it feels very Jekyll and

Hyde feels very 50, 50 at this point,

like very, very 50, 50 what you're going

to get from Dak Prescott on a nightly

basis.

And what you're really going to get from

the team in general.

I do know this, you have spent all

too much money on this offense to have

an effort like this.

I mean, Green Bay's defense, it's not terrible,

but is it really at this level?

I don't know.

They have been really limiting some teams offensively

this year.

As you look at the Green Bay's numbers,

uh, this season for them, you have some

mixed results, but I mean, you gave up

the 39 spot to the Vikings to begin,

but then, uh, you hold, let's see a

few teams under 20 points.

Uh, the Bears without Caleb Williams held them

to seven held the bucks to 14 held

the jets to 17.

And then you've got some big numbers.

You've got 35 from the Falcons, 39 from

the Vikings.

I mean, Green Bay's defense to me, it

feels like mixed results.

I can't sit here and, and crown green

Bay and pretend like this is some ultra

tough opponent, man.

Green Bay is a beatable team and they

are four and two now, but they have

gotten beat down in a couple of ball

games this year.

It feels like a beatable team didn't happen

tonight.

Obviously credit to them and Jordan Love.

If you just juxtapose Jordan Love and Dak

Prescott, it looked, I don't want to say

night and day, but it looked like a

clear step above watching Jordan Love sling the

football and watching Dak Prescott sling the football

Dak.

I don't know if anybody else was, was

on this page with me tonight, but just

felt like Dak was missing some mustard tonight

on some of those.

You just, the fastball was, was looking a

little weak tonight.

And that's why I feel like you had

so many almost interceptions from Green Bay Dak,

just lacking that zip really was.

I mean, there were just a lot of

throws that did not have that velocity on

it that you want to see coming out

of the hand.

And then you watch Jordan Love sling it.

And it's just hard not to notice the

difference.

Now look, is it maybe just a bad

night for Dak outside playing at Green Bay?

I don't even know what, what the temperature

was at Green Bay tonight.

Was it even cold that cold tonight?

I don't see any breath coming out of

coming out of the player's mouth on the

interviews here.

I mean, look, I'm not going to make

excuses for Dak.

I'm really not.

I mean, right now it's 54 degrees.

Come on now.

That's a beautiful night for football, baby.

That's a beautiful fall night, 54 degrees in

Green Bay.

And that's like nothing.

Once you get running around Dak to me,

yeah, just did not look like he was

sharp.

Didn't look like himself tonight.

Didn't look like the ball had a lot

of zip on it.

And then you watch Jordan Love sling it.

And you feel like he's just a cut

above good child.

YouTube.

Dak was looking like Arch tonight.

That's fitting.

Salem, Salem, same thing.

Dak and Arch separated at birth.

Yo, let's see.

Text Max says, is it just me or

did our defense look different?

I mean, I saw a glimpse of positivity.

I think that the score is deceiving.

That would be my takeaway on the defense.

The score is deceiving.

This game easily should have been 30 plus

points allowed.

You had Christian Watson drop in a pretty

wide open touchdown in the end zone.

Green Bay settled for a field goal instead.

As a result of that, you had Golden

dropping one.

That was, I believe a touchdown as well.

I think that was another field goal.

Settle Green Bay.

Most, most likely gets 30 plus if their

receivers don't have blocks for hands at different

points in this ball game.

I feel like we're kind of doing the

rose colored glasses thing saying that the defense

showed some signs of positivity tonight.

I feel like it's kind of like the

Texas Rangers when they score like seven or

eight runs.

It's like, you feel like inflated with hope

because every other night they're putting up one

or two and looking terrible.

So when they score seven, you're like, oh

my gosh, this is what we've been waiting

for.

This, this is amazing.

And in reality, it's still pretty bad.

That's how I feel about the defense tonight.

I don't think that you walk away feeling

that great.

It's in my opinion, you kind of putting

lipstick on a pig and yeah, there were

a couple of stops.

We made, we made them punt a couple

of times.

Yes, that's right.

Again, when you're used to a defense that

never makes the offense punt a few punts

mixed in, you feel like you've got the

Baltimore Ravens of the early two thousands on

your hand.

To me, I'm just not going to be

convinced or moved by the effort tonight from

the defense.

It should have been another 30 plus point

performance.

You did have the takeaway.

That was nice.

That was their first interception all year long.

By the way, if you're curious about that

first interception all year long, it's bad, man.

It's just bad.

Um, time of possession was even like that

was my other thing was, is it really

a matter of, Hey, the Cowboys were just

on the field a bunch tonight.

What was it?

It was 29 to 31.

Dallas lost the possession battle by two minutes.

So the defense wasn't like on the field

this entire game.

They actually were pretty balanced in that way.

The penalties are killer.

And to me, that's always an indictment on

coaching.

You had 11 penalties for 108 yards.

Green Bay had 11 as well, man.

You take away those 11 penalties though.

You wonder, is this still a loss?

Is it a one possession game?

At least feels like it's probably a one

possession game at least.

But tonight, the two turnovers from Dak huge,

especially considering that each one of them was

with the Cowboys driving.

I mean that those weren't deep in, in

your own territory.

Those were in opponent territory, not a disciplined

team right now.

It's not a disciplined team.

The DFW teams, man, we're counting on the

stars and we're counting on the Mavericks Kyrie.

Save us, please.

We're counting on the Stars and the Mavs

Cooper Flagg.

Come on, baby.

Take us to the promised land.

I'm not sure the Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb,

George Pickens and company are going to be

doing it for us.

Sad night for Kyle, for Cowboys football.

Just is no other way around it.

Joe Dallas stars are the only team bringing

me happiness coming from YouTube.

Oettinger had a nice game the other night,

blanked Chicago.

After a couple of embarrassing games in Chicago

last year, good to see the Dallas stars

getting on track.

Obviously still early in that season, but they're

about the only positive thing going in DFW

sports at this point.

Uh, Cowboys are done, not done only because

of the division and feel like I'm just

perfectly segueing from the Rangers season into the

Cowboys season.

Just a terrible division all year long in

the AL West for the Rangers, pretty terrible

division in the NFC East for the Cowboys.

You're not going to be done really until

late in the season because of how bad

this division is right now.

Uh, the Giants are three and two.

You're one game at three, two, and one,

you are one and a half games out

of a division with 11 to go.

And you've got another game against the Giants

in tow.

Uh, like in a lot of ways, you

still control a lot of your own destiny

here.

Eagles are two and four.

Cowboys are two and four.

You play on Monday night football next week.

This division is not going to get settled

for a while.

Not going to be settled for a while.

Now, if you're talking done, as in you're

not winning at all.

I don't think a lot of Cowboys diehards

really thought they were winning at all this

year.

I mean, I know I didn't.

And, uh, you know, I'm watching every game

locked in making content throughout the week.

I mean, I, I never felt like this

team was a Super Bowl winning team, but I

did think they're at least going to make

the playoffs this year.

And especially when you started seeing some of

the nonsense in the NFC East, especially earlier

today, last week with the Giants commanders tie,

like man, the Cowboys it's sitting right there

for them.

It's on a platter.

Take the division.

Rangers had the same thing.

Let's take the division.

It's right there.

Yeah.

And then you get games like this.

Deb, what's good, man.

Yep.

That is the theme of the night.

A lot of people, a lot of DFW

fans, uh, my DFW peeps, man, we, we

got it bad right now with some of

these pro teams in our backyard, man.

It's it's rough stars and maps appear to

be the only hope right now.

Cowboys are still going to make it interesting

just because of this division.

It's always something with the Cowboys.

They find a way to reel you back

in.

They'll look good over the next couple of

weeks.

Maybe, maybe next week still doesn't look that

great, but then they have a couple of

nice games and you're believing again.

And then the NFC East is terrible and

Cowboys are right on the doorstep and it

doesn't take much.

We know how this goes.

We know how this goes.

Appreciate the follows by the way.

Thank you to everybody that has followed along

since we went live.

Appreciate you guys.

Definitely drop a comment, drop a question.

I would love to see what you guys

have to say about this game and we

are going to pepper in what we got,

our reaction, our analysis of this one.

I've already gone through a number of different

things related to the game, the ins and

outs, but bottom line is you had a

porous, a terrible offensive performance tonight.

Defense still not looking great.

I know some of y'all are trying

to scrape at just about anything to get

some positives out of this one.

A few people like what they saw from

the defense tonight.

I can't go there with you.

I'm sorry.

Defense still not looking that good.

In my opinion, hire Mike Tomlin.

Shoot.

He's on the screen right now.

Mike Tomlin.

And he, he was definitely, I think dropping

some knowledge about some of the things coming

out of the Cowboys camp this week.

First of all, I meant to, meant to

publish a real today.

I like done all the production on this

real, uh, on this TikTok I was

going to put out on the defensive team

meeting that took place earlier in the week.

And man, anytime something like that goes public,

it's just not great.

It's not great that the team meeting that

the defense had that did not need to

get out.

I don't know who leaked that.

No clue who went to the media on

that one.

And it's hard with the Cowboys to keep

things secret.

It just is.

But man, when I heard team meeting for

the defense, I already knew this week was

not looking great because you're naturally putting pressure

on yourself.

Whenever you do team meetings like that, you're

naturally putting pressure, adding even more pressure onto

yourself.

When you do those things, you got a

lot of attention on you.

It just looks dramatic.

And I feel like what Mike Tomlin said,

it's not totally untrue.

Uh, he said, "I think you're dead."

That was his exact quote.

When Mike Tomlin heard about the team meeting

that the Cowboys had earlier this week, a

defensive team meeting closed doors.

The text back says they, this is a

goal.

This is gold.

TikTok comment here.

They met and read NFL defense for dummies

as a group.

You got to laugh, man.

You got to laugh.

Sometimes it's some of this nonsense, man.

I thought that was so stupid, dude, a

team meeting after five games.

What are we doing?

What are we doing?

Five games and you're having a defensive team

meeting players only that you already knew that

the vibes were already not good after that

got out.

You already had a ton of pressure on

this defense and then players only team meeting

gets out into the media, just adding more

pressure, just turning up the temperature a little

bit more.

It's bad.

I still want to know who leaked that,

man.

That is brutal.

That had to be one of the players.

Don't you think?

I mean, maybe the team publicized that.

I don't know why on earth they would,

like, why would you publicize that?

That had to be one of the players

leaking that out.

I can only imagine.

We can only guess, but maybe it was

Jerry.

Just you might be right on that.

My guy comment from TikTok there.

Maybe it was Jerry just to stir things

up a little bit that honestly that would

not shock me.

If Jerry leaked the defensive players team only

meeting, that wouldn't shock me in the slightest.

It was.

Is that confirmed?

Are you just saying it?

I honestly, after I heard about it initially,

I can't say I did a lot of

follow up, but ridiculous, man.

Go back.

Go enjoy the win, man.

Enjoy the win.

Packers moved to four and two.

Cowboys moved to two and four.

Tough in the streets for Cowboys fans.

All right.

Next week, let's talk about it.

You've got Monday night football in Philadelphia.

No, Jalen Hurts.

What could go wrong?

Am I right?

What on earth could go wrong?

No, Jalen Hurts.

Eagles on a four game losing streak.

Easy win, right?

Easy win, baby.

Yeah, we'll see what happens, but the Cowboys

really needing to get back on track next

week against the Eagles.

We will certainly give you the best preview

that we can.

So by the way, Philadelphia two and four,

after losing its fourth consecutive game, they lost

to Carolina 25 to 14.

Dallas, of course, has lost a couple in

a row themselves.

Each team enters with identical records.

Jalen Hurts on injured reserves.

Not going to be playing Monday.

Tanner McKee is the man in Philadelphia at

this point.

He threw for 215 yards in a touchdown.

Philly managed only 14 points, obviously against the

Panthers, and they ended up punting eight times

in that ballgame.

DeVonta Smith, he returned today and he ended

up catching a 19 yard touchdown.

He is definitely a guy that you're going

to have to watch out for.

Feels like the passing attack for the Phillies,

for the Eagles, not quite what it was

last year, the year before, but you still

got some dangerous weapons and you've got a

secondary in Dallas that is quite questionable right

now.

Chuba Hubbard, 120 yards on the ground for

the Panthers against the Eagles.

That definitely bodes well for Javonte Williams.

Javonte, I've been saying it, they have got

to start just feeding him.

I mean, it feels like what the team

needs to do at this point just to

get back on track.

You threw the ball almost 55 times tonight

and you ran it less than 15.

What was the breakdown tonight?

I know I read it out earlier.

So Dak threw the ball 54 times and

you rushed it 15 and two of those

were Dak's.

So you had 13 rushes from the running

backs tonight and meanwhile Dak threw the ball

54 times.

Feels like the way to get back on

track next week is to feed Javonte Williams.

He averaged nearly four yards a carry and

had a touchdown tonight.

Didn't have any explosive plays per se.

His long was only eight yards, but Javonte

seems to be the constant, seems to be

the steady ship in all this.

Dak has been up and down.

I feel like the games where Javonte hasn't

had a big day, quote unquote, you haven't

really had him getting the ball a lot.

Look at tonight.

I don't think it's Javonte's fault.

He only has 40 yards.

They weren't giving him the football.

I would love to see Javonte be the

feature next week in Philadelphia.

You're playing on the road.

You want to control the clock, right?

That's the other thing.

You split it 50-50 with possession, but

with a defense this bad, you want to

control the clock.

Methodical drives.

I mean, of course you're going to take

explosive plays for touchdowns, but you want to

have an offense that really has that time

of possession firm in hand.

Great way to do that when you've got

a bad defense is to run the football.

Run it.

Javonte on the year, I mean, we'll go

to the numbers on him and the yards

per carry, averaging a little under 4.0 yards

a carry.

I mean, look, he's definitely done well when

given an opportunity.

Rushed for 98 yards against the Ravens.

62 against the Texans.

Had those three touchdowns.

I think that is the key for next

week.

Kachow says, YouTube comment here.

Don't know why we keep lining up Downs

at corner though.

I think it's just one of those things

where they understand, hey, we've got a talented

player here and maybe just getting a little

too cute.

I don't know that they've explained that one

out super great in the media.

I think with Downs, it's probably a lot

more simple to have him play a comfortable

position, but they also are pretty bad at

corner.

I mean, they are pretty bad at corner.

And so I can see why they are

tempted to have Downs play out of position

at times because you don't have great cornerback

play.

I mean, Joey Porter jr.

Still kind of getting his feet wet.

He was sick last week, couple of weeks

ago we played and he might still be

getting acclimated to me.

I think it is just a mess defensively.

I think that's the bottom line here.

It is a bit of a mess defensively,

Rob.

What's good.

Appreciate the comments, man.

You know, I'm not sitting here proclaiming the

Cowboys are going to win the division by

any means, but we understand the NFC East

is terrible, right?

I mean, we understand this is a terrible

division and all they have to do is

what catch the Giants.

Eagles don't have a quarterback.

I mean, I don't feel like the division

is a foregone conclusion.

You've got the Commanders at one, three and

one.

They're a mess.

I don't feel like the division is totally

out of reach.

That's just me.

That's carnage.

What's good.

Fire Schotty Dak is trash comments from YouTube.

They're Schotty.

I don't know that he lasts if they

don't make a playoffs this year.

I feel like he is going to be

a two year guy.

I don't, I don't think Schotty is in

it for the long haul, especially if they

miss out on the post season again.

I don't see him withstanding the test of

time.

Look, NFC East champs at eight and nine.

Yeah.

I think that that could happen.

Absolutely.

That could happen.

Let's see.

Do I think Howell will start next week

over Dak?

No, I think Dak will be the starter

for sure.

There's no way you're going to bench your

$60 million quarterback zero way NFC East.

Yeah.

NFC East is the, the AL West of

the NFL.

I mean, it really is the AL West

for those of y'all that are not

big time baseball fans are not Texas Rangers

fans, AL West, the division, the Rangers playing

was terrible this year.

Nobody wanted to win it.

Houston ended up winning it with a .500

record, which has never been done before for

a division winner.

It was a, an, an all time bad

year for the AL West feels like that's

what it's going to be for the NFC

East NFC Least once again, absolutely.

Absolutely.

Would I hire Mike Tomlin?

Yes, I would hire Tomlin, but I don't

think that's going to happen with Jerry Jones

still in the picture, but yeah, I would

absolutely hire Mike Tomlin.

I'm all for hiring guys that are proven

winners.

And I know Tomlin has had some time

passed since he's won a super bowl, but

he has won a super bowl.

And the teams that he coached up in

Pittsburgh clearly were not juggernauts there at the

end.

They were winning record.

And at this point, you're a Cowboys fan.

You might take that.

You honestly might just take a winning record.

Yeah.

I would be open to that for sure.

We were talking about a couple of years

ago, you could have hired Kellen Moore.

You could have hired Ben Johnson.

Those were possibilities.

And I know there was some pushback, like

people bring that up and, oh, Ben Johnson,

he wanted to, he wanted his own quarterback,

all that stuff.

I mean, yeah, but he was still there.

He was still available and you decided to

pass Rashadi comment from YouTube here.

All Overshown is guaranteed for us to get

injured.

Yeah.

Overshown.

Definitely.

I think the injury prone label is there.

No doubt it is there, which pains me.

I mean, look, I'm a university of Texas

fan and Overshown a university of Texas guy.

And he was definitely good when he played

at UT and he's shown some promise when

he's actually on the field, but that has

not happened a lot as a Dallas Cowboy

love got to be in the MVP talks.

If it weren't for the drops, his stats

would be insane.

I definitely gave Jordan Love his flowers tonight.

We were talking about with love and Dak,

as you watch Dak throw the football tonight,

as you watched love throw the football tonight,

hard not to feel like Jordan Love is

a cut above right now.

Watching the ball come out of Jay love

saying, and then watching Dak throw the, what

the five almost picks that he had tonight.

I mean, Dak probably could add four interceptions

tonight.

That just did not have the zip on

that ball this evening.

It was lacking, did not have the zip.

And you watch Jay love, just sling it

all over the field, man.

And if the Packers didn't have blocks for

hands at multiple different points in this ball

game, probably a 30 plus point output for

the Packers and their offense.

Tank for Colin Simmons and draft Chambliss second

round.

If he's there, there's a plan.

There is a plan.

I'd be all for Colin Simmons.

Now he did get hurt.

I will hopefully, hopefully it's not too bad.

He did get hurt on Saturday against Florida.

So you hope that he's all right.

But yeah, Colin Simmons is a monster.

He is a monster.

Chambliss would be an interesting quarterback for sure.

Don't know exactly how his game is going

to translate at the NFL level, but they

are getting to that point where they got

to figure out what they're doing.

Next, Dak is not getting any younger.

You have that fine line where you want

to build around Dak and you also want

to build for the future.

Cowboys are going to have some tough decisions

in the draft in the next couple of

years with Dak Prescott there.

Colin Simmons, comment from TikTok.

You're Colin Simmons with a torn

ACL is better than Gary.

Ooh, Rashan, Gary, baby.

Cowboys definitely need an edge rusher.

That is for sure.

They need an edge rusher. Ezeiruaku.

Ooh, Gary.

I mean, look, those guys, God bless them.

It has not been great from the edge

rush this year. Ezeiruaku, who I

know is young.

I don't want to come down too hard

on him.

He's still young, man, but it is just

not been good from the edge.

And I know a lot of say, well,

you shouldn't have traded Micah.

Yeah.

I mean, easier said than done in a

vacuum.

Sure.

But in the real world where you have

to pay Micah a lot of money and

then you don't have the ability to build

around him really defensively because he got all

these other big offensive players that are trying

to get paid.

I still say it was the right move

to move on from Micah.

You miss Micah's edge rushing ability, but we

do quickly forget.

I mean, the run defense was bad with

Micah Parsons on the team.

That was one of the big things we

all complained about.

Like, yeah, it's great.

He can rush the passer, but he doesn't

help you in the run game.

And so you decided to go get Quinnen

Williams.

You obviously got Kenny Clark and it's still

questionable in the Cowboys.

It feels like I've given up quite a

bit of rushing yardage this year tonight.

Not necessarily the case.

Green Bay could not run the football very

well at all, but J-Love just tore

it up in the passing game.

And like I said, J-Love the numbers

don't look great for him, but he did

have a lot of drops tonight on a

drops tonight, probably at least five.

Donovan has been having a quiet season.

Kachow comment from YouTube there.

Well, let's see what, what he was up

to tonight.

Yeah.

You, you had a number, uh, different guys

to note you talking about Caleb Downs, 12

total tackles led the team by a long

shot.

Caleb Downs, 12 total tackles.

Uh, the next highest tackle total was five.

And that was bell and James forum had

four, a bunch of other people at four,

Caleb Downs, leading the team with 12 total

tackles.

I mean, look, there's a lot of people

that are talking about him, not really living

up to the hype and all that.

I mean, for me, I feel like he

is for being a rookie doing the best.

He absolutely can on a unit.

That is not very good.

I feel like if you put Caleb Downs

on a quality unit, he's getting a lot

more hype, but because this unit is so

bad, ultimately he ends up just getting criticized

along with everybody else in the unit.

But seeing Caleb Downs, 12 tackles tonight.

I mean, I know there's going to be

somebody that probably poo-poos that, uh, or

tries to talk down on that.

I mean, look for a rookie, you're leading

the team in tackles as a DB impressive.

That is definitely a positive takeaway for me.

Uh, let's see how many yards did Dak

have?

Two 58, two 58 tonight for Dak Prescott.

Caleb Downs was getting fried tonight.

Yeah.

I mean, I feel like there's a reason

why, as, as you look at some of

the numbers and you really reflect on it,

they're, they're pretty much asking them to do

everything.

I mean, they're, they're asking him, think about

it, right?

Caleb Downs, leading the team in tackles.

You think this guy is fresh in coverage,

the guy leading our team in tackles, Caleb

Downs.

When you are involved in that many tackles

as a defensive back, are we really expecting

him to be fresh in coverage?

Kind of goes to my point with Downs.

If he was on a quality unit where

he wasn't having to make every single tackle,

he might be a little bit better in

coverage.

So I don't think that Caleb Downs was

some locked down defender today.

But if you just look at the numbers

alone, when you are the team's leading tackler,

I'm not expecting you to be running stride

for stride with Christian Watson.

And why does he have so many tackles?

Because guys at the line of scrimmage in

the line backers aren't tackling well enough.

I'm sorry.

If you are leading the team in tackles

as a DB, good for you, but there's

a bigger issue here.

Guys are getting to the second level way

too much.

Whether it's screen, whether it's the little dink

and dunks from the wide receivers, you've got

way too much getting to the second level.

If you have a DB that is consistently

making the tackles for you to end place,

I would love to see Caleb Downs on

a competent defense.

Would love to see what he could do

with quality, quality linebackers, quality DBs around him.

I think it'd make a big difference.

Originally from Texas, man moved to Vegas, probably

what, like, uh, 15 years ago, grew up

five minutes from the stadium, lived in Arlington

for a long, long time, but moved out

here early 20 tens.

Haven't looked back quite yet.

Do miss Texas though.

Let's see what else we got.

Chargers want Jeremiah Smith.

Look, uh, there's going to be a number

of guys in the top 10 that are

going to be really interesting next year in

the draft.

Who knows where the Cowboys will be, but

I'll say this right now, it seems pretty

clear where they need to improve.

Go get another defender, man.

Go get another defender, please.

Please, please, please.

Two and four Eagles versus two and four

Cowboys next Monday night might end up in

a tie.

Yeah.

I, I think that that game is maybe

going to look a little rough unless the

Cowboys figure it out offensively.

Sugi was good.

Uh, comments as I haven't followed football, Cowboys

football for nearly a decade.

Defense seems to be in the exact same

spot as it was back then.

I mean, you're not too far off.

Like if you went back a decade, that

would have been rookie year.

And that year was actually pretty fun.

But yeah, some of those late 2010s teams,

you definitely aren't wrong there.

The defense, it feels like has always been

an issue.

Always been an issue.

Jeremiah need edge or middle linebacker.

Definitely.

They need to draft the linebacker.

They need to get a linebacker in the

first round next year.

Uh, yeah.

Colin Simmons would be great.

I don't know if he's going to be

available.

Depends on where the Cowboys draft, but yeah,

if you could go get a linebacker, a

real strong difference maker, you kind of have

the defensive tackle.

You have the D line, I think pretty

set, but if you could get a good

edge rusher, if you could get a good

inside interior linebacker, that would be nice.

Uh, Texas carnage, the Parcells teams feels like

you had some good defenses.

Definitely feels like with the Parcells teams, you

had a, you had a couple of really

good units in there and there's been some

good defenses along the way, no doubt for

the Cowboys throughout the last couple of decades.

There's, I mean, look, I feel like you

can count them on one hand, but, uh,

yeah, I don't want to pretend like it's

been terrible for 25 years, but it hasn't

been great all in all over the last

10 years.

We'll say that.

Can you imagine Joe Milton starting quarterback and

beating us next week?

It might happen.

Might happen.

Joe Milton got picked up by the Eagles,

by the way, if you're not getting the

connection, former Cowboy Joe Milton, of course, uh,

by the way, uh, going back to the

Eagles, we'll, we'll finish up on this.

Uh, Jordan Davis, Zack Baun, those guys, of

course, relevant pieces in Philadelphia's defensive front and

second level.

Uh, those guys, probably two of the dudes

that you got to key in on in

a big way as you game plan.

But I do think you look at what

Chuba Hubbard did against Philadelphia rushing for a

buck 20, feed Javonte next week.

That's what we were saying before we got

a little bit off track with some of

the comments, but feed Javonte. Take a little

bit off Dak's plate, utilize CeeDee Lamb

where you can, a CeeDee Lamb and George

Pickens where you can.

But I think feeding Javonte ought to be

a priority next week.

Saquon Barkley did miss today's

game.

Nolan Smith left with a concussion.

We'll see what happens.

Let's see if they're available.

Saquon has not really been having a great

year, but let's see if he is going

to be a difference maker come Monday night.

Jack is terrible under the blitz comment from

TikTok.

Yeah, he definitely was flustered today quite a

bit and didn't feel like they adjusted very

well.

All right, y'all let's land this thing.

Uh, tonight told me even when other NFC

East teams stumble, which happened today, Dallas not

going to take advantage, not going to be

overly motivated.

Dallas lost control today of an opportunity through

early turnovers, inability to finish defensive possessions.

He had some third and longs get converted

by Green Bay at a big opportunity to

really get back from control of the division.

You would have at least been pretty much

tied with the Giants, with the win today,

unsure about the offensive execution tonight and how

that's going to carry over in the next

week.

Another road game.

Gotta see this offense get back on track.

And I've already given my prescription on that

one.

We'll see what happens with Turpin.

That'll be one of the next things I'm

watching.

Look, definitely a valuable player in the special

teams unit and a gadget player on offense.

Good to utilize that speed, man.

And he definitely was missed tonight.

Felt like the whole Cowboys offense was in

the mud most of the evening.

All right, y'all.

I'm going to go ahead and take off

for the night.

Appreciate all you guys hanging out.

Uh, Bailey.

Yes.

Panthers.

Thank you for whooping up on the Eagles.

Definitely was a good way to start the

day.

Wish the Cowboys would have doubled it up

with a win, but it wasn't meant to

be.

Thank you for all you guys who followed

and who commented during the live show.

I truly appreciate it.

Obviously wish we could have been hanging out

under better circumstances, but rain or shine, we

are here talking Cowboys football every Thursday, Sunday,

or Monday, depending on when the game is

played.

You and I are in lockstep on that.

Um, we'd love to see Turpin involved a

little bit more when you got a guy

that fast, even the threat of him potentially

breaking one off on the field at any

moment.

It's good to have out there.

Cowboys were missing it tonight.

I felt like we will be back next

Monday night.

You will see me on Saturday.

I will be covering college football.

We will be also doing our Rangers show

on Wednesday.

So that is definitely the next time I

will be on the live Wednesday night Rangers

off season.

You've got, by the way, this Saturday, Texas

Ole Miss.

So we will be live after the Texas

Ole Miss game, but Wednesday and Saturday, and

then we'll have a bunch of content out

in between.

Hope you guys have a great rest of

the night.

Thanks for hanging out.

Have a great week ahead.

And as I always say to end every

show, God bless and go Cowboys.

Cowboys Waste Their Chance as the NFC East Stumbles
Broadcast by
